  1. MM….your berating our captain is embarrassing…

“CMcG is the weak link — not a winner in a month of Wednesdays”

His medal haul says otherwise…you know F’all…about F’all.

  2. @ 31003 on 22ND DECEMBER 2021 10:38 PM

Re transfer window, it’s against the context of the rebuild required.

You’ve named 5 players. You are forgetting we lost Eddie, Ajer, Christie, Broony and a number of other squad players. We had the funds and should have invested more in the team.

  3. We’ve created some half chances tonight but in truth we’ve been wasteful for most of the season in front of goals. That will need to change or it’s curtains for our league chances.

  4. ROLLING_STONE

I’m not forgetting who we lost

But I also think their replacements are playing far better football and are more committed to us than those we lost

    Edouard. Not interested

    Ajer………mind elsewhere

    Christie…..ditto

    Broony…..end of his time

  5. Just saw a stat:

League games in which Kyogo has started – played 11, won 10 (only loss is at Ibrox).

League games in which Kyogo didn’t start – played 8, won 3, drawn 3, lost 2.

Ajeti has done nothing in 2 years and early signs are GG is going to be in the same boat. We need a couple of strikers in January and a couple of wingers.

  6. TT @ 10.56

He is not a winner but he was a member of a team that won things.

To my mind he is a squad player at AM — good with the ball at his feet.

You have to give him credit for the way that every year he adds something to his game.

Well that was the case up until the NT clique fell out with NL last season over his coaching regime.

Some of his play last season was a disgrace where he gave up and faffed about — one of quite a few to give the full story.

And now we have him playing hide and seek using the opposition forwards as cover.

Then you have the low energy shooting style and the lack of drive from MF.

Not sure what the issue is but he is a one game in 3 guy at the moment.

Not a captain and not good enough to be a starter.

  7. Pps our tactical deficiencies with corners, front and back, and our waste of free kicks- the sole blame is Ange.

  8. park the bus 442 long ball on

    Judgement reached:

Ange the tippy tappy idealist will come a cropper in the head to head oldfirm dogfight.

A manager who can’t make the best use of his assets which are considerable, always needing to buy more assets because he doesn’t manage the assets that he has currently, always breaking(injuring) them, then wanting more to break(injure), and on, and on.

    Solution reached:

Park the bus 442 chip the ball over opposition heads for the uncatchable Kyogo to run onto. Simple eh?

When you play with 3 speedy wingers as your forward line, and in 96 minutes only one ball for Moffat to run onto is either, dumbfkery from Ange, or deceit from Ange, as fk up’s will be needed along the way if the grand(master) plan, of solidifying the oldfirm franchise is to be realized? When St Mirren keeper caught the attempted header in 88th minute was that his first save of the game?

Oh, and no need to worry about blowback from fans, there won’t be any, so job done.

The meticulous recruitment of Ange certainly had reasoning behind it. Lots of reasoning.

Job done indeed for the oldfirm franchise.

  9. Starfelt didn’t even need to jump against the Hibs scorer….just block his run….schoolboy stuff

Can’t be Anges fault that surely

  10. A 19 year old Academy player gets his first Senior start in probably the weirdest game he ever payed with 10 players packing the defense,

He probably never experienced anything like that before, he is thrown into a bizarre front 3 along with Mikey & Abada, all 3 play poorly but on the evidence of one game there are CQN Gurus writing off his career already.

If I didn’t know better I reckon they had Ralston written off as well.

Hard enough dealing with the disappointment of tonight without reading that kind of nonsense.

  11. glendalystonsils on

The majority of our many , many corners tonight were aimed at the shins of the first defender or 10 yards beyond the player at the back post . Amateur stuff . I got no surge of excitement tonight any time we won a corner

Our free kicks around the box have been equally bad but Juranovic fired in a decent effort , so maybe time to give him the free kicks in the absence of anyone else half decent .

  12. I suspect it’s quite sometime since a six point gap was overturned after the break. We’re up against it now. Hopefully they sign Willo Flood in the window.

I don’t believe you were a jungle man

    I was

I never heard anyone decry the team or manager as much as you do

Did you say the same about big Jock and the Lions when they lost or drew?

    I think you probably did

Do you really expect a player, team or manager to get it right EVERY time?

If you do you have no idea what football is all about

    Jungle man my arse

    There is no Jungle.

    Eh?

  15. Have to hand it to Goodwin, genius but predictable. Flooded the flanks with water to the point of making the game unplayable. No chance of any trikery wing play creating cause and effect.

    Who’s in what Jungle?

  17. Primary reasons for failure tonight:

Very weak / inexperienced forward line on the night.

Longer term issue is the lack of focus and hunger to convert chances — no EM / cannibal attitude.

No drive or invention from a MF that included TR who had left his mojo at Hampden.

Then you have the basic coaching fails that have haunted us for years:

Corner kicks — seen as a chore / no matter who takes them / totally embarrassing.

The contrast between the ones we have vs the ones we have to defend tell us everything we need to know regarding the professionalism of the squad and the coaching depth at CP.

5 mins to go tonight and we cannot even rustle up a credible short corner routine to try and take some of their players out the box. — basic schoolboy stuff that we cannot organise when we are at the desperate stage.

Free kicks — wasteful and sloppy no matter who takes them.

When we had SN taking them we were world class — now we are just a danger to the wall or the ball boys behind the goal.

Crossing — again very wasteful with LA and JJ neck and neck for the biggest culprit in the squad.

Throw ins — again second rate U14 stuff that incredibly puts us under pressure.

    Lots of work needed ASAP.

That is if we really do want to win the league this season.

Jan will tell us all about the efforts the board are prepared to support to rebuild the squad and the coaching staff.

  18. SIONNAIGH

    Agreed

Ugly ugly shitty football to play and to watch. If I was in his shoes I’d have done exactly the same. He won a point off the best team in the league

  19. Seems to be a lot of posts this evening indicating surprise at tonight’s result. Obviously some folk haven’t been paying attention to recent performances (especially since Jota’s & Kyogo’s injuries.

We needed a 96th minute winner to beat Ross county last week.

We needed two moments of Kyogo magic to beat Hibs in the final.

Given our starting line up tonight, it should come as no shock to see us struggle.

When a 19 yr old summer signing (Abada) is arguably your best starter in a front three, you know you’re up against it with injuries.

At HT I was reasonably happy to see that we’d created enough chances to have 5 shots on target. A few decent chances. Their keeper made a couple of decent saves and Scales had an effort blocked.

Second half was more disappointing. We seemed to struggle more as the game wore on. I don’t recall their keeper making any decent saves in the 2nd half. Josip’s free kick was as close as we got to scoring, but unfortunately not on target.

I think Jota has been missed as much, if not more, than Kyogo. His creativity and goals are a big miss. Abada (after an initial good couple of games) quickly became our weakest/more inconsistent forward when playing alongside Kyogo and Jota. So much so, that it looked like we’d be alternating between Abada and Forrest for the wide right slot (when both are fit).

Yet tonight, we were left with Abada, Johnston (don’t get me started on him) and a debuting Moffat as out front three.

The warnings were there before kick off that we could struggle in the final 3rd.

Kyogo, the Greek, and Ajeti are our first 3 options for centre forward. All were unavailable. Jota and Forrest/Abada are our top wide men. Again, injuries prevented them from playing tonight (Abada was used in an unaccustomed centre forward role).

It’s no wonder we struggled to score.

Our creative midfielders (Rogic, and Calmac…and to a lesser extent Bitton) all struggled tonight. Though they had little ahead of them to work with/play quick one twos with.

Tight defences are incredibly hard to cut open (they not only had 11 behind the ball…they were all within 40 yards of their goal…no attempt to press our centre halves in our own half…they were happy to let us bring the ball into their cramped final third, knowing space was then at a premium)

In such tight spaces you need to play quick one touch football around their box. Look for quick one/twos. A runner getting behind their back line. We rarely achieved this tonight. Only a couple of glimpses, which we failed to score from.

All in all, a poor result. A poor performance overall. But hardly surprising given our resources due to injuries.

Yes, we could have started Juranovic instead of Moffat. But would it have made a difference? He was on for long enough, and we failed to test their keeper. Yes, we could have started Taylor. But would he have created that killer pass to split their defence?

We could have started both and went with 13 starters tonight. We’d still have struggled to score, imo.

We’ll be a far better side with our top players back fit (and new signings next month to strengthen the squad). Looking forward to reaching this point asap.

Until then, we’ll continue to struggle, imo.

    Re throw ins

I reckon they’re 500% better than last year. We retained every one of them tonight. I know. I made a point of watching out for them

  21. So we are all huns when the team play rubbish Am I going to praise a team that we’re rubbish tonight nay don’t think so .

    •••••••

If you want to be successful you need to be ruthless.

If I was in charge of Celtic PLC, I’d give Ange his jotters tonight, and put Jim Goodwin in charge of Celtic tomorrow.

A manager who’d appreciate the wealth of resources to Celtic’s advantage.

And Jim Goodwin is the only figure in Scottish public life to denounce the bullsh*t passports for football fans.

  23. Disgusted with that performance, Johnston and Abada, passengers again, squad is thin but should have had enough to win,i think we might need to win every game to win the league now, nobody is taking points from the huns just now.

  25. 7 @ 11.23

I will defer to your analysis — we couldn’t have gotten much worse.

However in retaining the ball did we manage it by a defensive or an attacking action?

When we have a throw in the opposition half we don’t seem to want to stretch the game by playing the ball to someone who is ahead of their defensive line.

We seem to forget that there is no off-side from a throw in.

We don’t need to work at it Stoke levels but we surely can improve.

  28. Given the number of crosses we were putting into their box (when we had no height to challenge their centre halves) I was disappointed that Ange didn’t throw a CCV or Ralston or a.n.other tall guy into the centre forward position for the last 10 mins.

Maybe not the “Celtic way” of playing, but it just might have succeeded in us getting someone on the end of a cross. And would have indicated a willingness to try a different tactic to break the deadlock.

  30. 31003

You can’t seriously believe that Ange is blameless for our truly incompetent and self destructive corners, attacking and defending, and free kicks? If the cheats win the league, which is looking likely now, I could surely question why anges team failed so badly tonight and against other teams who exactly the same tactics, teams that the cheats beat easily enough,
