Stellar career with recent patchwork of clubs

In the space of three days, Celtic have gone from having a goalkeeper deficit to looking like they are sorted for the coming campaign, and possibly for a few years to come.  Kasper Schmeichel will fill the leading role this season with Viljami Sinisalo as understudy.

Kasper is four years older than Joe Hart was when he joined in 2021.  Whereas Joe only played around 40 games in the four seasons before then, Kasper has been first choice everywhere he has been for 15 years.

While at Leicester two years ago, Brendan Rodgers sold then 36-year-old Kasper to Nice for £1m.  After one season in France, Nice promoted their reserve keeper to the top spot and released Kasper, who spent last season at Anderlecht.

That recent patchwork of clubs is the only concern in a stellar career for the Denmark captain.  At Celtic he will be required to cope with high pressure environments like cup finals and Champions League games, while helping to develop the career of the man who will hopefully succeed him.  His form at the Euros suggests he is ready for the task.

    None more so than Bobby Murdoch it inside right, did not like recieving ball with his back to oppositions goal. Big Jock moved him back and as they say ” The rest is history “. Bobby & Bertie ruled the midfield IMHO

    With regard to players coming and going, I am content to wait until the transfer window is closed. When we clinched the league and then went on to win the cup, I thought ‘what a great, contented summer I am going to have now’; and I continue to enjoy that glow of satisfaction. It will be time enough to start stressing about next year once the season starts.

    Not sure how many ` a few` is but the calibre of player who MIGHT make a difference would be in the region of 30 million. We , obviously, wouldn`t be paying that kind of money and players in that bracket would be unlikely to come to The SPFL.

    It will be a good night anyway. Despite me slipping on wet tiles in Tenerife and cracking a few ribs, no tiles were harmed.

     

     

    As I said earlier about players incoming, I am not fretting, what will be will be.
