Sublime Celtic, Morgan, Lennon, Caldwell, Budge

Jim McIntyre must wonder if accepting the Dundee job was his wisest move.  Losing 0-5 to Celtic does not get anyone sacked, but the ease with which the champions unpicked his team was alarming.

It was a sublime performance by Celtic, but in truth, it was so easy, you could not name a player who needed to deliver a top performance.  Rogic (fabulous goal), Forrest, McGregor, Sinclair and Christie dictated issues between them.  By halftime, all that mattered was to complete the game without injury, a hope which was unfulfilled.

I liked what I saw of Daniel Arzani.  He is reminiscent of a stockier Patrick Roberts.  We will get goals from him.  While Lewis Morgan treated us to the rare spectacle of taking corner kicks with both feet.  The first Celtic player to do this since Lubo?  This is an indicator of a deep innate ability.

While Celtic were strolling around Dens in second gear, Saturday’s opponents Hearts, were required to put a shift in to earn a point against Hibs.  Neil Lennon was assaulted by a missile at Tynecastle, days after a Hearts fan brought widespread condemnation for striking a pensioner with a thrown bottle on Sunday.  Although the uproar was not widespread enough to encompass the usually verbose Ann Budge.  Maybe if such matters were faced full on by Hearts they would be less frequent.  Neil’s former team-mate, Gary Caldwell, should consider the man has endured the most violent and persistent racist and sectarian abuse than anyone in Scotland for decades.  The good humour Neil maintains is miraculous.

As we hoped in yesterday’s blog, both teams above Celtic dropped points, meaning we moved above Kilmarnock and within four points of Hearts, with a game in hand.  The title push is well underway.

Releasing annual accounts on the evening of a game, that old trick!  If it was me announcing a £14m loss I might do the same.  Maybe pick up on this later.

  1. I watched BBC News this evening, and after the weather forecast which is usually the last bit of the News, they showed a wall with some writing on it, I couldn’t believe what it said,

    Hang Neil Lennon.

Whose the Head Man, or Woman, in charge of BBC Scotland,he must be a bitter basturd to allow that to be shown.

I knew it was you, I was just wanting to ask if you had a link, I see you don’t, I will keep looking as I can’t find anything that confirms that, no that I am saying you are wrong, I just want to see what is what, as I said to Wits, I would have thot Auldheid would have mentioned it, he has something akin to a near photographic memory imo.

  3. Celtic played some lovely football yesterday evening. Having lustig overlapping on right highlighted the neeed to get someone in who can do it every week.

Poppy debate every year, it was first about respecting those who fell in world war 1 and 2, people who often had no choice but to fight and die. Now it covers all conflict british armed personnel are involved in. That covers illegal wars and professional soilder who enlisted by choice. The Poppy has been politicalised and does not represent its previous purpose.

The Guys that complain about reb songs at football matches are the some Guys who tell others they should respect a minute silences for the fallen i.e poppy, with no hint of irony.

Political expression is a right and the elite in society dont get to decide mine, your or anyone else nor do they have the right to silence people cause they dont like the expression.

I have no right to tell anyone what to think or say and nor does anyone else.

seriously …. who really believes that anyone in Scottish football wants PL to leave? Absurd.

Am I wrong, or was he not at the helm when

    1. the shame game took place, and Celtic and its fans were held to account for the misdeeds of others. Celtic fans took it on the chin.

    2. The OBFA came in, and Celtic fans were targetted (and, allegedly, personal information disclosed). Celtic fans took it on the chin.

    3. 10 titles and, what 30 or 40 million quid that went with it, were stolen from Celtic ..

    4. the 5WA … and , if his defenders on here are to be believed, he SSM was ‘helpless’ against the big bad masonic cabal. Celtic took it on the chin.

    5. LNS … see point 2 .. Celtic took it on the chin.

    6. a TV deal was negotiated which highlighted Sevco ….(hhmm… now, remind me… who was involved in negotiating that deal again?)

    7. They cheat for years, and our Board sends a letter to the culprits asking politely ‘will you please reconsider?’. And when they reply ‘no, but thanks for asking’… deadly silence.

why would they want him to leave?

  15. I don’t think the smsm want rid of Pedro, for someone who supposedly runs the game in scotland and is a CEO of the club they all seem to have a serious problem with, he gets very little bad press.

I doubt Sky give a hoot one way or another, the rest I concur with.

  16. Always liked Dundee Utd much better than Dundee. So it was good to see DU win 0-2 away from home on Saturday. Don’t like Dunfermline either. And then for us to hump Dundee.

The nearest I came to how SFA elected Presidents was saying I don’t recall there ever being election for the position in the past. I should have said contested election to be clearer.

I don’t know if there is a rule preventing a contest but the tradition has been to appoint from within.

McRae was a vice president and was appointed President uncontested as was Ogilvie. Before him Peat was Treasurer and took over from John McBeth in 2007.

I don’t remember anything about him although he apparently was ejected after comments about African and Caribbean football.

Funnily enough Gordon Smith was appointed at same time as Peat and 2007 was the year Walter Smith rejoined Rangers and spent millions in 2007/08 with the btc tax demands arriving in spring 2008.

The paranoid might say it was all part of a grand plan to halt Celtic dominance as Smith’s team won 3 in a row but at the cost of liquidation.

Two of his players Mendez and Stephen Davis were signed using ebts and there will have been others already ebt signings when Walter Smith arrived.

    Did I say paranoid?

    We werent paranoid enough.

    IMHO

The principle mistake made by our Club reps. ,Board , CEO or whoever , over the last number of years was the disastrous decision to appoint Ronny as coach AND not to recognise and correct that error far more quickly than they did.

Now that WAS an internal decision made by our Club.

Sadly , and it is sad ,Ronny ain`t doing so well in his homeland right now

At the end of the day it really matters not, the sfa and their ilk will do whatever they please, within reason obviously, and there is nothing we or anyone else will do or say, you-we know fine well that they have covered things up, everyone knows they exist for the benefit of the huns, apart from the huns right enough, so we are on our plums, and this is the reason that I am pissed off cos we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by calling them out, see thon dossier that Dr John mentioned, why not release it, set the cat among the pigeons.
