Sturgeon’s unsubstantiated innuendo against Celtic

370

Nicola Sturgeon, used her PR stage yesterday to posing a question implying Celtic were actively breaking Covid rules, which is clearly untrue.  The First Minister said:

“I have also seen some photographs, and I don’t know the full circumstances, that would raise a question in my mind about whether all the rules elite players have to follow in their bubble around social distancing are being complied with.”

This is a rhetorical device of those practised at manipulation.  Throw in an “I don’t know”, which technically negates what follows, but allows you to make any unsubstantiated allegations, even those you highly suspect to be untrue.

She has responsibility to set the rules and ensure they are monitored.  If she is unhappy with the rules she sets, she should own that responsibility.

This crisis is not a game.  Our First Minister used her position yesterday to throw unsubstantiated innuendo in the direction of Celtic.  Our political leaders need to be responsible when they make unsubstantiated comments THEY KNOW will stir up anger and resentment against a club who only hours earlier complained at not being protected from sectarian crime.  Cut the innuendo crap and find a better government that Boris Johnston’s to shadow, pretty much the entire planet is outperforming them both.

She is a clever politician who knows what she is doing and is taking us for fools.  I have no doubt how this played in the demographic she was aiming for.

As corroborated by many a poster, I’m certainly in the ‘not happy’ camp.

Voting for the Nats is a mugs game.

They just wave a flag and let a lazy / stupid / incompetent civil service do the rest.

JMcC never chappenged the civil service enough but the Nats have been shameful in accommodating all their pet projects and hobby horses while public administration collapses.

Old pals act — serve up shi** but don’t rock the constitutional boat.

We are struggling to meet the standards of a haggis republic at the moment.

    Things are that bad.

David Turnbull for me is the light at the end of the tunnel, thank goodness deidco never tried to sign him, they should have done, had he went there we would have imploded on the back of the John McGinn saga….

  6. Yes they are an effective team, under the cosh they defend their box, if we had achieved the results in Europe that they have had over a 2 year period now we would be ecstatic, this is for our consumption as I would never admit it to any of their supporters.

These results are from a system of playing, having a settled team, being well coached and organised and they look motivated in games to get something by fair means or foul, at the end of the game only the result counts I suppose.

A sobering read. Thank you for posting it. You are very well informed on Covid-19 and I have a question for you. I occasionally look at the site below to check just how badly my country of residence ( the U.S. ) and my particular state is faring. ( very poorly ).

One thing has struck me recently, and that is the current situation in India. From a position as second worst in the world, with approximately 50 percent of U.S. cases and fatalities, they are now, on a daily bases, experiencing less than 10 percent of the U.S. figures, in both categories.

So a country of 1.3 billion, many living in extreme poverty and congestion, has less than a third of cases, and less than a third of deaths daily than Great Britain. I asked a good friend of mine, an erudite Indian professor, mathematician and author, what India was doing to bring down their numbers so quickly. He told me that he had been puzzling over that himself, but ruled out data manipulation, which has occurred in China, and is occurring today in Florida.

Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Looks like Raphael Warnock, the black Baptist Minister has won one of the Senate seats for the Democrats in Georgia, though the other Senate election, where John Ossof is the Democratic candidate, is still ongoing. Now, given that both Senate election run-offs, (though it is highly unusual to have two at the same time in the same State), are State wide you would think that if you win you win both right? Here’s hoping, as that would give Vice-President Kamala Harris the casting vote in the Senate. Either way Nicola Sturgeon has already lost her former Business Adviser. Donald Trump.

No your again missing the point, the situation has deteriorated rapidly, in November cases were much lower, relatively under control.

When the facts change and the evidence changes so does my opinion. I’m gobsmacked as to how many posters don’t do likewise and keep the same entrenched opinion.

So many posters on here I know their opinions before they post regardless of the circumstances, if that applies to you I think its wise to seriously consider why that is. An example of that is the DUP, having entrenched positions no matter the circumstances and facts, its not a healthy position to be in imo.

Someone who holds their hands up and admits to being wrong immediately gains my respect. Make no doubt our club are in the wrong, I haven’t heard any remorse just whataboutery. I thought we were better than that. Just another nail in our boards coffin.

As a fan who disagrees with the fact that we have went to Dubai but the facts are that it was sanctioned by this pathetic government who care more about independence than the mess they have made of this pandemic, the NHS mess that they have created and school standards.

    ——————————————-

That’s all well and good but….., however late you changed your mind on it, your views and outrage remained unexpressed until after it happened.

If I was told something was due to happen that was going to offend me, I’d express my offence and try to convince the offence perpetrators to change their decision.

It does not look good to hear ” Well, I was always against this but now that it’s happened I am outraged”

I expect we’ll hear as much effort directed at demonising Andy Murray’s winter warm weather training camp in preparation for his next Tournament. I expect to hear a denouncing of every private citizen currently on Holiday or business in Dubai for travelling during a pandemic, even though, they too had permission. And I expect to hear the same denunciation of everyone that crossed a Local Authority Border in order to walk, jog, cycle or mountain climb in Scotland. Because COVID is strong here already and every unnecesary movement increases risk, not just air travel.

But I don’t really expect these expectations to be fulfilled.

Is there anyone out there who has not transgressed against the Covid lockdown regulations? Are you all capable of chucking that first stone?

Well, second or third stone, if you count Nicola Sturgeon and/or John Swinney as your predecessors.

  24. Gene:@03:28

you are correct, somewhere in that mishmash there was a post. Basically I agreed with Celtic players having a pint in Dubai prior to intensive 5 day workout.

Some of thes guys have been under pressure for 4 years to deliver 12 trophies out of 12 and delivered that a few weeks ago. Enjoy your pint.

Travel was approved by the Scottish government so they should have no complaints. I am sure the players were in their Covid-19 bubble unlike the hoards who were allowed to gather outside the Toilet in Edmonston Drive and give racist abuse to the Celtic players prior to the game.
