Sturgeon’s unsubstantiated innuendo against Celtic

370

Nicola Sturgeon, used her PR stage yesterday to posing a question implying Celtic were actively breaking Covid rules, which is clearly untrue.  The First Minister said:

“I have also seen some photographs, and I don’t know the full circumstances, that would raise a question in my mind about whether all the rules elite players have to follow in their bubble around social distancing are being complied with.”

This is a rhetorical device of those practised at manipulation.  Throw in an “I don’t know”, which technically negates what follows, but allows you to make any unsubstantiated allegations, even those you highly suspect to be untrue.

She has responsibility to set the rules and ensure they are monitored.  If she is unhappy with the rules she sets, she should own that responsibility.

This crisis is not a game.  Our First Minister used her position yesterday to throw unsubstantiated innuendo in the direction of Celtic.  Our political leaders need to be responsible when they make unsubstantiated comments THEY KNOW will stir up anger and resentment against a club who only hours earlier complained at not being protected from sectarian crime.  Cut the innuendo crap and find a better government that Boris Johnston’s to shadow, pretty much the entire planet is outperforming them both.

She is a clever politician who knows what she is doing and is taking us for fools.  I have no doubt how this played in the demographic she was aiming for.

  1. what’s happening in the capitol is not surprising at all – what is surprising is the lack of security and lack of anticipation that this was on the cards when for 2 weeks we hear words like coup, cheating, stolen elections, demonstrations planned etc…

Trump should be impeached for inciting the riots from his event prior to the electorate counts and validations.

If he is impeached, he cannot run again!

Game over 2:0 city, game was never really in doubt moreover city look like the old city!!

  3. Trump playing a card straight from the DUP deck.

Call people out onto the streets, use inciting rhetoric, get off side and watch it take off, followed by belated calls for peaceful protest.

  4. Selling Eddie is a no brainer if we get a good offer. Just don’t give the money to Lennon. Keep it for our next gaffer.

  5. Washington police acting like Glasgow police at an orange walk, their not quite sure if they should police it or join it.

  7. DC violence — Burton’s commandos out causing mayhem.

This was started by Newt Gringrich in 94 with his hatred of Clinton.

Trump is just the end point — he just has better comms and a bigger brass neck.

‘no mask and not distancing is a rule breach in terms of the rules which have been set out for elite sports.’

    ###

The ‘rules’ refer to ‘competition venues’ and ‘event environments’.

No mention of sitting on sun loungers around a pool after a training session. Bad optics, no doubt. But transmission risk? Vanishingly small.

    ——-

I think the JRG rules cover events outside of the football bubble such as ‘preparation’ and ‘home’. If not why did Jones and Edmudson get done? I don’t think you can say the risk of transmission by failing to social distance is vanishingly small.

Does Sturgeon rules apply to Dubai

Didn’t realise she had so much influence on the Middle East and its own social distancing laws

    Read what the rules say.

Jones and Edmundson attended a social gathering with the great unwashed.

The Celtic Party in Dubai are tested frequently. They won’t be mixing with anyone outside their party.

You can’t catch Covid from someone who doesn’t have it, no matter how close you are to them. Hence the risk is vanishingly small. Much more likely to catch it from Sturgeon when she takes her mask off in the pub.

  13. Seems Trump wasn’t involved in the decision to call in the national guard, he was side lined.

Vice President called them out Ernie , CNN saying still enough lapdogs on cabinet to prevent him from being removed from office , pity I’m back at work or I would have stayed up all night watching the mayhem playing out in front of our eyes

  15. Another great article Paul and pretty brave too. The High Sparrow’s grip on her flock is depressingly strong. We’ve done nothing wrong.

  16. Congress will continue to this evening to complete the certification of the Electoral College Vote, despite the attempts of Trump’s supporters to prevent that happening…

  20. Why was security not beefed up, everyone and their dog over there, knew there was major protests happening, Trump stood them down to create this,I think he will get removed from office

  23. French Eddie changing agent to someone rel owned for orchestrating big team transfers says he wants to leave sooner rather than later. Coupled with rumours of Ntcham working his ticket and one or two others making it clear they want to leave leaves us with a half hearted pool of players. Time for strong management and decisions. Sell all dissenters ASAP and bring in DECENT replacements either before or at the same time they leave. Pull out all the stops NOW and don’t leave it til summer or the last minute
