Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark all possible for Celtic

947

Delighted for Aberdeen, winning away from home in Croatia is no mean feat for a Scottish club, but a 0-3 result, anywhere, is a special result.  None of the other 32 away teams could manage so much as a two goal win.

The Inverness defeat on their maiden European performance was pity, if not a surprise.  Winning your home game is regarded as the Cardinal Rule in Europe, but they have a puncher’s chance next week in Romania.  Score the opening goal and it’s anyone’s game.

Today’s draw for the Champions League 3rd round qualifier has the potential to get a bit tasty.  There are plenty of potential opponents from northern Europe with trips to Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark all possible, while Celtic are the only seed from northern Europe.  Hopefully Uefa, in their keenness for geographical neighbourliness, don’t feel the need to send us to Israel, Poland or Serbia.  If we take care of Stjarnan, of course.

  3. Thompsontwin,

I didn’t even bother reading all of your warmongering drivel you quite literally ignored the whole point of my post, it’s was not about which British empire based conflict we should be following up on.

It was about why the torys decided to use bombing after being told by parliament they do not have permission to carry out such strikes.

    Now get this

Really it’s quite easy for most

Parliament told the torys they were not allowed to bomb Syria

The torys ignored that and done what the Americans told them to do.

How many American generals can you remember being elected by the British electorate into parliament ?

Answer the question and this time try sticking to the point

Don’t know anything about the Macedonians, but the Azerbaijani team Qarabag drew with Inter Milan at home 0-0 in the Europa Cup last year, lost 2-0 away, lost to eventual finalists Dnipro 1-2 at home, but won 1-0 away. This was a great result against a team which destroyed Everton and were narrowly beaten in the Europa Cup final.

Regardless of who Celtic play (assuming we get past Stjarnan), it will be blisteringly hot.

Nobody stopping you talking football, I was and am still enjoying reading football posts and all the trivia including Aussie BBQ talk.

However when I cruise through the TV channels and I find something relevant to Britain not being reported in Britain I tend to test if I’ve just missed it being reported or if it is actually being deliberately censored by the BBC to keep the Brits ignorant and in the dark about what is being done in our name.

  17. Hate to be the glass half empty guy here …….am I the only one who is a little concerned about most people just presuming we are through to the next round in europe. After reading their goal keepers comments about their pitch being a dry hard surface , games against Ross County , ICT and the like spring to mind ………….the amount of times Ive seen Celtic not perform on similar pitches makes me a tad nervous……..if only we had put that penalty away !!

It was reported on the Today programme (BBC Radio Four) this morning.

Not sure why you think it’s being censored.

  19. roddybhoy,

No fear here, we’ll take three off them easy, get yer mortgage on that :)

More worried about potential injuries on a surface deliberately being prepared to make it hard for football players to play.

I may be mistaken but I believe both RC and ICT had grass pitches in recent years, but get your point. However, I think if you look back at Celtic’s record on artificial pitches, I believe you might see that it is pretty decent. Karagandy is the only big occasion where I have seen Celtic struggle on an artificial pitch.

The Today programme is regarded (rightly or wrongly) as the most authoritative news programme across the whole of the BBC.

I don’t watch Breakfast TV so I’ve no idea if this story has been on the telly.

Good post mate, the silent assassins are at work on our own doorsteps, forcing people to work for what is not enough to feed their families, whilst cutting any assistance that is needed for them to work in the first place.

We all know there is an element that don’t want to work but why punish the people that do?

  27. ernie…,
