STARFELT COMEBACK TARGET

CROCKED Carl Starfelt has targeted the Premier Sports League Cup semi-final against St Johnstone on November 20 as his comeback date.

The Swedish international defender limped off with a hamstring strain midway through the second-half of Celtic’s frustrating 0-0 draw with Livingston at Parkhead on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou admitted the extent of the damage would be discovered after a scan today and Starfelt has told newspaper Aftonbladet in his homeland that he will probably be out for a “couple of weeks”.

UP, UP AND AWAY…Carl Starfelt takes to the air to clear a high ball in the 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park.

That means the £4.2million summer signing from Russian cracks Rubin Kazan will miss the Europa League Group G encounter with Ferencvaros in Budapest on Thursday and the trip to Tayside to take on Dundee at Dens Park in the High Noon showdown on Sunday.

Starfelt is also likely to sit out the international break before the clash with the Perth Saints, winners of both domestic Cups last season, at Hampden in 19 days’ time.

Versatile Nir Bitton could step into the breach to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers as he did against Livi at the weekend or boss Postecoglou could recall Stephen Welsh who has not played since the 1-0 Premiership loss in West Lothian in September.
