That question should have been asked of MON at the critical juncture, it may have been unfair on Wilfreid to terminate negations at such at a late stage, but Celtic FC should have been first and foremost, IMO it was sheer incompetence not to have asked MON that question and explored the relative benefits in running till the end of season with MON overseeing the football dept

From day one Martin was described as the “Interim Manager”.
That said before the present manager was contracted, the Board might have considered the possible impact of having three managers in short fashion (Notts Forest are only recovering now) against the impact Martin was having at the club and on the team. Was the question worth asking? Absolutely.
Was it asked? Martin answered that question.

O’Neill was then asked if he would return to Celtic for a second stint this season if Nancy doesn’t last and eventually gave an answer.
He said: “That would be hypothetical. Totally hypothetical. It’s like asking me is my next birthday 74? Which it would be.
“It has reinvigorated me, there’s no question about that. When you’re dealing with young people, it does make you feel much younger.
“I suppose deep down really, if the manager of Roma Gasperini, who’s only about 26 months younger than me – might be more – can, then why not? Why not?”
