SUTTON SLAMS CELTIC

A FURIOUS Chris Sutton launched a remarkable assault on Celtic after their latest flop in Europe.

The former Hoops striker slammed the standard of the current players following their third consecutive defeat in the Europa League with Ajax adding to Ronny Deila’s woes after the losses against Molde.

Sutton named 18 players signed in the past two seasons under the Norwegian who have clearly been inadequate in European competition.

At the same time, the SPFL champions have sold the likes of Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk to Southampton.

Sutton didn’t pull any punches as he attacked his old team for failing to win any of their past 10 outings in the Europa League.

He fumed: “We’re talking about trying to get into the Champions League and we’re on a learning curve in the Europa League!

“I’ll tell you what we’re learning. We’re learning that we’re not good enough for Europe, that’s what we’re learning.

“The recruitment hasn’t been good enough. It has been HOPELESS.

“I’m not just blaming Ronny. The club has to have a look at themselves.

“It’s not rocket science, it is going to get worse.

“If you keep selling of your best players, and you are not improving, you are just going to get worse and worse.

“Enough fans stand there and clap the players off the pitch. Do they really deserve it? I don’t think so.”
