Sublime Celtic, Morgan, Lennon, Caldwell, Budge

337

Jim McIntyre must wonder if accepting the Dundee job was his wisest move.  Losing 0-5 to Celtic does not get anyone sacked, but the ease with which the champions unpicked his team was alarming.

It was a sublime performance by Celtic, but in truth, it was so easy, you could not name a player who needed to deliver a top performance.  Rogic (fabulous goal), Forrest, McGregor, Sinclair and Christie dictated issues between them.  By halftime, all that mattered was to complete the game without injury, a hope which was unfulfilled.

I liked what I saw of Daniel Arzani.  He is reminiscent of a stockier Patrick Roberts.  We will get goals from him.  While Lewis Morgan treated us to the rare spectacle of taking corner kicks with both feet.  The first Celtic player to do this since Lubo?  This is an indicator of a deep innate ability.

While Celtic were strolling around Dens in second gear, Saturday’s opponents Hearts, were required to put a shift in to earn a point against Hibs.  Neil Lennon was assaulted by a missile at Tynecastle, days after a Hearts fan brought widespread condemnation for striking a pensioner with a thrown bottle on Sunday.  Although the uproar was not widespread enough to encompass the usually verbose Ann Budge.  Maybe if such matters were faced full on by Hearts they would be less frequent.  Neil’s former team-mate, Gary Caldwell, should consider the man has endured the most violent and persistent racist and sectarian abuse than anyone in Scotland for decades.  The good humour Neil maintains is miraculous.

As we hoped in yesterday’s blog, both teams above Celtic dropped points, meaning we moved above Kilmarnock and within four points of Hearts, with a game in hand.  The title push is well underway.

Releasing annual accounts on the evening of a game, that old trick!  If it was me announcing a £14m loss I might do the same.  Maybe pick up on this later.

Roy Keane was on the ITV CL highlights one night after one of our many CL tankings under Brendan, and there have been many, and RK said that, he was interviewed for the Celtic managers job after Neil Francis Lennon walked out, and that, apparently, RK was 10th tenth in the queue, RK said that he didn’t have a clue as to how far back in the queue that RD must’ve been ?

Thing is……the hated (on here) Charlie Nicholas was correct when he said that, “Celtic isn’t a football club anymore, its just a rich man’s plaything.”

    Charlie was correct.

Celtic supporters got rid of the old bored, and bought shares in the Fergus McCann ‘project’ in 1994, after Fergus had promised the supporter’s that, when he would leave 5 five years later, his shares would be in the hands of the supporters, who would then rightfully, own and control their own club.

Why has Fergus never been held to account for breaking that promise ?

  3. Is it not the case that PL’s bonus is only payable when we reach the group stage CL. If that is true then makes the Euro downsizing by PL a convenient sound bite to beat the board with but probably untrue. Maybe a King/ MSM squirrel to get the thick tim’s fighting each other when actually things have never been so good! Maybe!! Divide and conquer!!

  4. Good on Martin Reilly and Peter Martin for calling the attacks on NFL anti Irish, anti Catholic, that’s simply what it is, nothing else. Let’s not kid ourselves these bigots are full of hate. Another thing I don’t buy into is that it’s the minority. Thousands at Ibrox and Tynecastle isn’t exactly a minority, I wish people would spare us the crap that it’s only a few, it’s not. It’s in these people’s DNA, they are superior and you better believe it. I don’t live in Glasgow but was there as usual at the weekend and was wearing my Celtic rain jacket whilst shopping with the missus. The amount of dirty looks and looks of disdain was as per usual from passers by, even from shop workers, there is a deep hatred of all things green, which makes me more determined and privileged to wear these colours. 5. Dundee were terrible last night.

They played with the fear from the off.

When the third goal went in it was Everyman for himself.

Any fight they had was being saved for the home dressing room at full time.

NMcC has a lot to answer for.

They have some talent but they seemed scared to use it.

The amount of players running about aimlessly with their back to the ball was shocking.

Not an easy transition to the new managers style or tactics.

  6. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

The annual Green Brigade foodbank colection takes place this Saturday before our game.

There are three collection points at the bus park off Janefield Street , at east end of Janefield Street and at the bottom of the Celtic Way.

Things like UHT milk and fruit juice , tinned fruit & veg, breakfast cereal, teabags, coffee , toiletries, sanitary products , nappies , toothpaste and tooth brushes are some of the preferred options for contributions.

Cash donations can also be made.

The generosity of our support at the Celtic Foundation and Green Brigade food bank collections has been exceptional and will continue.

    QF,

I expect the bonus is more likely linked to the turnover and now profit and liquid capital, which would explain the best players regularly being sold against the managers wishes. Qualification will improve turnover but a minimum turnover will start the open the bonus payment scheme.

Can anyone advise if dividends payments are counted as running costs, if not where are they counted or are they counted?

D17 – see my point 3 – PL representing shareholders, why is he not meeting the 2 groups mentioned, who also represent the interests of Celtic shareholders ??

I could probably have a go at answering that but out of respect for the guys i wont. Maybe if one of them stumble across your post they might respond.

  12. We played some good football but we also lacked urgency at times.

ScS did not do as much as I had hoped for after his good play at the weekend.

He is thinking too much at the moment — nothing he does is smooth at the moment.

However he is worth the effort to get him back to his best.

Some of our shooting was a bit weak last night.

JF must be a vegetarian — when he had a choice he did not seem to want to hurt the leather on his boots. When it was instinct however he smashed into the back of the net.

    Strange in the extreme.

So the board of directors take out wheans of money every year for telling the CEO to do his job, as I said a great earner if you can get it, money for nothing, as an aside, see all these great achievers in the world of business, why are we at the mercy of the scum that run the game in scotland, I would have thought that all these great achievers would at least have us on a level playing field.

Nobody as yet has told me what these great directors actually do for their money.

  18. Peter Lawwell interviewed Guus Hiddink for the vacancy at Parkheid left by the hunting of john barnes, should never have gotten the job in the first place and if it had been up tae the Bunnet neither he or his boss would have.

I was in a sports bar in Havana when CNN Spanish indicated that he was leaving Real Betis for us. I was over the moon at a former Real Madrid manger coming tae us.

The following Sunday I was at Mass over here and related tae a massive Tim I knew what I had heard. Nae chance he said, DD has over ruled Peter and is going with MON. As I walked down the road home my head was down, awe naw I thought we’ll become Leicester O’Celtic, as I reached the house I had started tae think, uch as long as we start winning trophies it’ll be ok, a wee bit fickle but these were desperate times.

Guus later admitted to being disappointed on not getting the job but stated PL was a gentleman in the negotiations and in explaining the decision to go with MON.

The big mhan fae Macroom runs the club, no PL, BR or even Broonie.

  19. Just checked Phil’s rugger pals analysis of the celtic accounts. Clearly states PL bonus only payable when we reach CL group stages. So not make the group stage this year prevented PL from getting his bonus. That does not square with most bushy tailed squirrel on here designed to divide and distract!!
