The Scottish Government yesterday suggested the SFA act unilaterally to introduce Strict Liability on the game, making clubs liable for the actions of their lunatic fringe, or else the government would impose measures. This is a curious stance for a government who are not prepared to accept ANY liability for their own lunatic fringe.
When the lunatics in charge only see other people’s lunatics, we’re all in trouble. And it should be noted, lunatics inhibiting a democracy cause vastly more damage than football fans fighting on a field once every 36 years.
The notion of Strict Liability in itself is a separate question, but I have serious concerns at the increasingly right wing, and selective, attitude to law and control at Holyrood.
If you want to impose Strict Liability on football, accept if for yourself first. Then come back after a year’s experience and talk to us about football. This, of course, will never happen. Not all lunatic fringes are equal.

Like i’ve always said “they’re gonna get away with it” regardless of adverts.
What folk in scoddland forget is………………………..every other team in 17th century scoddyland would rather have the huns than the Celtic (apart from a very few who support other clubs)
Hence the SILENCE from the other hun infested clubs.
They dont care they’ve been cheated out of cash.
Turnbull Hutton seen it, pity he was on his lonesome !!!!

Greenpinta-late reply from last night.i was at Hampden to see The Boss- I called out to James Forrest in particular, who writes daily about Celtic, but doesn’t go to see the team. We are at a stage where we have shown a lot of ambition,if you can get to Celtic Park, then try your best to go. I wasn’t implying that if you can’t go through ill health, finance ,travel problems etc,it doesn’t make you a lesser fan than a ST holder. I have been lucky enough to be able to afford a ST,29 IAR…;)), but have long advocated a pay at the gate option as not everyone can afford one. Guys on here have issues with PL,lack of leadership, staying silent too many times etc etc. The biggest thing through all the politics ,is going to Celtic Park to support the team on the pitch, that will never change for me. I hope guys who have issues with the Club ,can park them(without forgetting them),and support what is happening at Celtic now. HH

TheBarcaMole if that was aimed at me, I was just surprised that Paul67 made a political comment , he usually steers away from politics, quite rightly. This is first and foemost a Celtic football blog but i accept one can post what you want. I never comment on politics on here, there are other more appropriate sites to let off steam on that front. Each to their own. H H Hebcelt

Disappointed in seeing you indulging in Stewart Robertson style ‘Whitabootery,
As for 36 years. I didn’t realise that amount of time had passed since NL was set upon at Tynecastle.
Nor since he, aiden McGeady and Nial McGinn were getting abused up and down the country.
Also it is only a couple of years ago that my then seven year old grand daughter sat in terror as visiting Ajax fans went on the rampage.
As for the SNP Government that so many on here despise. They can eventually be dealt with at the ballot box.
Paul67…just had a call from the gardener at UEFA headquarters. He’s presently cutting the grass and wants to know if someone can move the frigging tanks off the lawn…

Spot on mate.
Guys flouncing off the blog, some repeatedly telling us they wouldn’t go back to CP until x/y/z happens, and all the while Res 12 has been progressing behind the scenes between Celtic and the Resolutioners.
One well known poster stated he won’t be back until Lawwell has gone, even though there has been an obvious strategic changes implemented to correct the failings of recent years.
Baffling.
Back the team – these are great times.

Brendan Rodgers tells Celtic fans to bring the noise
By: Martin Dalziel on 02 Jun, 2016 12:24
MORE than 13,000 supporters packed into the main stand at Paradise to welcome the dawn of the Brendan Rodgers Revolution at Celtic last month and the new manager says that special day has whetted his appetite for life as Hoops boss.
Fans flocked to the home of the Scottish champions to greet the former Liverpool manager to Glasgow, filling the stadium with noise and colour on a memorable day in the club’s recent history as a new era got underway.
The Celtic manager was stunned by the passionate reception the support gave him and he said he wants to see that type of atmosphere replicated throughout the entire stadium when he takes charge of his first match from the dugout.
“I’m really excited about that,” he told Celtic TV in an exclusive interview. “It’s going to be a day I’m really looking forward to in terms of walking out there as the official manager in a game context.
“It can be a really exciting season for us but for that we need the supporters. I really do want to see the stadium full.
“This is an iconic club that is graced around the world and is respected by so many supporters, so for us to sell that brand of Celtic Football Club around the world we want to make sure we see it’s packed.
“It doesn’t matter who we’re playing. The players really respond to it and you can have over 60,000 in there.
“The atmosphere they create, I felt it with 13,000. The noise level was incredible so to send that message out, not just to Scotland but around the world, having a full Celtic Park with over 60,000 with that noise, that’s something I’m really looking forward to seeing.”

What lunatics?
Those who have presided over the decline in Schools and access to Univerities over their entire time in power in Scotland.
Those who have centralised emergency services and seen them fail. People dying at roadsides and armed Police roaming streets.
Those who have starved local councils of funds and power resulting in the slashing of services for the most vulnerable.
Those who preside over a failing NHS and invest proportionally less in it than in England.
Those who allow students from every country in the EU free tuition and yet deny this to our brothers and sisters from England.
Those who free a convicted mass murderer to live out a further three years of life at home after receiving a hero’s welcome.
Those who get elected on a no-fracking ticket and abstain en masse when it comes to a vote.
Those who introduce the OB act in order to even up the score between Rangers and Celtic.
Those who do deals with a notorious Chinese company and then backtrack and deny it.
Those who would rather cut airline taxes, rather than use that money to invest in services.
Those who preach about goings on in other parties as their own becomes mired in sleaze on a weekly basis.
What about STRICT LIABILITY for the SNP?
Mr Pastry
Dont give us your Dinosaur Labour Unionism Gordon Brown spiel.
We have heard it all before.
You are very boring.
Get back in your box.
TD67 – say hello to my uncle and wee cousin – both called Calford.
Traditionalist ….
As one who says that I wont watch Celtic unless and until Celtic does something to address the issues, I will try to explain why I feel that is the right course of action.
Celtic used to be a family …. now, I believe the Club sees fans primarily as purchasers/consumers ….If money is the only or most important factor for the Board, and the fans want the Board and Club to reflect the views of the fans, then the fans must make sure that they speak in a language the Board understands … the language of money.
In the short term, not buying tickets may be failing to support the TEAM. But, if (and I say if because the evidence at this stage is circumstantial), buying tickets supports a regime whose believes are antithetical to the traditions of Celtic and the views of most fans, then withholding fund until their is a regime change, or at least a change of approach, is the only way to bring about the changes we want to see.
As such, I see withholding money to force the changes we want as actually, in the long term, supporting the CLUB.
On its present course, the Club that we love is, I believe, dying on the vine; It is losing its soul. Something needs to be done before it is too late.
Sometimes the medicine tastes bad, and/or makes you feel worse in the short term, but in the long term, the patient survives, and prospers..
Who would win in a fight between a bear and a hun?

Your comments have nothing to do with strict liability and I didn’t think that’s what Paul67 meant by them. I might be wrong though.
mike in toronto on 2nd June 2016 2:36 pm
Its not a viable short term plan. Look at the season tickets flying out the door. A fraction of a percent of the support sitting at home moping is probably standard for a club our size and is not going to change anything.
We have been a PLC since the mid 90s – there are advantages and disadvantages to that.
Do we want growth or not? Do we want to go back to the days when if there was 5 people in the club shop the rest had to queue outside?
Show us the grand plan – otherwise I see only a futile protest.
Things are looking up. more positive than they have for a long time – its time to get back on board mate

I hope what it says is that have a mind of my own and will judge issues and actions honestly, based on facts and not ‘jolly along’ just be one of the crowd.
There are many things that I believe and hold against the SFA, however without proof, they must stay as such.
When I first started out in business, a wise, and now quite famous man told me that although working hard was always important, constantly doing so and getting no positive outcome was futile and amounted to being a ‘busy fool’.
I am sure you have heard that expression.
I think the Requisitioners got carried away, concentrating only on the outcome that they wanted, egged on by their cheerleaders/funders and have fundementally failed to prove or deliver their desired outcome.
Some of course ‘jumped on the bandwagon’ as they seen it as a chance to ‘put the boot into’ all at Celtic FC – PL, DD and the board, for their perceived silence.
MIH/RFC manipulated the process – HMRC apparently did not enforce the terms contained in their May 5 2011 ‘final demand’.
I see that you do not take issue with any of the points I make, rather you have a go at me personally. That is unfortunate, but expected.
