Straight answer to straight question

107

You and I discussed on Tuesday how unlikely it was Celtic were interested in Odsonne Edouard, despite media reports to the contrary.  Yesterday, when asked a straight question about Odsonne, Brendan Rodgers gave a straight answer, “Odsonne hasn’t been on my radar, to be fair.”  The player was worth four days’ worth of news-cycle before someone asked and received an update from Celtic.  We are not watching football industry in action, it’s the news industry.

Brendan did not mince his words either, “This team needs hunger, goals and work rate and intensity.

“Big names don’t always give you that.

“I just want players who are hungry to learn but also ready now.”

That’s about as damning as it gets from a manager in a good mood after an a successful preseason workout.

A year after planning for the immediate term, Celtic seem to have pivoted back to a development plan.  Let’s hope its execution matches the achievements of the 2021-24 period.

too simplistic to say it is just fitness levels are upped and can then perform with more intensity ?

I was intrigued by the UEFA Financial report that had the Rangers as earning more per fan spending than the Celtic do, al beiit by a figue of 3 euros average.

Our 10,000 season book sales are not the difference for us that we think they are, due mostly to the mix of concession and youth ticekts being considerably higher ratio, than full prices non concession rangers tickets.

In effect out kids pay around 3!50 for 2 x rangers games and the other 17 on the ticket.

our over 65s pay less than their rangers counterparts.

Overall for 2023/24 they earned 2. million euros per game, and we earned 2m.

this is going to change by some margin as we had 300.000 more seats sold last season (29 gameves v 25).

and higher premium seats in the champions league.

we actually cannot stop making money, so the board dont need tgaf about how much newcastle costs.

me, but 10 years or so ago, on a big week long company event.

i didnt like it, terrible heat, terrible transport, horrible sights out the bus window, stayed in a compound hotel, but they didnt let you out the gates to the wee district outside.

we had an event at the kasbah, during a terrorist alert, and all the high walls had soldiers on them with guns.

the women in our big european group were hassled,.

i blame the company for not thinking more of local events at that time.

i sat in a restraunt and commented on the fresh new ceiling and pain not being in keeping with the ancient surroundings, to be told it had been shot up some weeks before.

anyway, dont let me put you off i did hear the atlas mountains are better.

I enjoyed it. It’s a bit mental, once you get over the culture shock it’s full on but good fun. Very different to anywhere else I’ve been

  32. I think KT at left back hugely improves our chances of qualifying. From our weakest position to our strongest.

Since Dortmund we’ve been very good defensively in the CL

I’d be very confident that with our back 5 and the experience of Calmac in front of them we’ll be a very difficult team to score against.
