Sure things don’t exist in football

724

St Mirren lost at Tynecastle in November, their fifth consecutive in the league, but since then they have lost only twice: at Celtic Park and last Saturday, when the roof fell in against Ross County.  During that run they recorded good wins against Dundee United and Motherwell.  They sit second bottom of the league but this is an incredibly tight league.  Saints are as close to bottom Dundee as they are to second top Inverness.  In straightforward terms, St Mirren are a form team.

Anyone who believes Celtic are a sure thing better think again.

Remember the days when it would be impossible to get past 8pm and still not know Montrose earlier took a point at Ibrox? Sign of the times it wasn’t really news, I suppose.

Regards Glentoran, in the fantastic year of 1967 John Colrain an Ex Celt was player manager of Glentoran and he led Glentoran to a famous 1-1 Draw against Benfica at the oval in a european cup match and in the return leg the Glens drew 0-0 with Benfica and went out on the away goals rule he also led them in America as the Detroit Cougars

    Hi P67

I’m pretty sure Celtic are a sure thing as sure as I’m assured. Can’t see us messing this next step to the quadruple.

For a new club to be so far ahead in a league of well established clubs … Most with decades of history and tradition. Fair play to the new club and although they have greater resources at their disposal .. Its football and teams from same division will always take points throughout any season . ;)

Get right at St.Mirren early doors and secure an early goal. If we had achieved that at Hampden last season against Kilmarnock and Hertz we wouldn’t just be going for a treble this year. We would be Defending one !

Lenny learned a lesson last season in the cups as he learned the season before in the league.

We will not be playing on an even field when it comes to crunch games.

    Still im confident on 3-0.hh

  10. 43mins gone – Juve have played narrow.

First time they get width – should have scored.

Remarkable though that they delayed getting the footage of the game out on Sky tonight…..It was the last senior goal to be shown….

Normally they are much more efficient….I wonder why ?

Also the reminder on Sky that they are ‘runaway leaders’…..

Still no public discussions on the incredible sending off stats for opponents… Nor the even more astounding post Stirling defeat sending off stats since the Sally / Media outcry that poor Ian Black was being kicked off the park….A rallying cry followed by 7 red cards in 11 league games I believe….

Greens Daily Moonbeams make Murray look like a realist !

The most amazing thing is that they are treating Green as their Fergus rather than an even bigger impressario….

I keep needing to pinch myself…

  16. Juve v Genoa – HT 0-0.

Pogba – only thing he’s brought to the game – a new haircut (has got rid of the badger’s arsenal).

Juve press hard outside the box – looking for little flicks/ lay-offs (seldom go wide).

Genoa reasonably organised – clear their lines (bypassing midfield) but can’t get the ball up to their striker (Olivera) who is totally isolated. One chance they had – was from their only corner (badly defended by Juve).

I knew JOhn Colrain had been with one of the Belfast sides but other than it not being Linfield did not know anything else about his time there. That’s some result against the Eagles- thanks for the info.

Was Charlie Tully a manager of an Irish League around then? (Portadown rings a slightly implausible bell).

McKendrick was chosen tonight to defend Hugh Dallas’s son Andrew against the accusations put to him by Kenny Shiels.

McKendrick had previously described the departure of Hugh Dallas as “very dark day for referees in Scotland”. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/9230531.stm

John McKendrick was the subject of an unfavourable potentially libellous comment tonight on his trustworthiness on Sportsound Extra

  19. MEMO to J Mc Kendrick

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we will not move on and draw a line under it.

Get Dallas to give his side.
