Stunning endeavours on the Ben

614

Absolutely stunning tales of endeavour from those who climbed the tallest peak on these isles yesterday for the Ben Nevis Huddle to raise funds for Celtic FC Foundation.  The Foundation anchors our club to its founding principles, working locally and worldwide towards four goals:

Improve Health
Promote Equality
Encourage Learning

Tackle Poverty

It survives because lots of ordinary Celtic fans step forward, or put their hands in their pockets, because they believe Celtic is a lofty and noble cause.

If you’ve not been able to support any of the climbers direct, inspiration for the event is primarily the responsibility of Mark Cameron, you can find his Foundation linked MyDonate page here.

If you’re in business check out The Celtic Network’s new Service Finder’s opportunity to market to Celtic fans.

Visit the CQN Bookstore to get Tommy Gemmell to sign your personal copy of his book, All the Best.

  1. When I watch the likes of Robben, I abandon my Corinthian principles and long for an opponent to put him right up in the air and hit him on the volley as he falls to the ground.

  2. BSR

He had earlier hurdled a wild challenge by Marques in the box when keeping going would have produced definite contact and a stonewall penalty. Didn’t last long!

  3. If the ref hud a booked him in the first half fir diving he wouldn’t huv done the dying swan act tae cheat fir the winner, hate the wee tit!.

Should really be betting these both teams to score as singles n Dbls, kept away from both teams in the Columbia game, suppose I should be thankful for anything I get,

    It’ll be analysed to death.

Why didn’t he jump the tackle like he did in the first half?

    Swan Diving Fandango.

  6. Arjen Robben has a bit of the Benjamin Button about him, a 60 yr old head on a 20 yr old body.

  7. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

    an tearmann,

Do you think he may be heading for Govan?

Wasn’t that flagged a coupled months ago?

  8. Robben is one of the oldest-looking 30 year olds I’ve ever seen.

He could pass for Johann Cruyff’s big brother!

Maybe he’d been thinking.. . .”I’ll give this fair play a try. . . .nah!”

  10. Happy because I had the Dutch in the predictor but really feel for the Mexicans, such a cruel ending for them.

  12. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Hamiltontim, you are right about new technology being a positive, the young man dying of cancer being a good indication of that. However, it can be manipulated for all sorts of nasty unfounded rumours.

In saying that, I would prefer Celtic to communicater more via twitter, facebook and fans sites rather than using sky sevco news, bbc, itv and the vultures in the SMSM.

I was in the company of a sports reporter when Kenny did press conferences in Baird’s and the Celtic Supporters Association. He told me the reason they were done there was so our fans present could hear what was actually said not what the media wanted us to hear, with what was said not being taken out of context.

  13. Called it. Me to Dutch wife in 84th minute: “There’s still time for two if they get one soon. If they get the first, it will shock Mexico, and with five minutes likely extra time, they’ll have time for the winner.” And after the Robben dive / Huntelaar “penalty”, I told her I wanted the Dutch to win, but not like *that*. Can’t say I’m surprised though: It’s Robben. Hell of a keeper Mexico has though, he can’t write his ticket the transfer window …

I would agree with you about Celtic communicating more through Twitter, the official site etc but I think that the club are getting better with that sort of thing.

I suppose a difficulty though is that there will still be many, many supporters who rely on information about Celtic coming from more traditional sources regardless of the spin put on things.

I used to go on the bus from Bairds, I’m no sure I’d trust many of the clientele to report their own names with any accuracy :-)

I understood why it was done but I found the tactic of going round venues to hold press conferences to be cringeworthy.

  15. I expect Ochoa’s agent will be working overtime over the next few days/weeks.

  16. Thomthethim for oscar

Your correct Thom he was linked with a move to the them

Sorry I camt c&p but the Dundee site thanks him

BBC site tho suggests he ‘ pursues other opportunities within the sport’

I would say he will stay in the game, going to them who lnows, but they appear to have found a new squinty seam of funding re nerlinger, boyd miller etc

  17. Tallybhoy: Barcelona are in need of a keeper. (Real Madrid too, if Casillas has fallen off the edge as bad as it appears he has …)
