Subplot: red card Scott Brown

245

We have two hugely important away games coming up, which will hopefully go a long way to determining the title, but I get the sense there is a subplot beyond that.  Too many stories involving the words: Scott Brown, red card and dangerous tackle, have crept into the lexicon this week, all on the back of a ball-winning, non-dangerous tackle.

If I was a cynic I’d suggest the scene was being set for Scott Brown to be the focus of outrage and demands for his dismissal at every challenge during a cup tie coming your way soon.

Once we have the important games out of the way we’ll talk more about red cards, and the likelihood of Celtic picking one up at Hampden.

After 5-0 and 6-0 defeats to Celtic in their previous two games, Dundee took a clean sheet from Celtic Park last month, and had chances to take more than a point from the game.  They have only won one game since, Saturday’s 5-2 demolition of Ross County, who they are nip-and-tuck with for the final top six place before the split.

Before that draw at Celtic Park, Dundee were on a seven game unbeaten run.  Their form is nowhere near as good now, so I don’t expect them to be as adventurous as they were last month.  They will sit-in and play us on the counterattack.  The aforementioned Scott Brown and however partners him in central-mid have important defensive duties ahead.

After scoring 16 in his 15 appearances since the turn of the year, Leigh Griffiths hasn’t scored in two games – the first time he’s failed to score in consecutive domestic games since last season.  Do not bet against him tonight.

Scotland’s biggest selling indigenous newspaper led with a powerful front page today:

“Confidential documents leaked from a secretive Charlotte Fakes expose how the grasping mega-rich elite hide untold wealth to avoid paying their fair share of tax, a plea to the poor and working class across the globe….

Wake up world and smell the corruption”

Well, almost. I added the “Charlotte Fakes” bit, which originally read “Panama bank”.

Concerns about how the leaked documents came into the possession of over 100 journalists didn’t get in the way of thousands of media outlets reporting the contents.

Ever wondered how the Cameron family could afford the very best education money can buy for their son, David? Now you know. Or have you considered that Leonel Messi and Michel Platini might one day be bunkbed mates?

You are free to ponder these questions without some poor sod having to pester the life out of police, prosecutors, football authorities and the Scottish media (at not insignificant personal risk), because most of the western world reacts differently to news of corruption than we do here in Scotland.

Congratulations to the Celtic Development Squad, who won the league after 25 undefeated games this season.  Take a look at their league table:

When I backed RES 12 (by proxy supply of two shareholders, my son and his cousin) I did so out of a sense of frustration that the Celtic FC board were allowing the SFA and Rangers to get away with financial doping and failure to properly register information.

The one person who reflected my views on this and who was the requisitioner went under the name of Canamalar on CQN. When he was not available (working in the M.E.) to take the necessary paperwork to support RES 12 to Celtic Park his role was taken up by a substitute, Morrisey 23rd, again someone who posted on CQN and again a poster who reflected my views that the board of Celtic FC were letting Rangers/SFA get away with murder, so to speak.

The next thing I knew RES 12 had been withdrawn from the agenda at the AGM and was said to be in limbo. This fact was communicated in a statement by the chairman Ian Bankier.

The rumours at the time suggested that Morrisey the requisitioner Canalamar had met with Celtic FC officials before the AGM and agreed a compromise whereby Celtic FC and the requisitioners would be from that point going forward as one with the concerns that had generated RES 12.

It soon became apparent that it was not Canalamar or Morrisey that had much to say about what, if anything, was happening and after a few months I asked from feedback as I had heard there had been selective briefing.

This brought me into conflict with Canalamar and Morrisey. Now in Canalamar’s case he acted as if I had betrayed a trust that I was sworn to secrecy with and of course that is nonsense. I simply wanted to know what was going on. Morrisey supported Canamalar’s secret agenda to the extent he wanted to visit me personally to “improve communication”.

We now know that anything of any import has been dealt with by BRTH or Auldheid from day one, including the drafting of the resolution read out by the chairman to the AGM. So I am not questioning the requisitioners I supported, but am questioning those who have taken over RES 12 and now run the show.

And it looks like it has been worthwhile as I know more about where we are at today’s date, and that is………….. nowhere….. but there are promises of jam tomorrow IF WE ALL STOP ASKING QUESTIONS.

The very purpose of RES 12 was for the fans to do what the board had failed to do.

If the board had rejected it and voted it down it would have, in my opinion been a worthwhile exercise in that it would have showed that the fans have a diffent set of principles to the board.

I support the ‘living wage’ or ‘fan on the board’ resolutions (by delivering two proxies) every year.

The glorious failure appeals to none of us and with the board’s rejection of RES 12 the fans would have sought other ways of dealing with this matter.

Now RES 12 has joint ownership with the board and I can see them obfuscating and delaying until they eventually (like with OBFMA) say “well we tried” .

Will I be proved wrong? I hope so but pleas allow me to have my say. I was told in Feb 2014 just to keep schtum as victory was just around the corner. Pretty much the same as I am being told now.

It seems that some of the early advocates of Res12 were more anxious to pin the CFC Board (and I am not criticising them for seeking to hold the Board to account) than getting an UEFA investigation which now seems possible.

Or am I misunderstanding the situation? The latter is always a distinct possibility.

In fighting suits only Level 5 and the SFA.

Please let us concentrate our efforts in having the SF A cheating brought to the attention of EUFA. HH

  22. I thought Scott Brown could have got a redcard. Two footed, studs up, I would have wanted a Hearts player off if the situation was reversed.

The Hearts player deserved to go.

Hopefully we can keep the same defence to get a bit of understanding.

Res12 was about getting the board to take the complaint to the CFCB it was not about the fans taking the complaint to the CFCB.

Res12 was never withdrawn from the agenda it was adjourned which kept it a live issue until it was dealt with in the manner required.

Those funders got the bill direct to pay. No intermediaries and it had a breakdown that satisfied them.”

Ok, Auldheid. I’m assuming you are keeping accounts on an ongoing basis. As I said before, I’ve no interest in knowing who the donors are, but I would be happy to pay for a copy of those accounts, with the names redacted if need be, to be made available to some independent shareholder/signatory trusted by both sides in this dispute.

“With regard to my apparent closeness to PL I’ve seen him once since 2013 when he was dining with friends at an EK restaurant. I was there to meet the VideoCelts chap re publicity on Res12 and LNS. I said hello to PL and had my meeting. I’ve had no personal contact with PL since 2013. VideoCelts is not a fan of PL btw.”

Point taken, Auldheid as regards face-to-face meetings. Doesn’t alter the fact that you’re in lockstep with PL, and the Board’s strategy on Res12.

I have no desire at all to get involved in the debate, I only come on here to share the buzz with fellow Supporters particularly on match days.

What has happened re the adjournment of Res 12 has happened, we are where we are. Surely the best thing now is to stay patient & see the thing out. WE can have a post mortem when it’s finally over.

The public infighting on the blog is not in anybody’s interest.

Hopefully the football chat will start shortly, we have a huge game coming up in a few hours, let’s concentrate on that.

  29. I have been papped the LMS competitions by Mancester United losing at home to Norwich, Motherwell winning at Paradise and Watford beating the FA Cup holders.

So from that you can see that there is no such thing as a sure thing and that I am rubbish at predictions.

So with a pinch of salt here goes…

Res 12 is further along than even the Res 12 guys know.

Res 12 will succeed in all its objectives.

Res 12 will have far reaching consequences for the game in Scotland.

Some in the game will have some pretty horrible medicine to take.

Remember I am rubbish at predictions. Just as well….

Corkcelt you are right I was behind RES 12 and still might be if I knew what was happening with it.

I would have been happy to let the matter take it’s course but was subject to some pretty foul abuse on here by the original requistioner Canamalar. (I can post a summary if you wish?)

I have got a terrible fault in that when I am attacked I defend myself so will continue to do so.

Winning Captains I hear you but am not privvy to the inside information that makes you so bullish about the outcome of RES 12 but I hope you are right because the Celtic ethos is more important than petty personal point scoring. Have you got a tip for the Grand Naitional?
