Stellar career with recent patchwork of clubs

500

In the space of three days, Celtic have gone from having a goalkeeper deficit to looking like they are sorted for the coming campaign, and possibly for a few years to come.  Kasper Schmeichel will fill the leading role this season with Viljami Sinisalo as understudy.

Kasper is four years older than Joe Hart was when he joined in 2021.  Whereas Joe only played around 40 games in the four seasons before then, Kasper has been first choice everywhere he has been for 15 years.

While at Leicester two years ago, Brendan Rodgers sold then 36-year-old Kasper to Nice for £1m.  After one season in France, Nice promoted their reserve keeper to the top spot and released Kasper, who spent last season at Anderlecht.

That recent patchwork of clubs is the only concern in a stellar career for the Denmark captain.  At Celtic he will be required to cope with high pressure environments like cup finals and Champions League games, while helping to develop the career of the man who will hopefully succeed him.  His form at the Euros suggests he is ready for the task.

    Here’s a prediction.

Celtic will sign Idah and Bernardo AFTER the club returns from the USA.

Willpower and discipline with alcohol before and after the games.

  6. Come on Rodgers and Nicholson get the finger out ,ditch Idah and Bernado ,go for Mioviski and McGreer and McKenna .

  7. I’m too long in the tooth to think this windae will be much different from previous. Similarly I stopped believing in Santa many years ago.

Other than goalkeeper changes, and turning loans into permanents, I’m not expecting much more. Rodgers has never struck me as being naive but he should nonetheless watch his back. A few CL skelpings and some unimpressive SPL results will see the anti Rodgers articles we saw last season, being rolled out again.

Think it was suggested at one point that Chris Davies was the brains of the former management team, and that BR could be missing him. If it goes Pete Tong next season…..Rodgers will be the scapegoat.

Mazzy – I think a few people will lose their jobs before Rodgers if all we sign are the 2 keepers, Bernardo and Idah.

  9. They say, one should never assume and all that. Bear with me please. So assume we sign Idah and Bernardo, with the exception of goalkeeper, how exactly does that strengthen the team which played in the Cup final ???

And what about the need to get quality signing in, mor e baloney methinks.

Just hope I am proved wrong, but as my late father would say often, a hae ma doots

  10. I see a side article suggesting a kind of a Celtic link with Tommy Conway at Bristol City. Includes a positive quote from Steve Evans, always worth listening to. Tommy has fell out with City, got himself banned according to the article, and is near the end of his contract. If we miss out on Adam Idah, he could be a good choice. Twenty one going on twenty two, (what Paul67 would call a development project) with a good bit of game time behind him, and a decent scoring record in the Championship. Committed himself to Scotland, albeit completely ignored by Steve Clarke in the Euros, he could bring a lot to the party. Tall, mobile with more than a hint of tactical nous about him could be a good signing, if we persuade him North. Might get EPL offers though, difficult to match.

  11. Left back and left centre half also still not addressed.

Must be a key priority in this window we would hope.

  12. So assume we sign Idah and Bernardo, with the exception of goalkeeper, how exactly does that strengthen the team which played in the Cup final ???

    ==============

by signing thes players permanently they come as league and cup final winners.

when on loan first time at celtic they did not have these.

one even scoredthe winning goal in a cup final.
