Two years ago, Tony Watt was putting a light under our fire. The debut goals at Motherwell, the point rescued at Dingwall, then came THAT goal, his future looked secure, but it’s been downhill since.
Tony has the athletic abilities to be a firm favourite, but Neil Lennon shipped him out a year ago, amid comments about the player sorting himself out. His manager at loan club Lierse was soon singing the same song. Now the player is in Liege as Celtic have accepted a bid from Standard for a player, who under different circumstances, would be considered a prodigy.
It is no surprise Ronny Deila has decided to cut him loose; what little we know about our new manager suggests he doesn’t offer too many last chances. For Tony, this is likely to be the last chance to build a memorable career, if he slips up at Standard, next stop will be the likes of Kilmarnock.

Jo Inge Berget is 6ft 1/2 inch
Aw naw
I scrolled back 5 pages to read it!
Look most people have a justified mis trust of the board due to many a poor transfer windows, but it’s too hard to judge right now. If Watt goes then hopefully that is a sign that Ronny D is starting to make judgements on the squad, with several others to follow him out the door. At the same time he has to assess his budget, which I assume is X amount regardless and Y amount through CL qualification. Also factored in is Z amount of player sales, which will probably include FF(2 years on his contract), but hopefully not VVD as well(3 years on his).
At the very least it looks like we will be holding onto players through the Legia ties, if we get through them it may be fanciful to expect buying clubs to wait until 31st august.
There are a lot of variables in there, I’d like to think we’re thinking big, hoping for CL then bring in higher quality but what do you do. Bring in a guy for £2m now or hope that CL money lets you splash out for a £4m player in the same position?
As ever, judgement will be taken based on CL qualification and at the closing of the window
Jo Inge Berget brings it all on himself.

@Kojo,
It’s been a very long time since i posted, but i agree wholeheartedly with your summing up of our “yoof”.
Ironically, living on the other side of the world for the past decade or so has given me the opportunity to keeps tabs on the “yoof” via Celtic TV.
I agree 100% with your assessment. I’m particularly excited by young Regan…

Much appreciated my friend. We all have opinions on the Gaza situation, but “here” is not the time or place for it.
My wife will ask for a divorce when i finally go home well after midnight tonight (Thai time). I’ve posted lots of comments re. Gaza on Facebook, but tonight i’m here to discuss Tony Watt and Celtic….
H x2 to all…..
Jo Inge Berget
5 minute YouTube judgement

Young, tall, pacy, physical, direct wide player. Few decent goals, didn’t see much in the way of step overs, dribbling, weight of pass etc
An area of need for sure, but unlikely to excite your impatient supporter. Depends on the fee, a mullion or so he gets some time, a Fortune type for good money could be disastrous for the manager. Any decent source on this?

The scout reports…
Jo Inge Berget is a quick and skilful striker who likes to drop deep, collect the ball and pass it on.
At his former club, FC Lyn Oslo, he was called Torres because of his resemblance to Liverpool’s Spanish striker Fernando Torres both in appearance and style of play.
Berget only featured five times for FC Lyn Oslo before he was snapped up by Udinese in a double-transfer including Nigerian starlet Odion Ighalo.
A goalscorer and a supplier, he drops deeper than his role model Torres, but has the same qualities in front of goal.
He is now firmly part of Udinese’s set-up and is pushing for a spot in the first-team squad of the Serie A outfit.
The scout says…
Has great technique and vision, but needs all-round improvement if he is to make it to the top level – but he has a chance.
The Scout rating…
Shooting: 6 out of 10
Passing: 8 out of 10
Tackling: 3 out of 10
Heading: 5 out of 10
Pace: 6 out of 10
Vision: 6 out of 10
Current ability: 5 out of 10
Potential ability: 9 out of 10
OVERALL SCOUT RATING: 48/80
Current value: £1million
Potential value: £5million

Is he in G72
Paul67 et al
The fact that a second Belgian club is prepared to give Tony Watt some kind of a future suggests that while some coaches do not rate him, for various reasons I imagine, there are others that do. £1.2 million is a hell of a lot to pay just to have a look at a player. That said he did not seem to progress much at Celtic, was given little or no game time, and featured rarely in this season’s build up, so the offer must be based on his efforts in Lierse last season. Sorry that his career never worked out at Celtic, he seemed to have all the tools, but attitude and application count for a lot in the professional game, and more often than not, the better players are positive on both counts.

It’s part of out DNA it’s the ethos of the club
………………………………….
Ot may be part of our DNA and embodied in the ethos of the club. We could make such protests decades ago with impunity, in the main, from the powers that be. However, just as the law has changed for fans and using certain words or singing certain songs will bring you a court appearance so it is with the club. There are sanctions which become more punitive with each charge. Who wants Celtic to fall foul of these? I certainly don’t. I want my club to be allowed to play football without distraction and without finding out at the end of a game that we’ve been hauled up on dome charge because some of our fans went on an ego trip that many other fans disagreed with.
However, what is pissing me off more than anything else is that we are about to play one of the two most important games of our season and there are Celtic fans looking for potential problems already. For God’s sake we haven’t been drawn against an Israeli team. Let’s just worry about Legia and not get ahead of ourselves.
Ot=it.

The laws have not changed the application of the laws have changed, UEFA break their own rules constantly any defence would be a simple matter of citing UEFA’s own precedents.
Agree about looking for snaw when there’s nane fawin, and the arrogance that we are through to face the possibility is mental but it is a remote possibility and on that basis it’s a fair question what should the club do.
The fact that Israeli teams play in UEFA competition is a massive political statement, no ?

I have no problems with anyone making money from CQN as long as nobody is being exploited.
I do feel and have always felt that multiple personality posters are exploiting the blog. They are parasites. Way back in the day I instigated the rumour that I had hacked the CQN blog in an attempt to try and get something done about it. NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT.
I did say way back in the day that it would bring down the blog. I suggested banning without comment anyone who had been found guilty. Which is a technically easy thing to do but it might cost money. I dont know Paul67s setup actually is and I dont know how much effort it is.
The problem Paul67 faces is privacy laws. Still if its not publicised and accusations are made privately then I think the blog could be easily cleaned up.
The problem is that this is such an obvious action. I dont know why Paul67 never perceived to do it. Work load, cost , commercially generated traffic … I dont know but it is the blogs only failing. Glaring
I wont go near it after the CQN lynch mob raised its ugly head the last time.

Griffiths would score more than May if we played him as a striker and not a winger, which he isn’t.
CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that it has appointed Haakon Lunov to its coaching team. Haakon will join Ronny Deila’s backroom team, with his focus being on match analysis.
Haakon (31) has worked with Ronny Deila previously at Stromsgodset and has also worked at Everton Football Club.
Ronny Deila said: “I know Haakon well and I know the great work he will bring to Celtic. We’re looking forward to welcoming him to join our team.”

I just don’t want Celtic to get involved. However, your last point is an excellent one. Israel is not in Europe so teams from Israel should not be playing in European competition. Are there any similar accommodations that have been made in other parts of the world that you know of?

I liked the look of him initially when I saw him play for the Youth team on CTV.
Liked it even better when he scored v Motherwell then Barca.
But when that early promise is not fulfilled with some consistency you start to wonder why. I watched him v St Pauli hoping to see a return to that promising level but his decision making disappointed me.
As SFTB put it he would have to be in the Ballotelli class to put up with less than acceptable off filed behaviour and he is not.
The word though is still at his feet.
