Having pummelled Newco repeatedly this season there is a notion that we’re going to do it again on Sunday. I’d be tempted to hold that result. St Mirren, an inferior team, demonstrated for 57 minutes how far blanket defending and a bit of organisation can take you. If Celtic record an impressive result at the weekend, they will have to be at the peak of their powers.
We can expect Newco will have watched replays of the opening 20 minutes of our Hogmanay tie dozens of times recently. They will do their best to capture what worked for them during that period, and attempt to replicate it on Sunday.
We started slowly that day, which is not entirely out of character, but one or two also looked spooked by the occasion. Newco started on the front foot, again, something they repeatedly do, but just as they have done throughout the season, they soon ran out of steam.
There is not a great deal they will be able to do about Moussa Dembele, short of cutting off supply to him. As a consequence, they will stick tight to Scott Sinclair, who will have work to do to even get involved in the game, never mind hurt the opposition. This is no bad thing, as while Scott is our most productive player, the team will be full of players hungry and capable of hurting the Newco defence.
This is a game which could be in the balance with 15 minutes remaining, but which Celtic could score three times in the closing period. They have the superior fitness and mental fortitude.
Our greatest danger will be from officialdom. Conceding a penalty, a red card, or both, opens the only door possible for Newco to take anything from the game. Keep cool heads as we’ll do just fine.

Hmmm…hhmmmmmm…and hhhmmmmm again. For honest mistakes, those were pretty egregious. Maybe the solution is don’t let them into your box.

TTR,
Thanks m8ty.
Just hoping the cafe/restaurant/pub or whatever is up the mountain over there, has wifi for Sunday.

Hopefully not boring too many people but just in case there are any late defections from ghuys planning to attending Sevco game on Sunday, and spares come available, I’m still looking for 2 tickets for a couple of mates.
The two Bhoys who happen to be brothers are genuine Tims, they were promised tickets and booked flights & Hotel on the assumption they had tickets. However the tickets have not materialised so the are now traveling on a wing and a prayer.

great analysis paul67. I’d take a 1-0 and if it was 1-1, it wouldn’t be the end of the world against the turd team in the league.
Team for Sunday:
Gordon
Lustig Boyata Svietchenko Tierney
Bitton
Forrest/Roberts Brown Armstrong Sinclair
Dembele.
Not so long back, it was difficult to say what our likely eleven would be. Not so difficult now.
What about this for a second eleven:
Bailly
Gamboa Toure Simunovic Izaguirre
Forrest/Roberts Rogic Henderson McGregor GMS
Griffiths.
and a third eleven:
De Vries
Janko Ambrose O`Connell
Ajer
Allan Christie Kouassi Commons
Aitchison Ciftci
1st, second and third in the SPFL !

I have met Corkcelt and he is truly one of the most decent , companionable of people you could hope to meet. If anyone can help in furnishing him with the requested tickets, you can be sure they will be going to the most deserving of homes.
Wishing T success in hie search, I will say cheerio for now,
JJ

Well said.
The legitimization of the OF continues from Celtic quarters.
The majority of Tims are not interested.
The want to whine bitch and moan about the big bad huns and oh how naughty and terrible those repugnant bigots are.
And weer gonny be cheated again…awe naw whit ta dae?
Awe god help us again and why is my underwear doon at my ankles pray tell (thumb stuck in gob)?
They shouldn’t even exist and Celtic’s response to all this….ZILCH.
p.s. geez yer money.
Mugs!
Help!
I have four pals from Germany attending the game on Sunday. They have tickets for the Kerrydale Suite.
I seem to remember that for certain high profile games the bar is only opended after the game, is that correct?
They tell me that their tickets don’t mention any bar restrictions.
I don’t want them thinking they can have a couple of beers before the game if that is not the case.
Someone, please confirm.
2-0 for us on Sunday. HH.
What happened to the Boaby Madden season ticket money?
Evening good people, great to see the tributes to our departed friends and heroes.
Today is also the feast of St John Ogilivie, a great Scottish martyr put to death at the Trongate in Glasgow. I am named after him however he was only “blessed” back then , not yet a Saint.
To Sunday, I care very little about a game against a very average side. SKY can, and will, tub thump all they want. It’s not a big game, the cup is all that matters to both teams now. The Orcs appealed the Kiernan card to have him available for the Accies cup game, they see that day next month as the big one.
We also have the league won, a treble would be lovely to round the season off. However in the great scheme of things we have bigger fish to fry in July.
Enjoy your Friday night lads, you’ve earned it. HH

I’ve marked your xard laddie :-)
As In 3 matches this season the stats suggest that the final score is really about how clinical we are in front of goal. That to me is the mouth watering prospect and the reason so many huns will be hiding behind their sofas.
In 270 minutes we have had :
67 (!) shots
27 on target
8 goals (9 actually if you include big Erik’s effort).
1 shot every 4 minutes.
Playing for a draw brings us more shots. Playing on the front foot offers us the speed of the counter attack.
They’re goosed every which way. A 1-0 win will suggest we have been incredibly profligate again but a better rate of return on our chances will see a cricket score.
Big Wavy
Sevco set for 16th manager in four and a half years.

Lennybhoy,
Took the dog out for a walk after I posted.
Sorry we never met. I did see a group of mature gentlemen squeezing out of a car near the chapel but I’m sure that wouldn’t be any CQN men. Probably lazy Base workers. Hahaha.
I’m sure the ghirls and Gordon and his wife will take comfort from the whole service.
Hail. Hail.

A typically cautionary tale.
Celtic will be more confident at Celtic Park from the first time we played Sevco, but our form has gotten better and better, on top of a 5 -1 in. We have a difficult game there is no doubt, mainly due to our superiority and obvious expectancy, to the extent if it were old assisted Rangers I’d be concerned.
I don’t see the Celtic players being allowed to be complacent so that leaves officialdom and it would have to be bad for that to affect the overall result. I agree with , Auldheid if it does change the result, I’ll partly blame the Celtic board , who’ve been too quiet ( on everything ) since the much maligned John Reid.
Boaby Madden has refereed Celtic ‘differently ‘every time I’ve been at a game.
Hail Hail

Myself and An Tearmann arrived by Train, I look like a mature gentleman, grey hair, so you would be hard to spot me…:). An Tearmann, well he is easier to spot 6′ 6″..:)
The girls, Gordon and his wife I am sure will take comfort from the Service and the support from family and friends.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Norwich sack Alex Neil.
Oh!! good evening.
The pitch will be more of a challenge than Sevco on Sunday.
My only fear for Sunday is our pitch if I’m being honest, will suit those cloggers better
Come on now, nae excuses….that mob are howling.

I’m kinda thinking that way myself.
I don’t think it will be the walk in the (muddy) park that many expect.
Their need is greater than ours and, I believe, we need an early goal to deflate them, then take it from there.
Lennybhoy,
You will have noticed that Alexandria station is on a roundabout.
Only in the Vale.
Hail.Hail.
I think the pitch stuff has been OTT and was surprised when BR joined in.

Someone needs to cement McKay early doors, between him and the grass all their attacking comes down the left, ML can look a tad slow these days, Gamboa?
Big BBC ‘old firm’ build up on BBC tea time news, leading with the ‘new supremo’ in the stand.

Spot on,the better players are able to adapt,we have the better players.
Stop bitching about the state of the park. It was very kind of Motherwell to donate their old surface. A wee drop fertilizer and it could be Hampden:-))
