21-year-old Greg Taylor was understudy to Boli Bolingoli (then 23) when both left backs joined the club in the summer of 2019. That period ended in January 2020 when Greg was made a regular starter, a position which has not changed since. Five league winners’ medals, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups later, he leaves for POAK, to fill up his retirement pot in the sun.
Greg would have stayed, irrespective of the money, were it not for the arrival of Kieran Tierney, who – when fit – will inevitably be the starter at left back. His attitude through contract negotiations has been excellent.
We are losing a solid performer and a winner, but it is right for the player and for the club that he moves on. Celtic should not have 27-year-old understudies. Backup to Keiran should be a player who can develop into someone who can take his place in the team, just as KT dislodged Emilio Izaguirre a decade ago. Promote from the ranks or sign a great left back prospect.

Surely your protests are not selective ?
The current Celtic transfer model appears to be: invest in modestly priced young players then sell the most promising for big money. It is not always successful but when it is Celtic make substantial gains and those responsible deserve the plaudits.
That said, the strategy has a downside. In recent years, the Celtic team starting any given new season has seldom been as strong as the side which finished the previous season. The exception to this was the squad assembled in Ange’s second season.
Dilution of quality could pose a danger to Celtic. If our competitors were managed more professionally we might no longer be able to afford dropped points or unexpected defeats.

Back to Basics – Glass Half Full @ 4:45 pm,
Yes; you can slice and dice these things in so many ways.
My point would be, Martin O’Neil came in at the start of the century and Scottish football changed.
In the twenty five years since Celtic have been the dominant club domestically.
So that was life before Peter Lawwell and after Peter Lawwell, no one individual can take the credit, although Fergus lays claim to being the antecedent and our principal shareholder the constant.
Peter Lawwell as far as I’m aware had never been a CEO but his credentials in finacial control and retrenchment were very high.
Maybe once his key skill-set had done it’s work, stepping back or getting a DofF or COO on board could have been good.
Was that his inexperienced or was the principal shareholder and Board more than happy with a tiny C-Suite.
It’s still the case today after all.
The fact is, if tha dark arts are at large inside Celtic PLC where would the proof lie?
So we must believe that the Celtic Dream works because of the teamwork, the naysayers are just 21st Century (and a quarter) mineshafters.

The kurds are a people spread over 3 or so modern day countries turkey, syria and iraq, the drawing of borders by previous colonial powers does nothelp.

Don’t forget how flat Celtic were for many games last season. We couldn’t dominate rangers despite our financial superiority. They are signing or linked with experienced championship and premiership players – we are poking around the lower leagues trying to find the 1m nugget …..at the expense of the team. Champions league team with europa mentality. This teams needs 2-3 experienced professionals to drive us on and help tierney, McGregor and Maeda. Some athleticism and a number 10 (if Nygren is played wide ). Kyogo and rogic have not been replaced!
I think the weaker – stronger theory is a bit of an enigma, you can’t possibly accurately predict whether your’e weaker or stronger before a season starts. This is especially because you’re usually using the transfer price as a metric.

not true, they bested us only once, and i for one enjoyed 95% of our play.

Sorry for butting in but I’m a strong advocate for Palestinian rights. I’m also a long term human rights campaigner and have recently sent appeals to Honduras, Pakistan, Niger, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Libya, Tunisia, Russia, El Salvador, Kyrgyzstan and Iran amongst others. A quick look at my human rights folder and I’ve written letters on 37 different occasions about Sudan over the years.
One of my initial motivations for getting interested in human rights was seeing Claude Lanzmann’s holocaust documentary “Shoah” when I was a child and being shocked at the barbarity, cruelty and inhumanity of what happened and thinking that had I been present I would hopefully have stood up to protect the Jewish people.
May I ask what you have done to voice your concerns about Sudan, Turkey, Russia and Iran? If you post links to appeals about these situations I’ll happily participate.

have a read steboy,
In 2025 they beat us 3-0 and 2-3 and a 1-1 draw. Our midfield never dominated and they broke through too easily. Our midfield needs some defensive athleticism and I’d also like a player who is keen to break through their lines with pace from midfield. They have players who do that and have added similar with experience. I get Celtic model but I’d like us to attract experienced players, first team picks to improve us.
Kyogo and rogic have not been replaced!
tom was replaced by o’riley
kyogo, by adam/maeda.
Scotland has always been an Orange, Masonic, backwater.
Its just that some Tims lost the run of themselves when they naively thought that they had a friendly ear in the Snp Government.
Snp have always hated Catholics, Catholic Schools, Celtic FC, Celtic Supporters, Irish People, Women, Children, Gypsies, Homeless, Travellers, the Sick, The Disabled, The Old People, the Poor People, etc.
The Snp were able to read that Timdom is not Timdom anymore, without the Jungle Constituents.
So the Snp calculated that, the all seated era Tims were there to be took.
And the Tims did not disappoint!
Snp were in the door a short while and then out of nowhere, new CBC abuse cases started to appear,(after Fergus had dealt with all of this stuff), as a test of Celtic FC’s Robustness, or otherwise.
A Celtic FC/PLC full of Uppity Tims would have said to the Snp:
“Show us the irrefutable video evidence of what you claim, or we’ll set the dogs on you. AND then, we’ll make it a condition of Celtic FC season book subscribers to expect their ticket subscriptions to be blocked without refund when we check the voting registrar and cross reference that information with that of our customer base. If Celtic finds that you vote for this party of creeps, then Parkhead will no longer be your home.”
The Snp would have disappeared like snaw aff a dyke! Ahem.
Labour, Tories, Libs, Greens, didn’t have a “Jail Tims for being Tims” policy in their manifestos, the Snp did. And Unionist Vermin called James Kelly of the Labour Party got the Snp “Internment of Celtic fans” rouse, overturned!
Glasgow has more Orange Walks than Belfast. If Ireland became United, the angry NI Huns would head for Bonny Scotland and would soon be in the Scottish Government. lol
The Irish Diaspora in Glasgow would have to choose between staying in unlivable Scotland, or go to Ireland and fight the new black and tans with the over 1 million fringe group of Irish NON sellouts vs the 4 million woke dummies who want even more black and tans or whatever they are called these days.
Remember when Kojo was banned for warning CQN about the black and tans( I can’t remember the word that he used) looks like Kojo was correct all along.
What a time to be alive.
They are signing or linked with experienced championship and premiership players – we are poking around the lower leagues trying to find the 1m nugget
last season we bought players from england, germany, france , portugal and belgium. oh and scotland
this season so far, premiership, x 2.
you think too much .
Arsenal Aberdeen Fulham and Nordsjaelland drop to lower leagues This season
SAINT STIVS
I don’t believe that any one of our three expensive signings last year was a dud. But their performances on the park just didn’t seem to justify the unusual fees they commanded.
Of the three Idah has been most disappointing as he played a vital role in the previous season’s league and Cup victories.
Anyway, what do I know? I have to admit that after seeing Matt O’Riley’s first few games I thought he’d struggle to get a game here.
Is Osmand going to improve us in champs league ? Naw! And possibly not in league either. Is Doohan ? Naw! Number 3 goalkeeper. Is Nygren? possibly given Swedish international. Is Tierney? Yes if he stays fit. Need more yes’s.
SS- I would dispute Kyogo has been replaced, we kinda fell into the Maeda plays through the middle for Japan stuff,I would say that the majority of the jury is still out on Idah, stats are pretty decent, and a couple against the huns is always welcome, I think we will sign a striker and Idah ,Osmand will be decent options off the bench.Nygren could be the making of Idah, going by Isak’s comments,we all hope he comes good.

You are very consistant and for that you have my admiration.
I merely observe. . My observation is that many will go to great lengths to protest the Palestinian obscenity but ignore other horrific events.
Why is that ?
I do not claim to know that much about the age old history of the Middle East. But I do remember my Catholic education where Israel or such like was repeatedly referenced in the old testiment.
Surely after all this time a two state solution is the way forward, or is that too simplistic
Thanks.

So Brendan brought in £10 million Idah, but he hasn’t worked out, so we’ll bench Idah and let Brendan buy a real striker this time.
How much will that cost? £15 Mill? £20 Mill?
How about, we’re looking at this the wrong way?
How many wingers and attacking fullbacks do we need to supply One striker?
How many goals would the Magnificent Bobby Lennox have scored had he always received the ball with his back to the goals, and no balls for him to run onto?
How about Brendan, like Ange, both refuse to learn as that would then mean that they had got something wrong?
How about, every member of staff must be managed, including Brendan and Ange, but at pretentious Celtic FC/PLC, that is not happening.
How about, if Neil Lennon had lost the SCF to Aberdeen with hardly a shot at goals, or cross into the box, whilst using 4 Wingers, and 2 Attacking fullbacks in 130+ minutes of open play, the pretentious fans would still be in the car park demanding Neil Lennon’s sacking, but because its Brendan, well the fans will put their other faces on.
How about “The Best Fans In The World” era, who won the Hampden Riot SCF 1980, and sacked the old board in 1994, was 4 generations ago, and the all seated era couldn’t kick their own erses!
And the sly PLC and Snp know that to be the case!
Seating fans has created a conformist obedient sheep filled society.
And now the sheep have transformed into sitting ducks!
Greenpinata, thank you for your reply.
It should be that simple but the continual building of illegal settlements make it anything but. Correspondence from Herzl in the 1890’s showed this to be the Zionist true intentions and here we are now as successive UK Governments (and others) pay lip service to a two state solution, while allowing Israel to expand it territories. I would suggest that you ask your MP to support a two state solution. Anyway you’ll have to excuse me as I’m up at an ungodly hour and need to hit the hay. All the best

pre season is a b@st@rd
No real news, mostly uncertainty
more rumours than the club de mar (ayr night club) on a monday morning
all of them bollox, and based in nonsense, except that one……..
Huns seem to be losing their grip on the preseason/new owners cup
did I read that they now have 500+ million shares floating around???
“has 532,223,088 issued ordinary shares. These shares have a nominal value of 1 pence each. The club’s holding company, Rangers International Football Club Limited, recently issued 100 million new shares as part of a £20 million investment by a new ownership”
And then davy boy realeases a book, just in time to stoke the hate
I think it was stivs (maybe) who mentioned that as the ownership falls into the backend of the united states (#murica), we no longer have any idea of who now owns them – due to their non disclosure/regulatory feckery
and up pops murray
Thats a great conspiracy theory (100% banging)
Anyone who can be bothered ….
.. dig out some comments from around the time they signed Lundstrum?
Fear.
Yawn.
