STOKES IN DEMAND?

The Bolton boss, who paid Hibs £1million for the Republic of Ireland frontman in 2010, is said to be keen to land the player for the Championship side.

Stokes scored 68 goals in four seasons under Lennon, but has netted only four in this campaign with Ronny Deila in charge.

Lennon will be scouring the transfer market for a goalscorer with on-loan Adam Le Fondre due to return to Cardiff City at the end of the term.

Stokes, 26, will almost certainly be on his radar as he attempts to revive Bolton.

Stokes was recently played as Celtic’s loan striker by Ronny Deila at St Mirren but failed to impress. He has had more success under the new manager wide on the left although the arrival os Stuart Armstrong could mean that the ex-Hibs forward could be surplus to requirements come the summer.

Neil Lennon would be likely to play him as part of a front two and at the weekend the ex-Celtic manager heaped praise on Stokes’ former striking partner Gary Hooper.
