Subplot: red card Scott Brown

245

We have two hugely important away games coming up, which will hopefully go a long way to determining the title, but I get the sense there is a subplot beyond that.  Too many stories involving the words: Scott Brown, red card and dangerous tackle, have crept into the lexicon this week, all on the back of a ball-winning, non-dangerous tackle.

If I was a cynic I’d suggest the scene was being set for Scott Brown to be the focus of outrage and demands for his dismissal at every challenge during a cup tie coming your way soon.

Once we have the important games out of the way we’ll talk more about red cards, and the likelihood of Celtic picking one up at Hampden.

After 5-0 and 6-0 defeats to Celtic in their previous two games, Dundee took a clean sheet from Celtic Park last month, and had chances to take more than a point from the game.  They have only won one game since, Saturday’s 5-2 demolition of Ross County, who they are nip-and-tuck with for the final top six place before the split.

Before that draw at Celtic Park, Dundee were on a seven game unbeaten run.  Their form is nowhere near as good now, so I don’t expect them to be as adventurous as they were last month.  They will sit-in and play us on the counterattack.  The aforementioned Scott Brown and however partners him in central-mid have important defensive duties ahead.

After scoring 16 in his 15 appearances since the turn of the year, Leigh Griffiths hasn’t scored in two games – the first time he’s failed to score in consecutive domestic games since last season.  Do not bet against him tonight.

Scotland’s biggest selling indigenous newspaper led with a powerful front page today:

“Confidential documents leaked from a secretive Charlotte Fakes expose how the grasping mega-rich elite hide untold wealth to avoid paying their fair share of tax, a plea to the poor and working class across the globe….

Wake up world and smell the corruption”

Well, almost. I added the “Charlotte Fakes” bit, which originally read “Panama bank”.

Concerns about how the leaked documents came into the possession of over 100 journalists didn’t get in the way of thousands of media outlets reporting the contents.

Ever wondered how the Cameron family could afford the very best education money can buy for their son, David? Now you know. Or have you considered that Leonel Messi and Michel Platini might one day be bunkbed mates?

You are free to ponder these questions without some poor sod having to pester the life out of police, prosecutors, football authorities and the Scottish media (at not insignificant personal risk), because most of the western world reacts differently to news of corruption than we do here in Scotland.

Congratulations to the Celtic Development Squad, who won the league after 25 undefeated games this season.  Take a look at their league table:

First off, I have nothing to do with Res 12, nothing.

The tactics now being used are well out of order, tactics imo are that of a scumbag.

You are obviously defending the tactics, you attempted to make things personal the other day by accusing a poster of intimidation, hunnish, ironic eh,

He, like you have done nothing re the cheating, all you have done is come on to the blog and agitate, cos if either of you had, you would be shouting it from the rooftops.

Res 12 was and is a few supporters trying to take on a corrupt body, like it or lump it, mistakes will be made along they way.

You can with all due respect, stick your protocol.

Even better, maybe you and your side kick can get off your arses and keyboards and do something instead of bitching and acting like spoilt weans.

Perhaps a double post but worthy of repetition.

Let’s leave aside the bruised egos and attempts to derail Resolution 12 for now.

Get the case presented to UEFA and when we have the outcome there could be a time and place for argybargy. Does everyone want to see Resolution 12 succeed? Yes or no? HH

Once again you call it right.

There is still a rump of football supporters who think of their team’s players as “one of them who got lucky”.

In reality, we are as close to these players as we are to George Clooney or any of the big screen icons.

Professional footballers, on the whole, merely pay lip service to the “wonderful” fans. They are now in a different orbit to the players of even twenty years ago.

The engagement with supporter clubs of current players is a thing of the past.

In fairness though, much of this is for the players’ own good, as the hospitality was often overwhelming and I think the clubs have a case for protecting their staff.

The game has changed. It is not sport and this becomes more obvious by the day.

We are being cheated, yet there is a clamour for tickets to endorse the cheating.

I can’t get my head round the logic of that. I suppose it is because it is illogical.

I can only be thankful that I have had a long association of supporting Celtic and have witnessed times which will never be repeated.

In the last twenty years though, the highlight has been a losing Europe League Final.

    Good, but it’s not Carlsberg.

We got away with one. Why can’t some people accept it? Just look at the image in the article.

    – Two feet

    – Off the ground (for a moment at least)

I don’t believe that Broony tried to hurt the lad and it’s not the worst tackle I’ve seen. But it was a red in the modern game.

There could be an agenda behind the coverage of Brown’s tackle as Paul suggests. It could be the fact that the huns can’t help but report the negatives behind a decent Celtic result and performance. There is no way they would fail to mention it.

Some of the vitriol, abuse and name-calling handed out by you and your ‘pals’ is disgusting and has no place on a Celtic supporters site.

You and your ‘back-slapping’ sycohphantic clique seem to think that this blog is YOUR property and those who disagree with you and/or do not ‘boast’ your ‘long service’ credentials are somehow unworthy interlopers.

It is most definitely NOT your property – if it was,all we would be reading is a never-ending cacophony of ‘pish’ about Peter Lawwell and the board, day in and day out

You are of course correct about the clique on here who come to the aid of the ‘names’ on this site as they appear to know of them and expect others to know of their credentials and defer to them. I was never into that.

I don’t know a single person on the site and treat them all the same.

I recall being in a long winded debate on here when I compared Auldheid to a Dominie. “What do you realise who you are speaking about” was the tone of response from one of the senior posters. Well I did and the same applies today.

I don’t remember hearing that Auldheid had been canonised by the Pontiff and quite frankly I find him to be a bit patronising, but worse than that, a complete apologist for the board. Someone who will find justification in anything the does in spite of overwhelming contrary evidence. To Auldheid they can do no wrong.

But I don’t accuse him of all the things that his friends accuse me of. Disloyalty, anti-Celtic, back-stabbing, etc etc. No I think he is a good Celtic man who sees the board in a different light to me. And he also sees those who question the way RES 12 has been dealt with in a different light than I do.

The other thing that amuses me about Auldheid and BRTH in particular in all this is how their supporters state as a fact that they have been working tirelessly day and night for years in the cause of RES 12. Frankly I don’t see much evidence of this. If they had been working as navvies as hard as everyone tells me they have, they would have dug a trench half way to Australia by now. As it is what have we to show for all their work? 3 adjournments and as for results, well, we can’t speak about it!

As for nom de plumes I don’t want to know who or what anyone is (I am Tom Minogue from Dunfermline as everyone knows due to discussion on here about my Public Petition 01496 and my Objection No 48 to the OBFMA), but if we go down the road of prying into the identities and activities of posters on CQN that would be a deterrent to free speech.

The requistioners are a different matter as they have set themselves up in public place and must expect scrutiny as their private/business interests might be seen as making them less than objective to the informed observer.

Auldheid, there doesn’t need to be a conspiracy when those acting in their belief of the best interst get together to secure a certain result. It looks to me like you and BRTH have certainly got a belief that with RES 12 the board knows best and that is fair enough, but it’s not a conspiracy.

Or did you just throw in the conspiracy comment as a snide dig at me? Perhaps I read too much into it.

My sentiments exactly …. The Res12 bhoys have far more support than detractors, it’s just sometimes the detractors post louder, if you know what I mean…

A lot of bad decisions may well be down to ineptitude, but a hell of a lot of them are down to pure and simple cheating.

Just how many games have there been throughout the years that we simply were not going to be allowed to win if they could make enough of a difference?

They even stopped us from fielding Cadette in an effort to make a difference before a ball was even kicked.

Its not even just our own games, the stats have been posted here before regarding the anomalies in the bookings they avoid and the penalties they get.

Replays are there to be used to help clear up any contentious incidents……put the replay up on the screen, let the referees and every fan in the stadium see it again and again until the proper call is made as they do in Rugby, Tennis, American Football, etc.,

The thing is……just how corrupt is the game worldwide if the ruling bodies prefer to leave it the way it is?

What chance is there of getting a level playing field in Scotland when there is no intention of making it a clean sport worldwide?

They know that they can do what they want here……i guess the ineptitude helps muddy the waters……its probably useful to have men like that involved eh?

Continue to remind them they were liquidated, died and the entity playing in blue at Ibrox is not and cannot be the same club, it would help if anyone in an offical capacity at our club is ever asked what they consider them to be, that it would be along those lines.
