Taking the foot off the pedal talk

1410

The count of how many times I’ve heard “I hope we don’t take the foot off the pedal like we did last year” has reached double figures. This is never a good sign. Football games, against any level of opponent, need to planned for and respected.

During last season’s League Cup semi-final, Celtic went two goals up early on, then made 100% sure the result would never be in danger by denying Newco even an attempt at goal (the match stats recorded one attempt, which was actually a wayward cross from a free kick). Compare and contrast with Borussia Dortmund’s two goal advantages last night. While I’d love to score a barrel-load, winning the game is all that really matters.

We have seen enough Celtic teams dominate possession in Europe against less-resourced teams only to lose to the sucker punch. This has been a harsh lesson, which I hope has been learned.

I doubt many of us know what to expect from Newco. They won the Championship but this season didn’t have to contend with vastly superior Hearts team. They are also in the semi-final because they thumped Premiership Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox, which is a huge result for any lower league team (we’ve failed to score twice against Dundee recently).

All my “Rangers” supporting pals tell me they are hopeless at defending, so there’s a decent possibility they will defend deeply and play on the break – just as several others have done effectively against us this season. We’re going to have a lot of possession in the final third, but Scott Brown and Nir Bitton will need to offer a lot of defensive cover.

Most of all, we’ll need discipline. There’s a red card winging its way to the first Celtic player to stare at an opponent in a rash manner. The First Minister will probably get involved too, so be prepared.

Did you read Walter “dare I say it, 10 in a row” Smith? What a man to have in your corner days before a big game. He’ll have them thinking it’s 1957 all over again!

    Ruggygman,

Your joking surely, GMS has been one of the most consistent before his injury, Armstrong has hardly played because of his loss of form, poor at tracking back and does anything but bring balance, methinks your just blinded by favouritism.

Yes. A definite red. I thought the ref`s decision was as a result of his misunderstanding the TMO`s analysis.

Overall,I didn`t think the ref was up to standard. Ours are just biased.

I forgot about McGregor….he’s a good shout. The bhoy is direct. Good energy. And importantly has a goal in him.

Regarding Armstrong. His form dipped when the team as a whole struggled. As a result his confidence diminished. However I rate him. And some times a wee break from things can wet the appetite. What better confidence booster than Ronny putting faith in him to start. I’m of the opinion, he would not let us down.

  6. Looking forward to Sunday & the game, it’s a Cup Semi Final regardless of whom we play, I’m always up for a Cup Semi Final.

    My team,

Gordon, Lustig, Eric if fit otherwise Boyata, Mulgrew. Tierney, Brown, Bitton, Joe Hanson, Roberts, Commons, Griffiths.

If we keep eleven on the field and do not concede a penalty , I am absolutely confident we will win.

  7. get in contact with Raymond I think no action is coming up from Durham cant wait to see him knocking them bandy ha ha ha

    I don’t do jokes.

I’ve given what I believe to be a fair appraisal of our wide left options. Fundamentally there are pro’s and con’s of each player. And the final decision is a marginal one.

I just wouldn’t consider Forrest, Commons, or CKR as starters.

McGregor, GMS, Armstrong, or Rogic….id be happy if any that 4 start in the left position

On Sunday we will play The rangers international football club for the second time. This week we have been force fed revisionist shite about their formation and the non-existent old firm tag will be used.

When you post the facts people use phrases like ‘obsessed’ ‘all about the rangers’ and so on as they try and deflect from the painful truth.

In Scots LAW “A football club, once incorporated, is indistinguishable in Scots law from its corporate identity.” Its not opinion, its law. Rangers were formed in 1872, incorporated in 1899 and entered liquidation in 2012. None of this is debatable.

I have saw some refer to FIFA statement saying they are the same club (ask them to show you an official statement on it), a story ran by the Daily Record via Level 5, RIFC PR company. In fact this statement was a blog in FIFA online magazine, and rather than a statement was a submitted piece by someone who doesn’t even work for FIFA. If you google rangers fifa.com you will see the record article I mentioned, but also rangers page on FIFA.com

    http://m.fifa.com/error.html

You will notice its been removed. Here is Celtics updated to yesterdays result

    http://m.fifa.com/…/club=scotland-celtic…/index.html

UEFA as well, while still having a Rangers web page, the last update was on 2012, the year they went under

    http://www.uefa.com/…/teams/club=50121/profile/index.html

Whereas Celtics page is updated to yesterdays result.

    http://www.uefa.com/…/teams/club=50050/profile/index.html

Before the Pacific Shelf shite starts,

If a football club is liquidated it’s finished. Continuity with its history and records ends. This is not the same as a football company changing its name.

Celtic was established as a sporting club at a meeting in a church hall in November 1887, in many ways, no different than a million other football, karate and badminton clubs. It subsequently registered with the SFA in 1888. In April 1897 it incorporated as a private limited company, registering as The Celtic Football and Athletic Company Ltd at Companies House. It was the 3487th company to register in Scotland and was given the incorporation number SC003487.

In 1994 the company became a public limited company and changed its name to Celtic PLC but, of course, remained the same company, with the same incorporation number and retained the same registration with the SFA. You can check our corporate history, from incorporation in 1897, to name change in 1994 to our most recent annual return, dated 31 December 2011, at Companies House here.

the same day Celtic changed its name to Celtic PLC, Fergus McCann changed the name of an off the shelf company, securing the old trading name ‘The Celtic Football and Athletic Company Ltd’, which is fully owned by Celtic PLC, but is not registered as a football club. I assume this was to secure our old name for the club and to protect it from potential abuse.

. As you can see from the pictures below, we are still the same as our incorporation date, Rangers however are in liquidation.

If it was the same club why did Charles Green have to but the history of the old club. Why did this new club have to get a temporary licence to play in their first match. Why did this club have to apply with Buckie Thistle for the spare Scottish footballing licence. Why also could this new club not play in Europe if they had qualified, because to get a UEFA licence to play football in Europe, the club applying must have been a member of their association for a minimum of 3 years.

We know, they know and they know we know.

This is a new club, Rangers Football Club died, the pain they felt before the lies and revision started was real. The joy we felt is still the same.

    Its fucking magic.

Hail Hail, the Celts are (still) here.

  10. Jungle Jim Hot Smoked on

    Ruggyman

For all we know, Ronny sees this as quite an easy game against a second tier side therefore ideal for Armstrong to gain some confidence. I certainly rate the player but I don`t think I would take a chance on him just yet. I would hope to see the `real` Stuart Armstrong next season.

    Anyway, that`s me for tonight.

    Goodnight all,

    JJ

  11. Corkcelt

I’d love to see that team on Sunday in a 4-4-1-1. We won’t though. I agree with Bsr’s earlier post, I think Ronny will go with CKR.

I agree he is likely to play CKR, in a way I’d like to see him bully the Huns but he is hot headed they will play on that and he could easily get red carded.

Well in wi your letter to our state broadcaster.purveyor of the myth.covers the metaphysical entity for all its continious criminal activity.

As an earlier posters said new light is being shed.

It also flies al face of all it OU business teachings.

As state broadcaster they wait to be told and are meekly biased towards a team they are banned from reporting !!

Case of a biased state broadcaster backing up a biased state football associations biased attitude towards their favoured team. Britherhood at its lying, squinted, incorrect worst :-)

    Hope your good :-):-)
