The most striking aspect of our preseason games is just how synchronised everyone is. We look like a team in every sense of the word. Contrast that with the disjointed look we had at the start of last season, with then new manager Brendan Rodgers changing things around. Or worse, those early days of Ange Postecoglou, when we fielded a defence of Ralston, Welsh, Murray and Taylor in a Champions League qualifier.
Celtic will start the season on Sunday with a settled team and manager, and should make good headway early in the season as a result. There will no doubt be disruption before the end of August, though. Players will arrive into the first team, while none of us will be confident of keeping Matt O’Riley until the window closes. Stability never lasts long in football.

For the record. Brendan Rodgers is the one asking for 3-4 additionals – to improve the first team and to meet the challenges of domestic and European (min 8 matches initially).
For me – I’m sick watching Celtic penalty area peppered with crosses , usually from our lack of left back defence, and watching our Center backs struggle in the air (offence and defence). We need a dominant Center 6’3 min and a left back who can tackle as a priority. (Btw I liked look of Anderson as one for future)

BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 30TH JULY 2024 4:51 PM
I don’t think we’ll ever escape the “farmers league” problem. Maybe 8 games in the CL will mean we’ll get bigger fees from better clubs but unfortunately Matt plays most of his football against teams that are probably English third trier standard and isn’t making the Danish team regularly while S-R has played well enough against top quality opposition to get 3 England caps
They’ll always look at risk when spending that much, Matt’s still much more of a risk to teams who don’t watch him every week.
S-R is also a bit quicker, I think that might stop Matt from making it to the very top
More powerful and pacey, which seems to get people excited
Liverpool, have so far signed…………………….no-one.
You can never have enough good times. The Glasgow Celtic have given me some of my greatest times.
Man City, have so far signed………………………….one player.
I have 2 sons who between them have 1 daughter (3) and 2 grandsons (5 & 8) — all already Celtic daft.
The wee girl and the 5 year-old have the new hoops while the 8 year-old has the new away strip.
That’s it. They’re happy for the season. No crying for a second or third strip, or if they did, they’d be firmly told to make do.
Celtic, like all clubs with shirt sponsorship, are under contract to release their home and away strips for public sale. The likes of Adidas aren’t going to pay millions of pounds to Celtic just to supply Celtic players alone.
If anyone buys their children 2 or 3 new strips, then that’s their lookout. If you do, fine. Don’t then complain about Celtic fulfilling their contract by releasing new strips to the public.
You have a choice.
And so July draws to a close and still no signings..except a veteran washed out has been keeper who nobody else wanted and a back up project keeper who will be loaned out to Dumbarton in January..Still no bids for the over rated O Riley and even Norwich 3rd choice striker is looking elsewhere.
Dark days indeed and it’s only going to get worse.
God bless Peter Lawwell keeping the green flag flying despite the begrudgers naysayers and malcontents

Interesting , still Adam and Paulo walking out on Sunday holding the Scottish Cup , I know it’s sort of petty but at the same time , sticking it firmly up our nearest rival.

I think, with offers from Spain, Italy and England we’re getting a better idea of what Matt’s true market value is.
I think the offers are so far short of what we think he’s worth that we wont get near to it in this window.
I’d like him to stay at least until January, 8 games in the CL should get some better richer teams involved like Atleti last season, but if he wants to go he has to be allowed to. We’ve kept him once when he had an offer from a top European team, twice would be unfair on him.
Ekbhoy- Idah will be doing the Paradise Windfall Draw on Sunday 😀

I dont believe the posts are ridiculous nonsense.
It is not the fans job to manage the business aspect. We have current custodians to do that. And they are doing that exceedingly well.
The fans are there to support our club, remind them of the ethos of Celtic football club and hope that Celtic can be the best they can be.
We are not stupid. We know the share price and the worth of Celtic PLC.
We know how much money is sitting in our bank account.
We want the best team on the park that is possible within our fiscal structure.
AI will replace accountants. Good or bad ? Who knows.
Anyway enjoy the game on Sunday. I certainly need my Celtic fix.

Sorry for stating the bleeding obvious but every club will be looking at Matt in the same way we do potential buys.
They work out their valuation based on a number of things, once the scouts, the guys behind the screens and the rest of the recruitment and football guys have got together they’ll decide what they will go to.
The go into negotiations with that number in mind, they will not go above it whatever. They will not make an exception for Matt, just like we wont make an exception for Idah or Bernardo.
MATT IS GOING TO lIVERPOOL, THEY ARE JUST WAITING TILL THE END OF THE WINDOW.
i see also Doak be touuted to leave.
One of their blogs saying permananet move, other saying a loan to a premiership club no less, then others saying, fancied more by Klopp than the incoming boss.
Complicated, I need to go see if we have a sell on percentage due.
Money for old rope this transfer stuff.
The adverts on this site (with Ad blocker on) are a joke
But I will persevere
On the transfer front
If you are a decent player why would you commit 4 weeks before the window shuts
Patience required for decent players
I will save my panicking until the end of August

Shankland a year left on contract, if Hearts get £1.5 million, they will be doing well, and I still wouldn’t….
‘We’ve no replaced Ryan Kent….’
Missed this stuff…
Fans do indeed have a choice.
Buy or not to buy. Procure a seat but wont be going for a myriad of reasons, go on holiday during the season, travel on a bus with others or go in your own car on your own.
All personal cirumstances bounded by your own decisions and personal ethics.
Celtic plc can also decide what is their best ethical, sustainable . least environmental impactful and GREENEST solutions they can have.
For next round of kit supplier in the RFP/RFP
dear supplier, we will only want one mass produced strip every season, and we want your supply chain to be transparent, please submit your bid here.
dear transport provider, we will only be using EV busses and car fleet from now on, please submit your bid here.
dear energy prodiver, please show us how you are providing renewables, and plans to become carbon neutral.
dear construction partner, for Barrowfield, lennoxtown, celtic park, please show us the ethical use of materials and recycling plan.
please include design for us to have solar, wind and water management so celtic plc can be carbon neutral by x date.
unless i missed it in the design phases, none of the best standards are being applied for our current build programmes.
Huge opportunites missed.
Do we even have EV point in any of the car parks ?
How does Parks charge the super bus /
I am serious about this, get with the programme and invest now, or be forced to by 2035.
ps, we will all makes less money short term but we will at least save the planet for long enough to secure 25 in a row, cheers.
I wonder if Athletico Madrid Quick News is full of posts saying stop making lowball offers, give Celtic 30 million and get O’Riley in right away. :)
While people worry about the left back being too wee, others measure more than keeping ahead of the local rivals (not my rating by the way)

Burnley – your point is valid and we’ll made, but I’ll play Devil’s Advocate.
If you were running a business I’m sure you would have at least duplicate suppliers of raw materials, packaging, distribution etc. Not only could you create competitive tension between the two, you have an alternative if one lets you down.
We’re not their yet, but I’ll be disappointed if we kick off on Sunday with only one striker, not to mention left back. It doesn’t strike me as prudent planning or risk management.

was it your good self who mentioned JUST IN TIME other week ?
in an ideal JIT supply chain you have one dedicated supplier, but they have the same supply chain ideals as you, having committed to hold the materials until you need them, obviously they decided themselves what risk they have.
worked for us, we became world class at it, and then sold it off to the chinese.
competing suppliers often means under cutting each other to the point of unprofitability.
the relationship has to be profitable for all.
—————–
a cousin works for drinks company,
the supplier for labels is in china.
i said how many do they actually produce for your product,
em a million he says.
but they make a 10 billion for the rest of the world as well.
as an aside, Phil Differ just did an interview for CELTIC EXCHANGE
quite excellent listen.
he gets very emotional about the privelage of seeing bobby murdoch play, and that the lions were even better than anyone can tell you about nowadays.
he grew up doon the street from murrays father and anothr two brothers,
he said they were excepional “real” footballers.
worth a listen.

SAINT STIVS
There’s an excellent interview with Peter Grant on ACSOM by Paul John Dykes and Tommy Sheridan in which Tommy tears into EBT Rangers and calls them cheats and more.
Also, PG spills the beans on Mo Johnston.
Well worth a viewing.
Idah getting disciplined for not travelling with Norwich Squad for pre- pre season games….
SS – it wasn’t me, but you’ll note I said “competitive tension”.
And good for you being “world class”, but unfortunately a great many businesses are not and toiled badly post-Covid when supply chain were heavily disrupted. The auto industry is a good example. I may be wrong, but I get the impression JIT inventory management has had its day.
