Suker, Uefa and regionalisation

935

Croatian hero of the 1990s, Davor Suker, currently Croatian Football Federation president, is campaigning for a place on the Uefa Executive Committee, one of 12 people chasing 7 places.

Sukor has been campaigning across south-eastern Europe, with a simple message: collapse the cream from the national leagues of 13 countries into one powerful 42-team regional league structure.  He has support across the region, including Turkey and the former Yugoslav countries.

Smaller countries across Europe have realised that they must regionalise or accept a future of irrelevance.  The Gazprom-funded deal between the Ukrainian and Russian regional league floundered at the onset or war but regionalisation is not going away.  We need innovative campaigners like Suker to rise to positions of authority, replace the ranks of the incompetent and talentless.

Well done to newco for rewarding those who used their media outlets to campaign relentlessly on their behalf in recent years with a seat in the directors’ box on Tuesday.  I’m sure David Leggat deserved the accolade of being the only mainstream media journo so honoured, which is quite something.  New season lamb is in stock early this year.

Turkeybhoy, sorry for the late reply – just back in from walking the dogs.

My current work rotation has me away in Algeria for all of September, but I don’t think that I’ll be there until then, as the ba*****s have just cut our rates by 15%. Time to move on!

Was in Whiskey Joe’s last Sunday, to watch the game, after our internet went down.

They sacked a Director before for being a sectarian bigot.

There canny be many clubs who have lost TWO directors for being bigots.

    Wurld record………….AGAIN!!!!!! Whit a club.

Be fair here! I can remember THEM sacking a director because he was not a bigot. On paper at least. IE his marriage certificate.

And that’s a great image you’ve planted in my head Geordie Munro!

When the MSM report that x or y of The Rangers is jetting in, I always picture them jumping out the plane and walking and talking to the gathered journalists before the plane has even stopped.

Re the guy from Saltford done for behaving in a racially aggravated manner.

Gave me a blast from the past.Used to listen a lot to Radio Luxemburg .Adverts on Radio Luxemburg included a guy called Horace Bachelor who sold ” scientific “plans, tips and methods for winning the Pools.Address was in Saltford and then the business moved.to Keynsham. The Bonzo Dog Doodah Band were listening too – they named one of their LPs – Keynsham .
