  1. An opinion:

The capitalist system is the problem. Pointless to single out any circumstances which are a direct consequence of that system.

  2. 26 fouls were awarded in our game yesterday. Had both team been equally aggressive, that would have resulted in Celtic committing 5.2 fouls and St Mirren 20.8.

    The reality was 11 and 15. Hmm…

    Off to the golf.

    Cheerio for now.

  3. It’s the people with zero hour contract or no contracts of employment who are missing out on a day’s wage that I feel most sympathy for today.

  4. The Epistle of Paul to the Romans (8.35)

    Who shall separate us?

Interesting that it is James MacMillan, who has composed a new piece to the New Testament writings of above, to be played during today’s funeral service for Elizabeth R. Now a Knight of the Realm of course, longstanding supporter of Celtic FC and one of Scotland’s leading Catholics. Looking forward to hearing that.

  6. The smaller we become — the bigger the flag.

The establishment has an issue — they are very good at this stuff / world class in fact.

But what do they do for an encore?

They are hopeless at just about everything else.

    You can’t eat subservience.

At some point the elastic will snap.

All this effort brings that day closer.

  7. royalty helped forward the moral, intellectual or material improvement of mankind. But that royal family has opposed every forward move, fought every reform, persecuted every patriot, and intrigued against every good cause. Slandering every friend of the people, it has befriended every oppressor. Eulogised today by misguided clerics, it has been notorious in history for the revolting nature of its crimes. Murder, treachery, adultery, incest, theft, perjury – every crime known to man has been committed by some one or other of the race of monarchs from whom King George is proud to trace his descent.

    “His blood

Has crept through scoundrels since the flood.”

We will not blame him for the crimes of his ancestors if he relinquishes the royal rights of his ancestors; but as long as he claims their rights, by virtue of descent, then, by virtue of descent, he must shoulder the responsibility for their crimes.

Fellow-workers, stand by the dignity of your class. All these parading royalties, all this insolent aristocracy, all these grovelling, dirt-eating capitalist traitors, all these are but signs of disease in any social state – diseases which a royal visit brings to a head and spews in all its nastiness before our horrified eyes. But as the recognition of the disease is the first stage towards its cure, so that we may rid our social state of its political and social diseases, we must recognise the elements of corruption. Hence, in bringing them all together and exposing their unity, even a royal visit may help us to understand and understanding, help us to know how to destroy the royal, aristocratic and capitalistic classes who live upon our labour. Their workshops, their lands, their mills, their factories, their ships, their railways must be voted into our hands who alone use them, public ownership must take the place of capitalist ownership, social democracy replace political and social inequality, the sovereignty of labour must supersede and destroy the sovereignty of birth and the monarchy of capitalism.

Ours be the task to enlighten the ignorant among our class, to dissipate and destroy the political and social superstitions of the enslaved masses and to hasten the coming day when, in the words of Joseph Brenan, the fearless patriot of ’48, all the world will maintain

  9. What is the Starz on

Fanadpatriot posted last night about fireworks on the Liffey (dublin) and the Liffey being red white and blue (presumably in relation to death of head of Saxe Coburg Gotha OCG)

I am away from home but checked with several people and have been unable to come up with any verification for this.

Fanad can you throw any more light on this

  10. in the pernicious examples of triumphant and shameless iniquities.

Every class in society save royalty, and especially British royalty, has through some of its members contributed something to the elevation of the race. But neither in science, nor in art, nor in literature, nor in exploration, nor in mechanical invention, nor in humanising of laws, nor in any sphere of human activity has a representative of British royalty helped forward the moral, intellectual or material improvement of mankind. But that royal family has opposed every forward move, fought every reform, persecuted every patriot, and intrigued against every good cause. Slandering every friend of the people, it has befriended every oppressor. Eulogised today by misguided clerics, it has been notorious in history for the revolting nature of its crimes. 11. Going into Milan next week for the day en route to a weeks holiday at Stressa. I have been to Milan as a Celtic fan a few times but never really as a tourist.

Aside from Duomo and La Scala any suggestions welcome ? Also any informed ideas about a really nice lunch / afternoon tea / coffee venue to go to ?

  12. Just back from a lovely wee T stint in the sea at Aberdour. Good to see many other non conformists enjoying the nice weather and ‘day aff’. Plenty swimming / paddle boarding / canoeing / dug walking and generally quite demonstrably trying to get away from the nonsense.

Off to wash the car now.

    SCULLY:

    Day off?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I’m still on my summer holidays, Joe. Sadly, last week starting. We can go for a cuppa next week (Mon / Tues / Thur), if it suits?

  14. Extremely poor show yesterday and fair play to St Mirren who deserved their win no doubt.

I rarely criticise players but must make an exception today. I thought Steven Walsh and Turnbull were very poor and Mooy only a tad better.

Surely a lesson learned and it will be for sure.

Big improvement when Rio came on I thought but as big Mowbray would say, we must take it on the chin.

Disappointed too by the moronic singing during the minutes silence, don’t these wankers know the harm they do to our beloved club ,ffs.

There are hundreds of things in life with which I disagree, but I don’t and won’t air these at a fucking football match.

  15. Celtic board getting a lot of grief for their silence on royal protests. I suspect their silence is because they have a plan of action. They’re going to shut down the standing section and banish the Green Brigade home and away for rest of the season.

Expect an announcement soon after the funeral. Maybe even tomorrow.

  16. Just to be clear. I’m not saying I agree with such action. Just airing my view that the board’s hitherto silence tells me something is afoot.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You are correct. They are embarrassing the club and the ordinary Celtic supporter.

  18. The away support — something needs to be done.

    Fresh blood needed ASAP

You get the impression that tickets for away matches are becoming hereditary.

Passing through the generations — rapidly becoming a club within a club.

    Not good..

I was proud of the Green Brigade yesterday.

Imho their condolences to Michael Fagan was crass and indefensible.

    Not so yesterday’s protest.

Our football club was formed by a man of faith to prevent immigrant children from starving to death.

We have a corrupt far right government in Westminster.

We have children suffering MALNUTRITION in the 21rst Century ffs.

The Green Brigade did not embarrass Celtic yesterday.

  20. Saint Stivs

    Perspective indeed.

Also we had lost 2 Europa league games and a qualifier for CL.

Progress and maybe being checked is not the worst.

For me the energy that the other lot get from their Aberdeen away getting cancelled and their narrow 0-3 v Napoli, plus emphatic 2-1 win the bottom team in the league, does piss me off to be honest.

They have done nothing but somehow avoided slipping out of sight in the league at a time when we really need our emphasis to be on 2 huge CL group games.

They will come back energised with few away on Int duty and others injured time to recover, whilst we are not so fortunate. Hopefully CCV is only a couple of weeks out.

First 2 games back after the break are really crucial but first 4 back will define the season imo.

Motherwell at home Leipzig away St Johnstone away and Leipzig home.

They have Hertz away, Liverpool away, St Mirren home and Liverpool away.

For me 2 league wins are essential and a split of points over the 2 games with Leipzig will be just fine. That way a win v Shakhtar gets us to last 16.

Nn of Hertz beat thems then they could drop to 3rd and get beaten twice by Liverpool so more chaos for them at same time.
