For those who missed ‘Tommy’ on 606 on Radio 5, he called in 39.00 minutes in and his broadside ended around 45.00 minutes. Tommy is the scourge of the Phone – In, and has been for around twenty years or so. Always well worth a listen, and he did remind Chris Sutton that after the defeat at Tynecastle under Rodgers he called in to say “He has to walk”. And he did. As to WM Tommy considers him an “inferior manager” …..”who thought he knew better than Martin O’Neill”. He did say that he woke up this morning and for the first time in 53 years he wanted Celtic to lose. He also wants Martin back and the Board Sacked, something for everyone on here really.

  2. GGH – another person who knows he and his backroom boys can become millionaires by insisting on employment terms of a full term contract payout whether he succeeds or effs it up royally !

We don’t need to sack the manager.

We need to sack those who appointed the manager.

    It’s very simple.

  4. At various pints today;

We had Tounekti as right wing back

    Ralston as Right centre back

    Forrest as a centre mid

    McCowan as left wing back

    Maeda as a 10.

But trust the process says WN ( a manager with 3 wins from his last 15 games).

Unfortunately for us, he’s told the BBC he’s sticking with the back 3 and Ralston will be our starting RCB.

Soon to be 3 wins in 16.

  5. 67,

I agree with a lot of what you say, just that I would put the emphasis elsewhere. DD should take bear the majority of the blame, not for undermining BR but for appointing him again. BR is, in my opinion a total charlatan; in the battle of the egos between DD/PL/BR the club and its supporters were collateral damage. I would also include the green brigade in that unholy cabal.

  6. With injuries, possible departures and the failure to adequately strengthen in the summer, do we need to sign 3 to 4 first team ready players in Jan?

    I would suggest so.

Do we trust our player trading operation to deliver on this? Does WN fill us with confidence that he has an eye for a player?

I would suggest i don’t answer that one

  7. glendalystonsils on

We’ve seen what happens when players mutiny . The huns had their Paul Le Guen episode . We had Ronny with Kris Commons rebelling and Charlie Mulgrew self – substituting .

I cant help feeling that we;re heading for something worse .The board won’t care if the fans are unhappy but if the playing squad’s unhappy, something’s got to give.

  8. When I first saw the teamlist, I thought that with KT and TR in the line-up we might just play with a back four. Not to be. That said I thought that once we equalised, we settled and were effective both down the left and right for the rest of the half. By effective I mean that Tounetki kept St Mirren occupied down that flank, and carried the ball forward well. Others disagreed. Second half it was Stephen Robinson who changed things up, man marked CalMac, and used their front two to put more pressure on Trusty and Ralston. and it worked. How many times do we have to say it is about getting the best out of our players, Martin did it in short fashion, (Rodgers would never have got us into the LC Final) and Robinson did it today. First time apparently St Mirren have beaten Celtic in a Cup Final since 1926. Deserved it too.

Re consecutive domestic cup final defeats

    Can’t remember who asked, but

I’d like to PRAISE the Celtic support today and not criticise as you have.

There were a few anti board chants that dissipated quickly – even though most of us want rid of them – and at no point did anger overtake the occasion. There was no belief in the squad and no belief in the manager because Celtic fans understand the game and understand pretenders.

I was at my 45th final today and that started in 1988. Some have been to mant more than me.

All around me people were amazed at how badly things were playing out but there no vitriol.

Were you at the game Burnley78?

If so i’d be interested to know where you were sitting.

For the third time in 7 days my sons and I made a 300 mile round trip so if you want to criticise fans from an armchair go ahead.

If you were there then you must be one of a handful of blind happy clappers that can’t see the wood for the trees.

Change is needed at boardroom level, massively on the pitch and definitely in the managers chair.

Do it NOW before the season is done. The latter two are easier to do so they need done tomorrow. First thing. Then get a man that knows the game is a contact sport

Should be fun on here tomorrow when the benzodiazepine wears off and the nursing home switches the WiFi on again.

  13. Just seen a video of Nancy addressing the players on the pitch after the game. Minimal interaction with Callum. The skipper looked absolutely livid.

Also listened to Liam Scales speak after the match. He seemed bewildered by what they are being asked to do and what is going to happen going forward.

Their Egos are our failures I get that

I believe when BR came back he was assured that PL was NON EXEC so not involved day to day

You may have noticed PL has lost the NON EXEC part of his job title and is most definitely involved day to day

PL and BR had a clash of personalities only one winner PL and one loser the team

  16. Anyone that thinks Nancy Bhoy isn’t going to be here for the season is deluded.

Might get his jotters at end of season if we lose our title but not before.

  17. 60,000 Green & White Elephants sitting inside Parkhead stadium pointing at each other asking “Is it the board or Managers fault?”

Just like the Spiderman meme were 3 different timezone Spidermen are pointing at each other saying”

    ” Is it the Board/Manager/60,000/Green/White/Elephants/fault?”

The Janefield Street dugs said in 1994 after Fergus McCann flipped over the “Rebel Consortium” rule book and FM said:

“Fk the fans – Me and DD own the club so fk off back to your peripheral housing schemes!”

Janefield street dugs in 1994 said:

“Fk being a Green & White Elephant- Woof Woof!”

I’d say the Janefield dugs are much smarter than Green & White Elephants.

Whits Russell Martin doing these days?

At least the Huns fans made sure that Russell Martin was unacceptable and frightened the keek oot ae the Yankee board!

Celtic fans are limited to throwing Tangerines.

No wonder they got banned for being virtue signalling idiots.

Parkhead will remain a library until the Taylor Report seats are removed.

Burnley78 obviously didn’t realise that. But he does not want Celtic to lose either.

Problem is we had some kind of direction under Martin, dug out results too,

Seem to have lost all the belief Martin brought in just the seven days

Was in Berlin listening to the Raith Rovers game on Radio 5, not the result James Clerk Maxwell envisaged…

  21. Any manager/leader/coach who says it’s not about the winning or losing it’s about the performance should not be in charge

  22. Scales looked shell shocked in the post match interviews and if I’m not mistaken, that’s two successive games were CalMac has refused to do post match interviews- he didn’t want Nancy near him after that match.

    This will get worse.

  23. Congratulations to St Mirren on a well deserved trophy, better team won on the day no question

St Mirrins triumph wasn’t won with beautiful inventive football, it was pure hard graft and belief

Using limited resources in recruitment and preparation to the limit with they have no millions in the bank nor a state of the art training complex available, it helped of course that Celtic were in a weakened condition, punched out with two defeats by Hearts and Roma, Stephen Robinson rightly saw opportunity for glory and had the tactical ability to grab it.

They had every right to celebrate with Joy

The season is now in danger of total collapse, Hearts and St Mirren have showed the way

Celtic are vulnerable defensively (5 goals conceded Hearts St Mirren) unless this immediate problem is addressed by tactical alteration it will only be the catalyst for all our other faults to be highlighted, we are weak tactically, weak psychologically, squad weakened due to injuries and poor recruitment, first task is to stop the bleeding

WN and team finding themselves in unchartered territory, with no local knowledge, the equivalent of being on the Cairngorms plateau in trainers and t shirt in mid winter

Before Wednesday night WN should be humble and intelligent enough to sit down with the local knowledge in the building, Shaun and Stephen, like the ole Liverpool boot room talks, Wilfreid should be asking, what was MONs main tactical changes that he used to get winning results, if you need rescued because your out of your depth on the top of a mountain you call for the local knowledge to guide you back, not stay lost aimlessly wandering

  24. Mea Culpa before the match

I incorrectly suggested on CQN that we had returned to BRs 4-3-3 formation given the team selection prior to the match

To continue with the back 3, but not only that, but but new personnel in that back 3 with Tony Ralston pitched in as Right Center back from nowhere in a Cup final, clearly I had underestimated WN capacity for digging tactical holes even deeper, Scales a Left centre back operating as a left wing back not blessed with blinding recovery pace, quite frankly the whole defensive debacle is leaving me with nightmares, a defensive tactical disaster well beyond comprehension.

  26. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Good morning CQN

Today’ll be a tough one for the Celtic family

The senior players in the team, Kasper, Callum, Tony, James will have been through worse than this in their careers (was reflecting that Kieran – having missed the covid year collapse – might not).

I suspect this is the lowest Wilfried Nancy has ever been professionally – by a long way.

I’m minded of the LBJ quote about feeling like he was stuck on a Texas highway during a tornado.

“Can’t run. Can’t hide. Can’t make it stop”

I reckon WN will be feeling similar today.

Regardless of his ability, we’ll see what character he has and what he is made of.

Goals win games. We conceded 3.

    Reflecting on 2 and 3 … IMHO

Kasper stays on his line, we absolutely do not concede #2.

If Auston trusts Colby to do his job there’s a chance we don’t concede #3.

I genuinely believe we’re witnessing a team going through the most painful period of transition.

Might even get worse before it gets better.

    My evidence? Not much …

.. but often when athletes are learning something new to replace something already very well learned, the brain is fighting muscle memory.

All while one is supposed to be doing one’s job.

That creates uncertainty in a player’s mind.

One thing an athlete does for sure when he’s uncertain.

He actually stops moving freely, often hesitating while second guessing himself.

Compared to how he moves when relying on previous clarity?

It’s clunky … and ugly to watch.

Add to that the pressure of playing for Celtic and needing to win constantly?

    Individuals make bad decisions

    (e.g. goals #2 and #3)

Just one guy’s view. If others think I’m seeing something that ain’t there?

    Fair enough. Free country.

Final point – on the aforementioned “We’ll see what he is made of” …

… we’ll see similar with others … particularly the leadership at board level and the players but also us as supporters.

For those aged under 35 ?

For the first time in your Celtic supporting lives, you just might be entering a period when Celtic suck and don’t compete for a sustained period.

    Hopefully not.

Regardless though, this will be bumpy for a while.

    I’m not going anywhere.

    Have a good day all.

    ———-

What exactly do Celtic “suck” (sic)?

    Asking for a Yank.

  28. This just gets worse as the Board dig in.

How many of that team would you keep.

Nicholson & Tisdale need to go now.

Manager — out of his depth. The sooner the better for all concerned. The fact it’s 3 games in is a good thing — only real damage was the Hearts 3 points.

Not sure MON will come back.

Lawwell worked DD into a frenzy to bin Rodger’s— a parasite that needs dragged kicking and screaming from Paradise.

DD needs to make the right moves now or the whole season goes up in smoke —- worse than covid season as there will be no hiding from the support.

Could be a good thing— time will tell.

Don’t think DD will make the changes as he doesn’t really care anymore.

It’s only going to get worse—club will become a laughing stock.

  29. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Big Scales’ demeanour in his post-match interview was extremely concerning. He looked bewildered right enough. Consistent with Phil MacG reporting significant disharmony at Lennoxtown.

And remember P67 and chums – no excuses, no-one to hide behind, you own this now.

Fair play to big Liam for giving the saints full credit btw.

  30. Our captain looked very angry after the match yesterday and hasn’t don’t a post match interview afyer the past two matches rumours of bust up after the match yesterday.

  31. Maestro

If there is any truth in a bust up between the manager and Callum, then Callum better watch out as Dermot will slaughter him. Couldn’t possibly be anyone else’s fault could it?
