STOPPAGE-TIME WOE FOR ON-LOAN CELT

ON-LOAN teenage Celts Ben Summers and Ben McPherson made their debuts for new clubs Dunfermline and Queen’s Park yesterday.

The midfielder and defender, both highly rated at Parkhead, agreed season-long switches to the Championship sides during the week, as CQN reported.

In front of a crowd of 8,892 at Tannadice, Summers came on as a 57th-minute substitute for Michael O’Halloran in the Fifers’ 1-1 draw with newly-relegated Dundee United who had ex-Hoops frontman Tony Watt leading the attack.

Shortly after the introduction of the attacking middle-of-the-park performer, Craig Wighton headed the visitors into the lead, but a dramatic stoppage-time effort from Mathew Cudjoe rescued a point for the home side.

Versatile McPherson, who can play right-back or centre-half, was also introduced as a second-half substitute in the Hampden outfit’s 2-1 win over Arbroath.

Barry Hepburn opened the scoring just before the break and Ruari Paton claimed the points clincher after Leighton McIntosh had levelled.
