Tanks at the marble staircase

187

Tank engines growl.
Their long journey is over.
The doors fly open, marble glistens in the evening sun.
But where are the guards? No one is here.
A child on a donkey could conquer this castle.

My understanding is that the programme is only to be shown in Scotland the majority of non football followers in my opinion wont be interested. The football supporters amongst our population will know most of what will be shown and will split into there respective camps to have a huge effect it needs a wider UK audience. 11. I stated on here a while ago I was told we were wanting him.

Sky Sports sources understand that Celtic have made an approach to sign West Bromwich Albion forward Simon Cox.

The 25-year-old joined the Baggies from Swindon Town in 2009, but he has struggled to command a regular starting spot during his time at The Hawthorns.

He started only seven games in the Premier League this season and stated last month that he would speak to the club about his future at the end of the campaign.

Capable of playing up front or on the wing, Cox is now understood to have attracted the interest of Celtic as the SPL champions look to bolster their squad.

Cox had been linked with a move to Birmingham City in the January transfer window after expressing concern that a lack of regular football would cost him a Euro 2012 spot.

However, he has been included in the Republic of Ireland squad for the tournament and is now aiming to impress national coach Giovanni Trapattoni.

  12. What’s the difference between newclub being given a place in the SPL and Celtic being given a place in the EPL ( I know we pay our taxes ) If the fans complain about a corporate ethos now I dread to think what it would be like if we ever got to play in England

It’s easy for you two to mock.

I know how these things work:

first, a flicker of ecstatsy (my first first)

second: the pang of want followed by relief (of a podium place)

third: the longing relieved only through a first

fourth: the realisation that even a first will not satisfy my needs

fifth: many futile attempts to give up posting on CQN encouraged by sincere do-gooders

sixth: recovery which can only be achieved through total CQN absenteeism

    Goodbye cruel world!

I will just have to watch the programme and keep my opinions to myself.Like the old saying says those who live the longest will see the most but only if they keep there eyes open.H.H.

Reading between the lines, it seems like the SPL investigation has found significant evidence of wrongdoing regarding registration of players through the EBT years, but has been “delayed” or not published for some reason. The BBC have stumbled upon the results of the investigation and are set to reveal all to the world.

I think readers of this site and RTC will not be surprised by the content, but as others have noted, this is a BBC documentary and as such cannot be ignored or branded bampottery. The SFA and the SPL will have to act on the information presented.

  26. Neil Lennon knows Celtic must hit the ground running in pre-season as they prepare for a crunch Champions League qualifier.

The Scottish Premier League winners signed off their campaign with a trip to Norwich on Tuesday night for Adam Drury’s testimonial, where a mixed side went down 2-0.

When the Celtic squad return from their summer break, there will be little time to ease the group back into action, with the small matter of a potentially tough European tie looming at the start of August.

“It is a very difficult scenario you face when your first competitive game is going to be a Champions League qualifier,” said Lennon.

“You could get a team who may be five or 10 games into their season, who are up to match speed.

“It is always a tightrope which you are walking, so we have worked with the players over the last few weeks of the season, with plans for them to do over the summer.

“Obviously we want them to have a break as well, they have earned that, but we want them to come back in at a pretty decent level of fitness for the start of pre-season again.”

Celtic have several players out of contract this summer, with Lennon looking to trim his squad as well as bring in targets such as Norwegian midfielder Markus Henriksen from Rosenborg.

Meanwhile, talks have opened with goalkeeper Fraser Forster and 29-goal striker Gary Hooper – a target for newly-promoted English premier league side Southampton.

“I have a lot of work to do,” added Lennon.

“You enjoy the trophy celebration for a day or two, and then you start planning for next year.

“We will be trying to offload a few players in the summer and maybe add two or three.

“We are pretty happy with the nucleus of the squad we have, there are some talented young players and against Norwich you saw a glimpse of some of the ones just bubbling under who can play in a pretty good environment.

“The club is in a good state at the minute, but we would like to bring two or three bits of quality in to add to that.”

Celtic were cheered on in Norfolk by a 2,500-strong travelling contingent last night, who helped make for a special atmosphere at Carrow Road.

Lennon paid tribute to the Bhoys faithful.

“I’ve spoken about our supporters on many occasions and about how much their backing means to me and to the team, and you saw that again at Carrow Road,” he said.

“It was a large and enthusiastic travelling support, and our fans really did help make the night such a special one.

“It was also great to meet up with an old friend in [Norwich boss] Paul Lambert, and you could see just how much he still means to the Celtic support.

“I would like to thank our supporters again for showing why they are the best fans in football.

“They were a real credit to the club and we have made a lot of new friends at Norwich because of them.”

  27. I will trawl back to find the ole doc giving permission for the bhoys to participate this evening…

From a tug boat by the river, don´t you know

There´s a cement bag just dropping on down

That cement’s there, it´s there for the weight, dear

Five will get you ten Old Mack is back in town

D´ya hear ´bout Louie Miller he disappeared, baby

After drawing out his hard earned cash

And now MacHeath spends, he spends just like a saailor, like a sailor
