In the space of three days, Celtic have gone from having a goalkeeper deficit to looking like they are sorted for the coming campaign, and possibly for a few years to come. Kasper Schmeichel will fill the leading role this season with Viljami Sinisalo as understudy.
Kasper is four years older than Joe Hart was when he joined in 2021. Whereas Joe only played around 40 games in the four seasons before then, Kasper has been first choice everywhere he has been for 15 years.
While at Leicester two years ago, Brendan Rodgers sold then 36-year-old Kasper to Nice for £1m. After one season in France, Nice promoted their reserve keeper to the top spot and released Kasper, who spent last season at Anderlecht.
That recent patchwork of clubs is the only concern in a stellar career for the Denmark captain. At Celtic he will be required to cope with high pressure environments like cup finals and Champions League games, while helping to develop the career of the man who will hopefully succeed him. His form at the Euros suggests he is ready for the task.

We sign development players on the assumption that they develop, and improve. It’s part of the strategy and why we sign them at such a young age, we assume that they won’t come to us as first teamers but will eventually be good enough to be. Othwerwise there’s no point. If they aren’t showing signs of making it after their second season then maybe uts time to move them on.
Edouard, Frimpong, Ajer, O’Riley all improved and became first teamers after a year.
We signed a load of development players in the last few windows, development is never linear and some won’t make it but you’d expect improvements among that cohort, in particular Bernardo. Otherwise paying Benfica a decent fee and him a first team wage makes no sense
and that is why i like the loan with an option to buy.
also those signed last year if not going to feature for us get them out on loan to other scottish teams in europe
TICKET INFORMATION
Due to a global third-party system outage, some online services, including our ticketing platform are experiencing disruption.
………..
I THINK this IT Problem is maybe also causing a problem with LADBROKES Site since early Today ?
I placed some Bets early this morning Online with my Ladbrokes Account. It was fine UNTIL I tried to ” Log Out” ?
I had several attempts at Logging back in, but there has been a message on their Site saying that they are experiencing problems. This problem has been going on since around 7am this morning.
My Online Account with BET365 has been working okay so far, with NO Problems whatsoever….except for me trying to pick winners.

If I were Celtic. I’d make a final offer for Idah of around £7 million.
If Norwich wish to play silly buggers, then sign Myoski from Aberdeen, as he will be a lot better with out superior players

The rumor is that Southampton have offered Miovski 60k a week. Sounds improbable but it’s not impossible that Aberdeen, with EPL interest, will hold out for as long as Norwich are with Idah and the player will be more interested in a bigger wage in the Prem.
Initially, the possible signing of Schmeichel came with a thinly veiled dig at the manager on here.
Now that the signing appears to be a good ‘un, does Brendan get any credit?
Maybe it’s between the lines somewhere.
I’m in the camp who doesn’t think we can strengthen by maintaining the same squad.
Seems like inverted logic to me

the same players play better ? the manager and coaches make them get better performances ? having had a year in the job the players themselves , being also a year older get better ?
those not getting better get allowed to go elsewhere ?
See when supporters say the team hasn’t improved since last season, the Lisbon Lions were utter crap 3 years earlier.
Siegrist to Rapid Bucharest, bye…
I’ve just ordered a pint (leffe) in Wetherspoons, Northallerton and was graced by the presence of a gentleman in my close association who was comporting a hun jersey which precipitated my humming of a Tim favourite ‘sure it’s a grand auld team….’.
Are there any other ditties which are murmured by our family in the close presence of the vanquished?
It’s around 17,000 kilometres from Glasgow to Sydney. Moving to Bucharest cuts this distance down to 15,200 k
I think Lenny has bought another pig in a poke here

i had a long drive across glasgow yesterday afternoon, from the royal to port glasgow via the broomielaw, prw
cardonald and around there i had to wait in traffic,
at the bus stop was a quintisentually british speciman, late 50s, smoking, a bit overwieght by maybe 6 or 7 stomes (good old imperial measures). joggie bottoms but with a fine bet32 version of the royal blue sporting top, imagine if you will a kinning park update on john steed,
my grown up neice is in the car, she can be as daft as me, she says will you look at him, nae mirrors in that hoose ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and then dared me to ask him were he got his tap.
my missus gave me daggers, and put her fingers on the window control, to stop me.
och well, its those small things in life.
btw, how the flip does the orange mob get to decorate every lampost on paosely road.

Liverpool linked with O’Riley

I hope Matt stays for another season.
However, if he goes lets make sure we smash the Glass Ceiling.
Lets compare with Declan Rice. I realise Declan Rice is a defensive midfield player wheras Matt is more of a central attacking midfielder.
I thought Declan Rice was arguably Englands least effective player in the Euros. On these performances alone Matt looks comfortable in that company.
Ok, we know we are not going to get anywhere near the £105m that saw Rice go to Arsenal, but lets use that figure for negotiation
I read tjat we once made an audatious bit for Declan Rice, thankfully it failed. Hes not good enough to wear the hoops. A la Shane Duffy.

‘Trabzonspor have reached an agreement with James Tavernier to sign a two-year contract with the option of another year, but the Turkish club and Rangers are £850,000 apart in their valuation of the 32-year-old right-back.’
bbc gossip

Bobby Lennox was one.
*correct to falkirk, Bobby Murdoch emigratin tae Oz and the wee mhan also spurs , oh and although we did win the Scottish we only finished 8th in the League exactly 2 years prior to Lisbon
If we’re genuinely saying that staying the same is the new strengthening, that seems odd to me.
Reminds me of other glasgow based clubs, who celebrate their ‘like a new signing’ returns from injury.
Yes, players get more experienced. Learn to play together better. Young players get one year older. So do old players. Another seasons worth of knocks.
Our expectations really have been managed down if we’re celebrating staying the same. Hope the European results aren’t the same.
thats a true statement.
we havent really strengthened.
we arent a better team now than we were at the end of last season.
but we done the double last season.
but we also got pumped in europe yet again.
and we will be paying even more for our CL package this season because of the 4 home games.
i think we all know what the PLC strategy is – cream in tens of millions to stay a few points ahead of our nearest challenger (who are skint) in the league so theres a feel good factor at the end of the season when we are all partying in the merchant city – which i love obviously.
but it helps them to allow us to forget all the cash we have piled into the club just to win in scotland but get horsed in europe.
we charge ticket prices like a top euro team but we put a less than average euro team on the park.
fat cat capitalism at work
