The Scottish Government yesterday suggested the SFA act unilaterally to introduce Strict Liability on the game, making clubs liable for the actions of their lunatic fringe, or else the government would impose measures. This is a curious stance for a government who are not prepared to accept ANY liability for their own lunatic fringe.
When the lunatics in charge only see other people’s lunatics, we’re all in trouble. And it should be noted, lunatics inhibiting a democracy cause vastly more damage than football fans fighting on a field once every 36 years.
The notion of Strict Liability in itself is a separate question, but I have serious concerns at the increasingly right wing, and selective, attitude to law and control at Holyrood.
If you want to impose Strict Liability on football, accept if for yourself first. Then come back after a year’s experience and talk to us about football. This, of course, will never happen. Not all lunatic fringes are equal.

I didn’t comment on your points, did I ?
I did commented on your hostile, provocative and hostile words. Or as you may have put it, have a go at folk personally. But you seem keen to steer things from that simple fact.
Mats your words if I may , “I have no peers on here – only others with the an equal right to their opinion….and of course the name-callers’, who alas betray paucity of their input”.
Can I ask what do you mean no peers on here ? if you fail to answer anything else fair enough, but go on explain that one…………..
Name callers indeed……….that’ll be you. Which brings me on to, paucity of input……..

Traditionalist … last post, then I really do have to run for a while mate.
The Res 12 guys have earned my trust and respect, and as they have requested that we be patient these last few years, I like others, have tried.
but there are still too many unanswered questions….
I dont know what has been delivered, and what Celtic’s role in that has been …. maybe some do, but I dont… for me, I have seen no evidence of Celtic’s efforts to address the issues…
as I said yesterday, Schrodinger’s cat works in quantum mechanics… but in the real world, if you leave a cat in the box for 4 or 5 years, you can be pretty sure that when the box is opened, you are going to find a stinky dead cat.
Just back from the beach.
Zlatan ?
For what it’s worth I saw him on Italian tele last Tuesday night – pouring scorn on a rumoured return to Sweden – ” I am still way too good for that ” and claiming that he had lots of suitors willing to cough up the necessary ” million a month ” – I assume that is euros
I was born in 1959, and during my lifetime, politics and sport have a destiny that is forever entwined. The following list will not be exhaustive, but off the top of my head:
The Summer Olympics of 1964 marked the start of South Africa’s long exile from major international sports, due to its apartheid society.
The 1968 Olympic’s saw black American athletes make black power gestures on the winners podium.
4 years later, the Munich Olympic’s were overshadowed by the murder of Israeli athletes by Palestinian extremists.
There were politically motivated boycotts of the Olympics in Moscow, Los Angeles and Seoul.
Various touring rugby and cricket teams have had controversial tours of South Africa, either completed or stopped by protests.
Football sparked off an actual war between Honduras and El Salvador in the late 60’s
Club football all over the world has political allegiances and undercurrents, such as Athletic Bilbao (Basque Nationalism), Barcelona (Catalan Nationalism), SC Bastia (Corsican Nationalism) and
Beitar Jerusalem (Jewish Nationalism)
Indeed, our own club were founded as a charitable response to a political issue.
Don’t involve Politics with Sport? Difficult, if the history of sport is anything to go by.
Hail Hail………………and Viva the Revolution!!! ;))

What was delivered literally was a culmination of 2-3 years work between the resolutioners and Celtic.
What may or may not be delivered in terms of the end game in all of this is up to Uefa, but Celtic can’t be blamed if Uefa decide to deflect

if the nazi snp impose a law on the SFA,FIFA WOULD LOOK VERY SERIOUSLY THAT,and would more than likely ban Scotland from all tournaments and scottish teams from european competition,Why people who voted for the wee nippy cult of right wing scum are now surprised at the turn of events,,are so surprised, does not shock me they are obviously in \a state of tartan brainwashing,we really need to wake up and rid ourselves of the white heather club running or is it ruining this province.

Posters who get annoyed at Mr Pastry should try this handy hint.
Rather than think of veteran actor/performer Richard Hearne, I think of that cute wee guy, the Pilsbury Dough Boy.
Who could stay angry with him, with his winning, giggling laugh when you press your finger on his podgy belly?

Oh Holy God, Another one pops up.
The various sayings of my dearly departed Mum, keep popping up as I read CQN.
“Never argue with a Fool at their level”
“The Devil finds work for Idle Hands”, in the case of CQN read Idle Minds.
“What you’d see when you wouldn’t have a gun,”
There are plenty more, when this place is good it’s a pure joy, but sometimes it’s just a pure pain in the ass.
With that final thought. I’ll bid ye good denizens of CQN all the best for the while.
Hopefully when someone definitely goes or signs, a sensible conversation will ensue.
I see Mr Pastry has joined the Timternet Twitter ranks…
Hunderbirds, last post not referring to you, you will know I can’t type that fast anyway.
I’m trying to imagine what strict liability would look like for a Scottish Government?
For a FC there are a range of sanctions applied if their ‘supporters’ break a range of pre-determined ‘rules’.
What pre-determined rules would a Government have to breach in order to be chargeable?
What would the review/court process look like to explore the charges?
What would the sanctions be?
Mr Pastry’s list may be policy weaknesses/embarrassments he disagrees with but it doesn’t amount to pre-set rules that a Government might have breached?
Would it relate to the behaviour/conduct of all the citizenry/subjects (depending on your point of view) and that if said citizenry broke those rules the Government would be sanctioned?
So for every conviction under the OB Act the Government might be sanctioned because said citizen had broken the rules and so all society is ‘punished’?
If it was a ‘fine’ where would that go? A rebate to the offenders (all citizens) seems bonkers?
Example please Paul for… enlightenment…

Bored.
When do celtic play again?
I took a pounding yesterday on Twitter attempting to disect and define the finer points of Resolution 12 to Celtic supporters with no idea what it stands for. Some of them are unsympathetic to the cause to say the least.
I brought the conversation continually back to the issue- are you comfortable with being cheated?
Bored tae.
The Stars Align
2 June 2016
After the sensational signing of manager Brendan Rodgers, the stars have aligned for Celtic as they look to sign Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Ibrahimović has famously never won the Champions League and sees this year as his last chance. Knowing his history and the magic that surrounds Celtic, Zlatan has decided to honour his heros, the Lisbon Lions, by winning the Champions League 50 years after their famous achievement.
Zlatan is quoted as saying, ” I can’t wait to play in the Hoops. Everything I’ve done until now has been building up to this point. Being a Celt and winning the big cup has always been my dream!”
Mark Warburton couldn’t be found so we will have to do without his opinion this time.

My friends in Celtic,
Interesting reading about Strict Liability and how it could affect the Scottish Government. Does the OB act actually fall foul of article 6 of the European Convention on human rights. ?
Although I’m not a legal eagle I would be confident that Ambiguity is absolutely no defence for the Scottish Government in what is a draconian monstrosity of a law.
HH.
Strict liability a better option than the current stupid law. We better sort out our songbook though.
Labour had decades to challenge sectarianism in Scotland. Apart from encouraging it when it suited them, they did nothing.
SPL will look farcical when Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts and ourselves are deducted point after point.
Assuming Aberdeen and Hearts are also punished for their moronic chants.
