SVIATCHENKO EURO BOOST

CULTURED central defender Erik Sviatchenko is hoping to give Celtic a boost as they prepare for the Champions League play-off against Be’er Hapoel Sheva.
The Danish international centre-back was forced to miss both legs against Kazakhstan champions Astana in the previous round with a groin strain.
However, Sviatchenko returned to training at Lennoxtown yesterday and could feature against the Israeli title-winners.
Brendan Rodgers utilised the versatility of Mikael Lustig against Astana and played him alongside Eoghan O’Connell, who will celebrate his 21st birthday with a possible appearance against Inter Milan in Limerick this evening.
The return of Sviatchenko would be welcome as the Hoops get ready for the £20million showdown on Wednesday at Parkhead and in Israel the following Tuesday.
Norwegian Stefan Johansen is also with the squad in Ireland for the International Champions Cup-tie against the club’s old European foes.
Fulham and Galatasaray have been linked with the midfielder who is out of contract in a year’s time.
