Statement leaves Newco exposed

446

Newco’s statement on their management team is worthy of some consideration:

“At a meeting with the management team’s representative earlier this week the Club were advised that Mr Warburton, Mr Weir and Mr McParland wished to resign their positions and leave the Club on condition that Rangers agreed to waive its rights to substantial compensation.”

A meeting with a representative of the management team, not with the manager, and not a resignation letter.

The club went on: “The Board urgently convened to consider the offer made on behalf of the management team and its ramifications and agreed to accept it and release the trio from the burden of compensation”.

If you agree to the terms of an offer made on behalf of someone, you really, really, need to get the signature of the individuals concerned. If you fail to get an agreement signed, you don’t have an agreement. If you don’t even appear to have a verbal agreement with your members of staff, you get on with your work as though nothing has happened.

They’d better hope Warburton, Weir and McParland get another job quickly, otherwise I predict another raft of court cases to be paid for.  This is a statement which suggests the authors have left themselves exposed.

Celtic must now make moves to sell tickets directly to their fans for the game in March or risk losing 8000 x £49.

    —————————————–

That will bring Administration closer. Sevco would have been banking (sic) on that for cash-flow. Celtic would have been stiffed anyway – at least until Season Ticket money was coming in.

Because the sequence of events narrated in the statement looks more like sackings than resignations.

The difference is somewhere between £1m and £2m of additional, unnecessary costs, by the time you add everything in.

They seem to be in self destruct mode.

It’s like the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Why not tell Sevco no money up front, no tickets…….. Sir Dodgy Dave the first banned Celtic fans, put the ball in Sevcos court, “your fans are allowed in but pay up front” none of that South African provi stuff………that will get SkySevco showing more adverts, like the refs embarrass the lot of them into the truth, their secrets will no longer be hidden…embarrass their hatred, embarrass their bigotry…….in fact they actually embarrass themselves as it is !

  4. Warburton’s been stitched up I think.

Sevco using supposed “rumour” of him angling for the Forrest job to bullet him without compo.

As Paul67 says, the legals of this are highly questionable to say the least. The statement has Jabba’s paws all over it… and I notice it was taken down pretty quickly (after a lawyer saw it?)

If the rumours of a cashflow crisis are true then they might just have wanted him out the door.

Th problem is now that after RES12 everything will be forensically examined as it happens. No chance of any shenanigans this time!

Inquiring about, or negotiating over, the terms of a possible resignation does not amount to an offer to resign.

  7. Daily Record website in full revisionist mode already. Ho hum. It’s fun to watch, but the team currently playing out of Ibrox (not for much longer!) is irrelevant to Celtic. Good times.

Fair play, I listen to SSB and the usual Scottish press, but even I smelt a rat (rhat) this week, when the patter turned too, Warbo doesn’t understand, doesn’t know the club….. blah, blah, blah

Oldco/newco means no difference to me as I grew up and live side by side by the same supporters (some are actually brand new :-) and for every bad thing that happens to that “institution” it’s never bad enough :-)

Here’s the rule amendment put in place 2015:

Clubs suffering an insolvency event will have a fixed 15 point penalty with a further five points taken from their total for the very next season.

For every club…* except wans in Govan…

I just wonder if we would sell the 8,000 .

And perhaps insist on a prepayment for the bogs.

  13. What a time to be a Celtic fan, I wouldn’t swap Brendan for anyone in the world, everyone of those boys on the pitch, i love them all especially KT, already possibly my favourite ever player, everything you could dream of in a Celtic player. And harmony on CQN. Bless.

I think I have got this story so far

So sevco wanted to give their coaching team away for nowt and the magic hat plus support act agreed then disagreed when they realised they might be a few quid down on the deal

Now the sevco hierarchy are well miffed knowing they still have a 1 million pound pay off on the books

Could tip them over the edge

    Developing story………

Keep the jelly and ice cream close by they could be bust again by the time you wake up in the morning csc

  19. Thread on Rangers Media (posted here earlier, on previous thread) talking about administration.

How likely is this? Given their debt is to their shareholders would one of them not actually have to pull the trigger on admin?

Or is the club just going to run out of cash?

Or is this a deliberate ploy to break free of MASH?
