Stunning charity effort by Celtic fans

936

A big well done to everyone who participated in the efforts to send Vanessa Riddle to Philadelphia for crucial medical treatment.  The £500k required was raised yesterday.

Brogan Rogan’ brought the issue to the blog and Taggsybhoy arranged the CQN Music Quiz earlier this month, our first formal activity for Vanessa.  Penfold gave us a signed Celtic top at the quiz which raised an incredible £5000 on eBay (plus gift aid) from a Celtic fan who, quite simply, gets what following this club is all about.

Not only did he pay £5000 but he told us to keep the shirt and use it again!  We then raffled the shirt on eBay and raised almost £1400.  You are all part of an incredible story by an incredible support.

The draw for the signed shirt took place at Uefa headquarters in Nyon, you can watch the video of below and find out if you won.

Our thanks again to Andrew in Belfast for his tireless help with the site this week.  The new ‘whyte’ template is in place and we’ll continue to restore functionality.

Craig Whyte is just after speeding past my house on what looked to me like a stolen horse.

Funny you should say that. Keith Jackson currently on Talksport just saying that Moisty is currently within “The Big House” horse trading.

He also states to his 2 radio buddies that he has never ever ever been taken in by MBB. He knew all along. This guy has no credibility at all.

Keys sounds gutted about the whole thing so you can imagine how Gray feels.

  2. To those contemplating giving Rangers a hiding on 25 March due to impending job cuts. Just a word of warning, a dog on its last days can be very dangerous. There is nothing they would love more than to give us a bloody nose and a right few injuries.

The players I am sure will be told on no uncertain terms that it won’t be an easy game. Complacency is the enemy of many a good team. We need to be on our toes and if they are on the way out, give them a game they won’t forget.

Alas sasa papac. Your ride on the private jet will keep you warm in the night.

Some old friends in this piece from the BBC….

    31/8/2006

    Rangers complete signing of Papac

Papac will be the third player to arrive at Ibrox from Austria Vienna

Rangers have signed 26-year-old defender Sasa Papac from Austria Vienna for £450,000.

Papac had travelled from Malta, where he was with the Bosnia-Herzegovina squad, to Glasgow to complete a three-year deal late on Thursday.

He said: “It has been a crazy day, but I was determined to join Rangers.

“I arrived in Malta with the national team and then got on a private jet to come to Scotland and now I have to go back again. It’s all been worth it.”

Papac becomes the third capture by Rangers from the Austrian club this summer.

Ibrox manager Paul Le Guen had already raided the Austrians for midfielder Libor Sionko and striker Filip Sebo.

Sasa is a player I have been aware of for some time and he gives us more options in defence

    Rangers manager Paul Le Guen

“It is fantastic for me to join a great club like this and, of course, I will be getting back together with Libor Sionko and Filip Sebo,” said Papac.

“I have been in touch with them all the time about the move.

“I spoke to Filip twice today and everything he said about Rangers was good. It was the same with Libor.

“The three of us won the double in Austria last season and it is my dream that we can win the championship and cup with Rangers.”

It appears that funds were released after Rangers negotiated the release of four defenders.

Bob Malcom, Marvin Andrews, Olivier Bernard and Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan all left the Glasgow club on Thursday.

Le Guen said: “One defender was be enough to complete our squad because I think we have a good group of players here now.

“We are well stocked in the attacking areas, but it is a long season and I feel that we needed one more defender to round off the group.

“Sasa is a player I have been aware of for some time and he gives us more options in defence.”

Rangers chief executive Martin Bain added: “We have to thank national team coach Blaz Sliskovic for allowing Sasa to come to Scotland to complete the deal.”

Hehe..I wasn’t at it honest. I had a text from a mate who didn’t understand that Jackson was just a nonsense case reporter as opposed to a nonsense case administrator. :)

Is the big house still open ? -)

  10. Keith Jackson just told Talksport unless a buyer steps in they will be liquidated.

This buyer will need £120m in my book. That ain’t happening.

Will they get a redundancy payment for each contract?

    ——-

I would imagine they would have to wait in line with all the other creditors and if they stay out of liquidation they would get a pennies in the £ settlement. If they go into liquido then they will get zilch.

A wee bit of much needed sanity on this forum.

  14. Mort (11:54), perhaps we should send the first team squad away for a wee well-earned break in Tenerife, and put the youth team out at Ibroke.

And just to rub it in re: the tickets, perhaps we should take our allocation from them and tell them we’ll let them have the money once they have been sold. Then, simply wait until the day of the game and return all the tickets (unsold).

I’m sure our youth team players will be so keyed up for the big occasion that they won’t be in the slightest bit bothered that there are no Hoops fans to cheer them on.
