Summer business underway as Fojut signed

559

Celtic tied-up their first piece of business for the summer 2012 transfer window this afternoon by securing Polish central defender, Jaroslaw Fojut, 24, on a pre-contract.  Jaroslaw moved to England straight from school to join Bolton Wanderers, who he made two appearances for, before spending short loan periods at Luton and Stockport.

He moved back to Poland as a 21-year-old and has become a popular player at Polish league leaders, Slask Wroclaw, who knocked Dundee United out of the Europa League qualifying rounds this season in their first European football adventure in 40 years.

I hear he is a solid defender who commands the air well and who is likely to have his best years ahead of him.

Top of the morning to you all from a bright and breezy Fife.

When the last Chairman of Rangers, Alistair Johnstone sent out his Masonic distress signal in his message via the Glasgow Evening Times the writing was on the wall.

The court may well rule against Rangers. The HMRC may well want their pound of flesh but with this club as with other freemasonic institutions/individuals in this country a way will be found to get them off the hook.

I have seen the rule-book thrown out of the window too many times in my lifetime to come to any other conclusion.

  2. While I spent all my Celtic supporting life in the Hayshed, until Celtic Park was rebuilt, I, now happily sitting in its replacement, would not want supporters standing in front of me. (That happened at the Cup Final, and it didn’t add to the occasion for me.) I’m of an age, height and health where I can’t stand for the 90 minutes. Why not make the area where the Green Brigade congregate as the designated part? As far as I can see, they are already standing anyway for much of the game.

Actually, the only times I have been knocked off my feet have been in the Hayshed, when we have scored a dramatic last minute winner and the whole place erupted.

Good to hear their day of reckoning is at hand. Now, we have to be prepared for the Scottish media trying to have them cheat their way back in to the SPL. Anyone got any ideas on how we may try and ensure that cheating is exposed and countered?

  3. Aaargh, missing sentence.

‘Think about that for a moment.’

”This question must be asked, did rearangers gain an unfair advantage due to tax evasion ???????????

The first time I heard of R@ngers financial difficulties was about a decade ago, it was from a friend when we were playing 5-a-side.

He had a franchise to sell American physiotherapy equipment – R@ngers needed a machine as it was the only way to keep Lorenzo Amoruso fit to play, they couldn’t afford it so they sold him to a team that had one – Blackburn Rovers.

Now they lost Amoruso due to lack of cash! But how many players did they manage to secure/retain due to EBTs that like the Italian they would have otherwise lost? Financial doping in one way or another has been rife at Ibrox for a generation.

If/When these EBTs are shown to be illegal R@ngers MUST face their just deserts, if not the Moral Hazard will destroy the rickety edifice of Scottish Football.

Scottish Football is on the edge of the abyss – letting a NewCo R@ngers straight into the SPL with the expected inconsequential admonishment will see Scottish Football take a great leap forward.

You can rewrite the record books, recently in Athletics one of the American Sprint relay teams from the 90s had a Gold medal taken from them (due to one of their number admitting to taking drugs) and the medals where re-awarded to those who had finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the race.

Michael Johnson was not a happy bunny.

So it can be done and should always be done if the cheating is discovered!

    All Please note

Neuchatel Xamax have just been stripped of their licence and kicked out of their league completely by the Swiss FA due to financial irregularity!

  9. I take it we all still assume that somebody will come along to form NewCo should Rangers go bust. I have to say, I’m really not so sure. I’m not convinced it’s possible to maintain the quality of squad that you’d need to in order to guarantee ticket and merchandise revenue without continually pumping money into the club.

  10. Dirtymac,

Good post and appears to show an organisation not in control of it cost base as revenue dwindles. My question is, how can 2 similar turnover clubs like Celtic and Rangers be in such apparently different states on an operational profit/loss basis(ignoring past debts and current liabilities)?

Celtic have a bigger squad but younger so are we paying less overall for wages?

are our income streams way higher due to foreign based fans, holding on to our merchanising rights etc?

Do we have similar operational losses but can the gearing is better due to squad assets/cash in bank/cash flow?

can’t help thinking that our share issues to chase the dream were a masterstroke and the hun route of loading Murray’s company and being creative with tax was fraught with danger.

time for the fiscally boasting rangers fans to put their hands in their pockets?

    PS

I don’t want rangers the club to go away, I want us to keep beating them, I just want rid of the bigot percentage of their fans(subjective number) and a generation to be educated properly

    hail hail

  11. on the standing area.

does anyone have any insight to the feasability study for Celtic ?

what area(s) are being looked at.

Personally I think the corner between the South stand and the Jock Stein could be it.

The two clubs are not similar in size of turnover, well, kind of not similar.

Celtic’s turnover is inherently 20% greater than the orcs’.

    …………..

    How?

One team (well one member of that team) admitted cheating to give them an advantage. The governing body upon discovering cheating took place, stripped them of their title and medals and awarded them to those teams that lost out.
