Aberdeen sit eighth in the Premiership table, one of the rare sides not to have recorded a victory over the champions this season. With 12 points still to contest, they can no longer make the top six at the split and are 8 points from the relegation playoff spot. A 2-0 Scottish Cup win over red card-afflicted Motherwell was a recent bright spot. They have played nine league games this calendar year, with seven defeats, one draw and one win. So it will be straightforward tonight, right?
Aberdeen have been safe from relegation and in no danger of reaching a European place for months. They are by any definition coasting towards the end of the season, fulfilling fixtures to the letter of their contracts, while waiting for the next poor soul to be appointed manager. They are a significantly better squad than results suggest and are in no worse a state than they were when they denied Celtic a treble at Hampden in May.
In their nine league games this year, they recorded most shots on target (7) against Livingston, whom they defeated 6-2. Their second most short on target game was against Newco. For context, they only made 7 attempts on target across all four league games last month.
Aberdeen turned up when Newco were in town and they will do the same tonight. They will be motivated and less stressed by the rigours of exertion than Celtic. Tonight is so much more important than the cup game at the weekend the two matches do not deserve to be mentioned on the same page. It would be a huge win for the champions, if achieved.

Fr Murphy was in tonight. I have not felt too bad today, although I notice the energy beginning to drain. But it is quite early yet. I got showered today and had my hair cut, which made me feel quite good. I am abreast with the news and view with utter disgust and anger the Reagan/Thatcher plot. It seems quite clear that they intend to counteract Russian expansionism with imperialist expansionism, to protect their vital interests they say.
What they mean is they covet other nations’ resources. They want to steal what they haven’t got and to do so (as the future may unfortunately prove) they will murder oppressed people and deny them their sovereignty as nations. No doubt Mr Haughey will toe the line in Ireland when Thatcher so demands.

I have been pondering this, and puzzling a little bit.
As I see it, we now have 3 groups who are actively wanting to buy anyones shares.
The original Celtic Trust have always wanted proxy , and tried for years to awaken the dormant shareholding.
The Lowe group, who have came up with another avenue to also reactivate these shareholders.
Now, whatever WH group will be called, with the novel idea that he will donate fortunes to get the group actively buying shares, but so far without a clear structure to what his initiative can actually do.
But, what it all depends on is having shareholders willing to sell. Trading is very low volume, with only the recent 1.65 % combined sell-off fror Lindsell Train being anything significant, and the big unknown, who actually bought them ?
What always bothers me, and seems to be ignored, everyone with over 3% shareholding votes the way of DD every time. There is no disgruntled agitators among this group. They all vote the same, and I personally dont believe LT are just a proxy for DD. The bottom line for me, and ironically 32 years after the families sold up and were forced out, we are back at having 5 “owners” all voting the same way.
Now something else with 3 groups, they complain the support are non-informed cash cows. Just shut up and keep spending. That is a maybe aye, but does the 3 groups communicate any better ?
Other than Pedrok on KDS, updates are as poorly communicated as the PLC are.
Has any of the groups actually got shares activated ?
When fan media says “we are banned”, well shows us the communication that band them, share it.
The Collective website, why not give a daily bulletin ? communicate more than the board do.

A total aside.
30 years now the North stand has been up.
I have been up in 444 these last few games, and my goodness is it showing its age now. The steel-work and the stairwells are is various states of messy dis-repair, weathered and rusting, in need of replacement and refurbishment, it needs a plan,
I came down the Celtic club stairs last week, the contrast with plastered walls, industrial har-wearing careped floors, freshly painted, and I just thought why cant the same level of finish be applied across all the concourses ? why not.
Also, why not add escalators to get to the top tier, the demographics of our ageing support sees the lift at 443/444 getting used continuosly, but no kidding a fight actually broke out at the Hibs game in the queue.
Right back to duties.

Between the North stnd lower tier and the Jock stein corner, there is a set of metal stairs from turnstile to the stand, I actually remember them getting installed as a “temporary” fix to crumbling cement that hadnt cured properly.
Still there, 30 years later.
Time for a massive programme of works.
Get a refurshment out to tender, but do it.
