I don’t know anything about Stefan Johansen, who is one of several central midfield players Celtic are tracking, but I’m pleased we’re scouting for this area. There’s no question we are missing a penalty box predator but you could make a case that the sense of calm and control exerted by Victor Wanyama in the middle of the park is a more telling absence.
Nir Biton has all the potential to get there eventually but it’s going to take him time. He reminds me of Ki, who a couple of seasons ago was fifth choice central mid for Celtic, behind Brown, Wanyama, Ledley and Kayal. This season I’ve watched him collect and distribute, close space and bring shape to a struggling Sunderland team.
I’ve also watched a bit of Barry Robson since his return to Aberdeen. Despite his advancing years he remains one of the most intelligent footballers in the game. His arrival in the Celtic midfield six years ago changed Celtic into a winning team. You don’t need Pele for this role, just a tactically aware athlete.
How many accountants does it take to tell you that losing circa £1m per month is not a good idea? Lots, apparently.

Jude, if you’re still on, so sorry to hear about the dog, we lost our best pal last January, and we still feel it now. Time does heal though, I just can’t believe how they get to you!
All the best

true that the manager will get criticism no matter what.
its not about stopping criticism, its about getting the first team players to be on their toes and to get the academy/ young players to be at their heals at all times in an ultra competitive environment

Just back from pub and the overwhelming vote was a terrific performance from the bhoys and they should get plenty of opportunities to play as an unbeaten record is of no importance. These bhoys given the chance will prove they are as good or better than the youngsters at D United or any team
watched the game today proud celtic fan with our young yins playing there hearts out for the hoops saved the club millions from buying any of the so called superstars from dundee utd.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I hope this doesn’t bring a lump in your throat, but your dog is the only friend you will ever have who likes you more than likes him/herself. I’ve lost so many through the years, but I can remember every single special thing about each and every one of them, and I include our cats. Pets are special.

As we don’t want protraction I will not go into detail on a list of changes.
To keep it simple, I will say I trust Neil, who has all the hallmarks of someone dissatisfied by less than average performances, to make those changes as he has done from the minute he stepped into post. The run of turgid 1:0s was eventually broken; he did so by dropping some and sticking by others. He did not adopt any dogmatic rule such as “play the youngsters, regardless of how they do.”
Balde, Pukki and, even Boerigter were never as poor as they were painted on here. Does not mean they will definitely make it with us but they have a better chance than they are being given.
As always, we will get rid of those that want to go, have failed, or for whom we have received an unrefusable offer and we will recruit new ones we hope will hit the ground running, either from our reserves or from other clubs.
Oh, and we might buy a Campbell Ogilvie voodoo doll.
I’m off to watch some more TV sport.

I was down at Edinburgh Cat and dog home yesterday looking for a dog, mine died 2 years ago after 17 years. She was a complete zoomer…. hope when I get another its not the same :-(

agree about giving young bhoys a chance, a good 10 games a season for our top 4 or so prospects would soon show who’ll make and who’ll no, our top prospects would have between 30 and 50 games by the age of 20, 21 years old, similar to those prospects we are buying for 2 million at the same age or there abouts.
p.s would still focus on bringing in quality young players such as VVD, Efa, biton etc… for first team. think we do have that part right, just need to find a opening for our academy bhoys
HH
Tear your coupon up 2-0 the Reims now

A very composed performance from a young group of players who know each others game.
That’s who we should play in diddy cups, not 3 or 4 but the whole team. They would relish playing in front of,what for them would be a huge crowd, and that performance tonight suggests they would hold their own in the lower sevco infested leagues.
Prestonpans bhoys, I think they’re all zoomers really! Good luck looking for your next best pal
reims go 1-0 versus lille against the stats prediction. Good job I laid the bet, however pretty annoyed at Lille who’ve won their last 4 at home. pesky frenchies!

2-0 reims. 50 profit notes instead of the now 210. A win is a win but poor from the form team!
All i’ve managed to see is Balde Chip, any legal links to any other highlights?

My sentiments exactly..Said the exact same thing a few hours ago!
might upset a few fellow tims but after watching zaluska over the last couple of games would we miss foster as he is itchin to get away?
off to watch some t.v HH and good night bhoys and ghirls

I reckon they would hold their own in the sphell.
The same team all but a couple did no too bad against Lpool at the start of the season, and their 2nd half performance against a last 16 in the CL was superb.

I agree with a lot of that.
Regarding the turgid 1-0 run of results, it is worth emphasising the ‘nil’ factor in that run. I don’t think the defence is getting the credit it deserves with eight successive clean sheets.
As for the lack of a prolific striker, like most people I would like Celtic to have one, but the fact we are the top scorers in Scotland, have scored in every league game during 2013 and have goalscorers throughout the team, means the problem is not as bad as some of our fans make it out to be.
A Celtic goal is a Celtic goal regardless of the position the scorer plays in.
We have all watched Celtic teams with prolific strikers win nothing because our defence or midfield were not equipped to deal with the attacking threat from our opponents.
THE EXILED TIM-Free the Dam
I spent hours on that coupon this morning- had teams from greece and all sorts (btw should look at there for value) andLille were one of my * picks laid it though so not too bad profit is profit. Had Celtic btts to score in the semi for a few banger the other night though and a 7 fold yesterday. Still peed off at missing the game today.
Panthrakikos were 7-5 to win today and were an absolute cert. Also a great league for btts and win market with the obvious higher value;-)

I tend to do singles in the main, can’t resist a treble or two though.
Burnley were my banker yesterday, had I not wasted a few bob on Cardiff, it would have been a very good day.
Had Lille as a banker tonight, had them also with Colo Colo who are 1 up and Real, all in all had better weekends, but didn’t lose out thanks to Burnley, so that is a bonus.

Enjoyed watching the game today and thought we gave a good account of ourselves, over the two games.
Personally, I find these games a lot more interesting than playing Kilmarnock / Ross County etc.
With some free mid weeks on the horizon, it would be good to get involved in a few more friendlies like this, and test out young players, formations and tactics before the CL qualifiers.
One other thought, as a club, I think we are light on coaching staff.
If we are going to go down the route of buying works in progress, then it seems an inherent contradiction if we don’t supplement this with more coaches.
The manager himself has admitted that because of the hectic schedule he hasn’t been able to spend much time with the Pukki’s , Balde’s etc.
So if I have a transfer window request, as well as a 30 goal striker, can we get at least one more addition to the coaching staff.
Doesn’t need to be a big name, just someone who can work with the works in progress.
