Stokes mentor Hughes and O’Dea at Dees

488

Anthony Stokes joining up with John Hughes for a third time, on this occasion in Inverness, would be a great move for all concerned. Hughes knows how to get the best out of the player, who is wasting away in the stands at Celtic. There will be a financial consideration, as unlike a team in the English Championship, Inverness will not be able to cover all of Stokes’ wages, but Celtic are better having a contribution to his wages than nothing.

Anthony is still only 27, he could have several productive years ahead, but he needs to get back to putting the ball in the net somewhere (last goal was against St Mirren in December 2014).

Also delighted to see Darren O’Dea back in Scottish football at Dundee. As we discussed last week, Dundee are full of goals at both ends of the field at the moment. An experienced international like Darren (28) will help.

I went to my first game on Saturday since the middle of November and was very disappointed by the teams performance, disjointed is one way to look at the movement of the team but to me half the team didn’t look very interested in playing for Celtic, I’ve heard rumours that the dressing room isn’t happy but to stop playing well isn’t the answer, not playing for the team will only make matters worse, if they have a problem surely it’s better to have it out with whoever they think is their problem, they? should speak to the club captain to speak to the coach about their grievences, if they have a grievence, better to get it out in the open than let it fester, the problem will only get worse.

There are bhoys on here that blame the head coach for Celtics troubles, myself, the coach isn’t good enough to make Celtic play as bad as they are playing now, by the way I haven’t got a problem with Celtic’s coach, he had the team playing good passing football, the coach certainly never coached the players to play as they’re playing now, that doesn’t wear with me.

Maybe I’m a bit hardened, I first watched Celtic when they were really bad (in the early 50s),Tully was my excuse, He made me a Celtic supporter, it was certainly not because they were a good football team team back then, there’s always something that happened that makes you want to support your team, it could be 1957, or 1967,or even 9 in a row, but more than likely taken to watch Celtic when you were a kid,and you got hooked.

Celtic aren’t playing great football at the moment but you couldn’t ask for any more than being 2nd top, 1 point behind, with two games in hand, especially when your not performing that great.

Can’t beat a good bit of Hun baiting on social media. Fortunately I have muted most of them so can’t see their reply’s but seriously these guys will most likely be in our stadia next season singing their hate songs and wrecking the infrastructure, I for one will seriously be looking at our club’s pricing policy for season tickets if they do come up and any increase above inflation will result in me staying away and concentrating on junior football.

Video clips can be deceiving – some poor defending & goalkeeping in there – but he shows great strength and determination, something apparently lacking with Celtic at the moment.

  10. I cannot believe all this crap about Stokes being needed.

He came back from Eire more than a day late before the Inter game in 2012. RD was furious and did not play him——he missed a day’s training, only a few hours before the game. Since then he has shown that he is selfish and not a team player.

If the guy was Jinky good, worth saving.

Good riddance…..and good luck to him.

Efe Ambrose could be set for a money-spinning switch to China, with Shanghai SIPG boss, Sven Goran Eriksson, reportedly keen on the defender.

Ambrose, who has featured in 19 games this season, is attracting interest from Eriksson’s Shanghai SIPG, who have plenty of cash to spend.

The report suggests that Shanghai SIPG gave Asamoah Gyan a contract worth £162,000-a-week.

And with riches to offer, they are hoping to tempt Ambrose over to China.

    NO FLIES ON KING

RANGERS International Football Club plc note Rangers First’s decision to seek approval from its members to offer the Club a loan of £500,000.The Club is not considering further loans at this time beyond what has already been committed and announced. However, any offer from Rangers First will be considered as part of any future fund raising.Rangers remains committed to forging even closer links with supporters and the Club is working on a new initiative to make this possible. It is hoped all of the Club’s fan groups, including Rangers First, will participate fully in acquiring a larger stakeholding in the company and this initiative by Rangers First could be incorporated into such a proposal. It should also be understood that Rangers First was not approached by the Club for funding and, despite what has been incorrectly reported, had no discussion whatsoever with the chairman, Dave King, that their funding, if accepted, would be matched by Mr King.

December is the Mango season in South Africa with an abundance of flies being drawn by the aroma of this tropical fruit. However we could never accuse Dave King of having flies on his mango as he never misses a trick. Despite stating that it would take £30-£50m to rebuild Rangers, and that he would put up half, he moved quickly to dismiss a story in the Record that he would match the £500,000 gift from Rangers First with money from his beleaguered First Capital bank account. He cannot even draw an MMI dividend this year as he has presided over a calamitous 45% drop in turnover and capital market value in the past year. His salary is only £200,000 per annum. Despite his lies to the contrary here is a statement confirming that he cannot even produce £500,000 to match Rangers First. This is a PR disaster. King is either flat broke or unwilling to loan his own money.

Of course a cursory glance at our two out of contract signings in the January transfer window and the news that four players are being pushed out the door to raise funds, tells us all we need to know about the current cash crisis.

Rangers First should be aware that if they loan the club £500,000 this will only cover King’s legal expenses. It won’t improve the squad or repair the wi-fi. It will go directly to keeping him out of jail, as was the £50m he spent in South Africa to the same end.

Should the supporters clubs crowdfund King’s legal expenses their stupidity will be unparalleled.

  16. What kind of a hate filled bigoted little backwater of a ‘nation’ do we live in?? Daily rags that are not fit for puppy training, that cant even report fact, that spin blatant lies, that promote the biggest scam in british sporting history, that not only devote column after column to Scotland’s shame. Sporting governing bodies that are already being dismissed in view of their ‘investigation’ into inappropriate singing.. and the national broadcaster whose piece on an amateur teams participation in the national cup, cant pass Celtic park from 50 yards away, but takes a detour to advertise a ground on the other side of the city.

We are living in a filth hole of a country.. surrounded by filth and fed nothin but filth.
