  1. MadMitch,

He came home and steadied the ship …

Neil has delivered a lot of trophies … judge him on what he done … not the fabled 10… the Huns were cheating for decades … if you want to be specific maybe Neil / Covid lost us the 23rd title :-)

I was going to suggest that you take the weekend off and just enjoy the sun . Unless, like some of Lizzie’s loyal subjects, you’ve cancelled your holiday early and returned home to pay their respects (and contacting The Sun to let them know the sacrifice they have made🙄). However, from your earlier comments you have clearly decided on a stiff upper lip, stoic resolve to tough it out and bravely attempt to carry on and enjoy your holiday as if your heart isn’t breaking.

So, ive been studying our teamsheet and having been unable to find even ONE candidate, I’m reduced to throwing darts to see what 3 squad numbers I hit.

    So, the winners are:

    Barkas (1) Scales (5) and Soro (12)

Oh no, wait, I’ll need to throw again!

Ok Mikey J (19) Ajeti (10) …….aw FFS I’m going to be here all night!

OK – I’m literally going to have to tell blatant lies now just to populate your spreadsheet.

(scans team sheet again – sigh! 😞

“Queen” must have started brightly cause the Celtic fans were clapping loudly at the start but that seemed to peter out 🤔 So, I’ll go on recent memory and pick Jenz, Jota and Calmac.

Away for a lie down now…..

  4. The Queen will have a costlier funeral than any recent royal

There is no recent precedent for the cost of a state funeral; it’s been 70 years since the UK buried a sovereign, and 57 years since its last state funeral for Winston Churchill.

However, no cost is expected to spared for Queen Elizabeth II, and the expenses will likely tower over those of the funerals of other royal family members. Princess Diana’s funeral is estimated to have cost between £3-5 million ($3.4–5.5 million). The Queen Mother’s, 20 years ago, cost around £5 million. Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, had a more modest funeral last year due to coronavirus restrictions. Unlike the crowds and dignitaries expected on Monday, the Queen sat alone during his funeral, in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Policing the large crowds that the royal family draws is an expensive undertaking. The Queen Mother’s funeral racked up some £4.3 million in policing costs, and Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding cost £6.3 million to police. The public response to the Queen is already larger than either of these two prior events, requiring even more by way of security expenses. The queue to London’s Westminster Hall, where the Queen is lying in state, stretches, as of Thursday afternoon, over four miles along the Thames River.

The UK has declared the day of the funeral as a bank holiday—a different kind of cost, one of foregone economic activity. Schools, hospitals, and pharmacies will close. Chain stores, from McDonald’s 1,300 outlets to apparel shops like Zara, have likewise opted to shut their doors, as have small private businesses, like pet shops and nurseries. One hotel tried to evict its guests on the day of the funeral, before walking back the decision following a backlash.

For the bank holiday during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, the decline in economic output was estimated at £2.4 billion. For the Jubilee, this loss was offset by revelers spending an estimated £6 billion to boost UK hospitality and retail. Those economic gains will likely be not recur during this more mournful occasion.

The Queen’s lavish send-off strikes a bitter contrast to the UK’s high inflation and cost-of-living crisis, which has many Britons concerned about having to choose between food and heating as winter sets in. The comparison, however, is already ruffling feathers. Piers Morgan, a fierce royalist, ranted on Twitter about the indiscretion of putting a price on a nation’s grief.

The funeral will be added to the annual price tag of the royal family. According to the royal accounts for 2020-2021, this included £86.3 million for the taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant, £63.9 million on property maintenance, and £4.5 million for royal official travel, among other costs.

    NL2 — have to disagree.

He should have never been anywhere near P/head after BR’s flounce.

Did not have the focus / energy required in 2014 and nowhere near good enough in 2019.

Cheap and easy to control — suited PL down to the ground.

  12. Hindsight has 20/20 vision

I read back and noted Mad Mitch expressed concern re the lack of strength in depth we showed. This was before the game kicked off.

    He was roundly criticised.

It now appears Mad Mitch was entirely correct.

Maybe we should all consider the post more and respond accordingly

  13. G’day UNCLE JIMMY

Maybies aye, maybies naw, we’ll find out in time.

Think the responses were more to do with Mitch

  14. I’d have Roy Keane at Celtic in an instance, in any capacity.

He’d be driving the Young 1s on so much.

  16. Mick,

We have an Incredible Team and we are Truly Blessed to Support the Magical Celtic. It is my own opinion what happened at St Mirrens ground, given All the wall 2 wall coverage, it DIDNAE help us get 3 points.

So many actors. Dundee United Supporters are Top Drawer it is always respectful heading to the Spingfield Road.

I might not be in a state to witness Lizzie being putin wherever

  17. My friends in Celtic,

Ange has been a breath of fresh air since he arrived. Our transformation has been phenomenal and we have not suffered any real embarrassment on the pitch.

Interesting the talk about Brendan Rodgers who I still think was the best fit manager for Celtic at that time.

Brendan was magnificent for us but if you remember his first game, we got beaten by the moght of Lincoln Red Imps. Now that was an embarrassment.

Our defeat on the park yesterday was only a setback, it’s not a calamity and our players are not robots. Too many of our players had an off day at the same time.

    It happens.

A setback is part of any journey to success.

HH the journey will soon be back on track.

  18. 5bus 4bus blooter kyogooaall on

Ange has a lot in common with Brendan.

They both monstered the skint domestic opposition.

Ange looks like he’ll struggle in CL just like BR.

My name is the simple solution.

  19. Hindsight is a wonderful thing indeed

    every dog has its day

a broken clock is correct twice a day

People walking past a wall with memorial to tens of thousands of people who died during the Pandemic and barely noticing to see the coffin of one woman. Should make you think. #AbolishTheMonachy

  21. Reading back on the costs of the state funeral I don’t know why it couldn’t have been yesterday, no need for a bank holiday with the cancelled hospital appointments and doctors surgeries closed .

My daughter in law is a big fan of the royal family and is on her way to London. For her sake I hope the day goes well. Meanwhile I’ve got a local funeral to attend for Mary C.

Anyone thinking this will be yesterday’s news tomorrow will be sadly disappointed. The firm is definitely in ramp up mode. Only hope the coronation is not in the football season.

Whatever you decide to do today have a good one

  22. Beating Ross County so handsomely with almost the same team as started yesterday has perhaps caused us to over estimate the quality of our squad. It will be sometime before that mistake happens again.

We will need rotate especially after this break as it’s pretty much 3 games every 7 days until football stops for the World Cup.

In this instance though, I didn’t really see the need to make so many unenforced changes given we had the international break straight after.

It would have made more sense to me to rest players for the first game back at home against Motherwell, especially with Liepzig away 3 days after it. Resting half the team at home is a lot less risky and would have made more sense given the importance of Liepzig.

  23. Scullybhoy

Does anyone actually have a figure for how much the entire funeral charade will cost ?

Sharing that would make a few folk think I imagine.

  24. SCULLYBHOY on 18TH SEPTEMBER 2022 10:42 PM

‘How much will the Queen’s funeral cost?

It could cost the taxpayers millions of pounds, and potentially billions if we count the cost of the extra bank holiday’

    ####

Which rather suggests that the answer to our economic woes is to have fewer bank holidays, does it not?

An idea likely to find favour at which end of the political spectrum?

  25. Good morning all we move forward.

We cannot go back. What’s done is done.

HER funeral will cost hundreds of millions a disgrace.
