I listened to Stiliyan Petrov talk calmly about cancer yesterday, as he sat with Liverpool’s James Milner ahead of your Foundation’s Match for Cancer next month. Just a few decades ago, his recovery would be considered miraculous.
Cancer will affect one in every two of us. That rate is higher than ever, as people live longer, but, what was a death sentence all too recently, is now treatable and often curable.
If you have been around CQN for long enough, you will know stories like Stiliyan’s are not always how things conclude. We have lost too many of our number, and more of our loved ones, to this awful disease.
So the work goes on. In memory of those we have lost, in appreciation of those who have come through successful treatment, and in that hope that our futures are increasingly spared. Cancer success stories are one of the wonders of the modern world, and while millions suffer this illness, millions more contribute to the cause of treating and eradicating it.
The game itself will be a gathering of the Celtic clans, not just because of the way this disease has touched so many, but because Henrik will once more grace Celtic Park, as will Lubo, the brilliant Hristo Stoichkov, and the phenomenal Gaizka Mendieta.
Scott Brown will play too and Brendan is manager of Stiliyan’s team. The great and the good are touched by this affliction, which is rapidly being controlled thanks to the efforts of millions.
The game takes place on Sunday 8 September (it’s an international break). Tickets cost £14 or £6 concessions. You can buy them here.
I Look forward to seeing you there.
Welcome to Celtic, Daniel Arzani. The 19-year-old winger-come-central defender (lighten up, honestly!) arrives on a two year loan, having joined Manchester City a few days ago.
A word of caution – an away game in the League Cup is not the game I would choose to play tomorrow. Get the job done professionally, Celtic.

thanks for quiz. Got most of the music pics right but lost my post going back and forward. Should have c&p it as you suggested!
Mahe
Thanks again for the quiz and congrats to Celtic Mac.
It will be a pleasure to hear the story but you might have to tell it in the same register as the Walrus of Love himself.

I am not sure Ajer will excel in any position. I do not think him or Jack Hendry are good enough to be Celtic players. Sorry for how I see it.

I am still unsure about Ajer … there is talent there for sure, but I am still not sure where he is best suited.
It seems now, if you are over 6’3″, you are put at CB … and if you can play a bit, you are a ‘ball playing CB’… but I am concerned that he has a very wide turning radius … he got turned several times quite easily in the greek game..
I would still like to see him played in the middle of the park … but, for some reason that I cant fathom, BR seems to think his opinion is worth more than mine!
:)
Joe Kennaway was signed by Jimmy McGrory was he not?
If the stuff about our Belgium renegade is true, I would not have him even near the u18’s Off to Glasgow green and train there. As I said before with that attitude I would be surprised if we could find a team daft enough to take him
Garry,
I think Kristoffer will make it.
I like the balls of the Bhoy Jack to stay as strong as he possibly could.

Thanks for that- we have a few TT’s and a couple of TTT’s. We used to have a TTTT and we recenlty lost a TET to the flouncing disease. It can be hard to discern true meaning from a MadMitch acronym stylee :-)

The Blog articles are always going to give a consistent view of Celtic as they are written by the same man, for the most part.
The Blog itself is neither truly nor allegedly one-sided. I take The Blog to mean most of us and the stuff which responds to or, since most of us ignore hte header topic, follows on from the article.
The most telling thing about P67’s handling of posters is the great Liberty he allows, with the 2 fairly consistent exceptions of Bad Language and Libellous comment. I see few examples of celtic Blogs which allow that degree of freedom. I wonder how many of us could rise above the level of personal abuse the blog host takes. I know I certainly would not tolerate it.
There are many great Celtic blog sites. I tend to post on here and feel comfortable in doing so. I still like other sites like The Huddleboard but I don’t take part because, amongst the gems of posts and humour that you get on there, there is a lot of “Aye! Yir Maw!” type responses to scroll by, and if you say anything on there, you have to be prepared for a stram of colourful and, to be fair, amusing rebuke.
I like the idea of there being variety, and even a wee bit of vanity and jealousu, in the Celtic Blogging sites but I cannot understand why anyone would stick around to hurl abuse at people you don’t respect. It’s a bit like a Trump supporter spending time on a “Snowflake” site to educate them on the error of their ways, or vice versa.
Posters can make their points on any side of the debate: they can even get heated and a bit personal at times, but there are lines. I lose a wee bit of respect for the argument being advanced when I see it dressed up in abuse.
On recruitment, I hear that the board have more faith in the names put forward by Mark Lawwell than those of Lee Congerton.

I would like Ajer and Hendry sold.

………………………………….
Who told you that?
DD & MIT
Of course both Ajer and Hendry have glaring weaknesses in their games. At 20 and 23 respectively, they are massively inexperienced in their positions. Both get exposed when playing on the left side of a defence (Boyata did that position better but he has the regular mistake in him, nonetheless). I still see more potential in both of them, but especially Ajer, than I see in Scott McKenna, who looks a ten-a-penny stopper to me. He’s not as strong as Bobo but he has the same footballing limitations. Centre Backs in a Brendan Rodgers team need to be comfortable on the ball- there is no alternative to that, other than getting a new manager.
I’d love us to have an experienced CB alongside these young boys. Kolo Toure played a few really good games for us before Europe exposed him as a spent force. Someone a few years younger but still close to 30 would be ideal for Celtic. However, I have no idea who that might be.
Mahe the Madman
Thanks for your efforts, but on the basis of complain when you are winning, but did you really deny me a point for the great Graham MacPherson of North London, aka ‘Suggs’ ? Surely not?
SFTB et al my co-miserations!
DD
I think both are good players who could get better but should not be first choices for Celtic at this stage.
Therefore I’m not going to criticise them for standing in and making a few errors due to our lack of strategy in the CH dept.

Well I am neither. I am an ex jungle dwelling season book holder through the 9 in a row for the gun Seville attender Celtic fan.

Paul enjoyed his cup final day out at ctic expense. I hope he enjoyed it. It’s one of his many freebies. As long as he holds the party line.
Shall I tell you who mods for can? Naw I will let paul67 tell you.
Blaming the messenger is as old as the hills and was dumb then as now.
The fact you two want to spread disinformation or fake news as it is called says a lot about you and your motives.
Look cqn is dead. Paul killed it but he is trying to milk it for his own self worth and progression but all his demons are catching up with him.

I wouldn’t sell DB, take Bertie’s advise, he can train on his own, escorted for the Season…

OK – Cheers for the info.
Celtic should be in that CL Cheat League Every time……..
Aidan has bet me £1 that we will have more than 52000 @ the Europa League Qualifier.
I bet against.

The stuff that appears under the CQN banner is actually commissioned?
Surely not.
I stupidly clicked the Dembele to Marseille article the other day and was left totally disgusted…….at myself for being so stupid to click.
Answer my first question Neganon.
‘The crisis is worst that you know’ or words to that effect.
What do you know and how will it play out?
Denayer isnae whats needed anyway – Celtic need a Committed CH.
He knows the Club and ain’t been up for it. Fair play to the dood.
The young bhoy from Oz is likely to see little game time especially as he has been pushed on.
There is no doubt who will be to blame for the failure to get 8 in a row.

GUTENBERG @ 10:19 PM,
I’m a wee bit confused by that… easily done:(
Are you saying…
…you have heard from a good source(s) that ML is more trusted than LC in the names put forward for potential recruitment by Celtic?
…are you suggesting this is (could be) a good thing?

Sorry I just meant the main Blog article was written (mostly) by the host.
I think other writers may be responsible for the other stories that are linked but do not have comments attached.
I don’t know about “commisoned” though.

SFTB,
What did you think about Paul saying we will win the Scottish League forever?
The Bhoy from……
Insightful stuff, thanks the contribution.
Chairbhoy
I’m not suggesting anything just saying.
On a personal note I wish/hope it’s not true because then we’ve got a dud in Lee Congerton and maybe that doesn’t reflect well on Brendan.
