POAK can offer Greg Taylor a three year contract, which, for Greek incentives to attract foreign labour, half of which is exempt from income tax. The other half would be subject to a top rate 3% less than the top rate in Scotland. His net earnings there are likely to be higher than what’s on offer on Scotland.
It’s clear the player world rather stay at Celtic, or he would already have signed elsewhere. It’s also clear Celtic would rather he stay. But every asset has a monetary value and every squad place is important.
I believe back up players should have their best years ahead of them. We develop young talent or we regress.

What larks Paul
Crossbar
Spellchecker on the blink Paul ?😜
It’s a bit early so you can take my word for it that I’ve not taken a drink but…
It’s crossed my mind more than once than Greg could understudy CalMac to good effect in the coming season or two. He’s got a lot of the attributes for that position.
“It’s clear the player world rather stay at Celtic”
– beg to differ Paul if that were the case he would have signed,as he is a free agent, ball is in his court.
“It’s also clear Celtic would rather he stay”
– making it up now Paul,we do not know and you dont either what was offered to Greg or his intention⅕.it never matched his demands that after it was made clear
– the manager wanted him
– the player was looking to stay.
Maybe we have to look at a tax policy that is uncompetitive with a greek company,we have the means, turnover and bank balance to overcome any hurdle implied.
The 3% differential is not wrong,i remember when a Labour party had a sniff of socialism about it,it could redistribute wealth from rich to poor.it is imo fair and just to do that, regardless of which party is in charge of tax policy. The scarlet marketeers currently align totally with the neo liberal arguement that taxing the rich disincentivizes,i dont care if they play for Celtic if they earn over a certain amount they pay.that is fair and just

Just had a wee walk around Celtic Park there. What a mess the stadium is in. Plenty work to do there just to make it look decent and never mind anything to be proud of.
Not just usual annual maintenance stuff. Really shabby paintwork on all the security barriers peeling off everywhere. Rubbish strewn all over the place since last game. Graffiti from the ultras and GB on almost every external sign. It has the feel of a stadium which is about to be torn down.
The old MainStand internals are reminiscent of an old run down village pub or hall. The boardroom has the feel of a cheap undertakers parlour and the North stand lounges are simply passageways under the stand converted into carpeted bars instead of kiosks.
The place and the facilities really don’t match the £42 a game basic season ticket price never mind the £60 big game price. As for the premium £115 …..that is a joke.
Yet supply and demand suggests the punters are willing to pay. Just like I did for another season. Let’s hope our recruitment guys and management make it worth while this season.
Embarrassing that we advertise and take folks on tours of this place.

Lots of folks I know would rather live in Scotland and enjoy being here but have to work abroad to earn enough to keep themselves and family enjoying a decent lifestyle.
If we can’t be wage competitive then it is a factor. Sadly footballers hearts might be in one place but their heads and limited shelf life might take them elsewhere.

“insightful and scintillating” posts
You flatter me. They are neither.
I’m becoming Victor Meldrew before my very eyes.
I can actually see it happening.
Some of the signs are more obvious than others including …
Having a monologue in front of audience and deluding oneself that it’s a dialogue.

B78 earlier.
I hear you and I agree.
I mentioned on here earlier this week my desire to contact the stadium manager about the matchday experience.
Driven no doubt by having just forked out for four adult season tickets.
You make several insightful observations.
Frankly, I’d settle for just four things.
1. The absence of pigeon sh1t on my seat
2. Stairs without chipped and broken edges
3. Remove dangling cables above my head
(I kid you not)
4. This is a stretch. WiFi that works.
(Season that just ended, I made ZERO successful connections to Celtic WiFi)

Good luck to Greg and his new family, fair play for broadening his and his new family’s horizons. A nice adventure and a different culture.

Maybe I’m easily pleased but I always find your posts insightful. Varied, interesting and balanced as well, and most importantly fair.
C40me – thank you.
Re Paul’s “tax” leader – IMHO the underlying facts validate the headline.
What would really illustrate this and bring it to life?
(No, I’m not volunteering)
A simple calculation showing how much it would cost both Celtic and PAOK to put £10k per week clear in Greg’s hip.
I think it would surprise and illuminate.
BSR @ 10:32 – nice one.
Heard the news last night.
Cue knuckle dragging morons shouting loudly about sweetheart deals and tunnels to the Vatican.
Yawn.

Is the old St.Mungo`s school still on Parson Street?
Or, is that school you referred the old Mungo?

I visited there long time ago with a colleague. They were repairing Dali’s Christ of Saint John of the Cross on the premises at the time. We were asked not to reveal the location for obvious reasons. The building did not have great security…

Nice wee reminder for our friends in the Orange Woke :-)
Pep Guardiola received an honorary degree from the University of Manchester yesterday. He made reference to the war in Gaza. (it’s not a war, it’s genocide)⬅those are my words.
“There is a story I’m reminded of. A forest is on fire. All the animals live terrified, helpless. But a small bird flies back and forth to the sea, carrying drops of water in its little beak.
“A snake laughs, and asks: ‘Why bro? You will never put the fire out.’ The bird replies: ‘Yes, I know.’ ‘Then why do you do it again and again?’, the snake asks once again. ‘I’m just doing my part,’ the bird replies for the last time.
“The bird knows it won’t stop the fire, but it refused to do nothing.”

And if you elect the WPB there will b ZERO Taxes for ANYONE!!!!
That’s correct – “ZERO Taxes for ANYONE!!!!”
The WPB say that, In a country with its own Banking System giving it a Licence to print it’s own money, then why do we need to Tax its Citizen’s?
As the Ukraine – Russia Conflict started, an American Journalist asked then POTUS, creepy Joe Biden, “Mr President you have just said that the INITIAL $30 BILLION to UKR won’t cost US tax payers a single cent more, as we’ll just print more money, that being the case, why do American Citizen’s have to pay Taxes, if we can just print more money?”
Creepy JB got the message through his earpiece ( from puppet string puller Obama ) to turn away from THAT Journalist and take another question from a DIFFERENT Journalist.
In the background number 1 Journalist could be heard being DRAGGED OUT of the Press conference, and anybody reporting on this would not be given any future Press passes!
BUT, The WPB will END ALL TAXES!!!
George Galloway said: “N A COUNTRY WITH IT’S OWN BANKING SYSTEM, AND THEREFORE AN ABILITY TO PRINT IT’S OWN MONEY, WHENEVER, WHEREVER, WE AT THE WPB SEE NO NEED TO TAX UK CITIZEN’S. AND WE’LL START MINING OUR OWN COAL FIELDS RATHER THAN IMPORT IT FROM COUNTRIES THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY, DITTO OUR OILFIELDS.”
The WPB approach is to RIP UP the Economy and write out a NEW Economy based on the needs of the 99%. And end the Monarchy.
Retirement age for all will begin a 60 yoa, Education will be free for you entire life, etc, etc.
These are just some of the reasons why George Galloway and anybody from WPB ( WORKERS PARTY OF BRITAIN ) are 100% BANNED from ALL Mainstream Media, which is a form of Election Rigging.
Just think of the players we’d be able to attract if daft Tims elected the Workers Party of Britain rather than the horrible, thieving, deceiving, degenerate, swamp that they do vote for!
Good afternoon, An Tearmann.
I am hoping to arrange a visit to Glasgow some time soon. We can catch up with BRRB and talk all things Celtic.
See you soon.

BTW there are a lot of complaints about the Main Stand. I agree wholeheartedly that something needs to be done. I dream of a total rebuild, but that ain’t going to happen. Imagine if it did, Celtic Park hosting a European Final – you can but dream.
In Brendan, I trust.
Loads of players in their early 20s disappear down the plug hole. Lots of players in their late 20s still command huge transfer fees.
How about this for a strategy. Sign the best quality we can afford to suit the specific needs of the whole squad rather than just the first team and make the most each year of the tens of millions on offer in Europe.

In a League were 95% of our opponents have about between 5 – 10% of Celtic’s resources, then it should be a walk in the park for Celtic no matter who the manager is.
The main fault with Brendan is the lack of high, or long out balls to our wide players, giving a lack of options for the wide players to run onto the ball, as opposed to receiving the ball with their backs to goal, then having to turn back and play back the way like we saw for almost 130 minutes in our recently lost SCF to Aberdeen FC.
dearie me
Guardiola comments.

Scullybhoy,
I said on here before.Buy or lease The Emirates, long term.Give the Emirates naming rights to the new stand for 25 years, money to build new stand along with loans.Call in the Celtic Emirates TriangleBa4s restaurants, car parking,at the Emirates, and still keeping the present uses going.Add another level to the Celtic Superstore, another bar/ snack area..When completed, visually stunning, and I would imagine The Emirates would be mightily impressed..
There are many ways of raising the cash if the will is there..
Sad to see we Greg go. A great servant and proved to be good value for money.

Some great ideas there. I was in the Main Stand for Trophy Day last year, and it was like a rabbit warren.
I know the main stand is the priority and has been left far too long in its current state but the other areas (internal and external) are in a bit of a sorry state too. The internal stairwells and other areas could at least have a lick of paint or murals of past players, significant Celtic events and people. The stairwells themselves could have some pop up food stalls or themed events, e.g. The Celtic Foundation, The Kano Foundation (I know they are not directly affiliated), The Celtic Graves Society if they are still on the go, etc Foodcourts are still way off where they should be, hot water non existent, toilets with no paper towels by half time, poor WIFI . Were it not Celtic, we would not put up with this sub standard fan experience. I sit in JS 443 so mainly based on that area but have been elsewhere in stadium and exoerience is similar.
KELVINBHOY,
I have been in the North Stand for more years than I dare to remember. I have been banging on for years for at least hot water in the toilets. Wifi is dire (and I am not great at techie stuff).
Kelvinbhoy
I am in JS 443, row EE (second from the back), seat 32.
Great shelter on a cold December night.
The stadium is tatty and could certainly be smartened up at relatively low cost.
h and s wont allow pop up stalls in the stairwells that is a non starter.
the artwork though easy fix. the gb entrances are stunning

The main stand has got to get sorted. Maybe an online or match day petition is need by mobilised season ticket holders to apply some pressure.
Hrvatski Jim on 10th June 2025 2:14 pm –
Am in row E seat 10 or 11 depending on who is with me. Come and say hello next season. I may get vertigo if I try to come up to you 😃
Just think of the options of a James Connolly type of Socialism, from the WPB UK Government would open up.
Zero Taxes!
Zero Billionaires as they’ll be outlawed!
Zero Wars as Imperialist Warmongering NATO would be BANNED from UK by the WPB.
Steel balls on the Leader would ensure ALL of this and so much more.
All Football Clubs to be owned by Fans ( Jeremy Corbyn proposed this and daft Tims called him “UNIONIST VERMIN” as they voted for the HUN-UGLY Snp ) and WPB Government will provide the necessary Frameworks for this, etc.
An Option to remove unnecessary Thatcherised seating, proposed by Liverpool fans and it HAD TO come from them as they were the VICTIMS at Hillsborough 1989, and Jeremy Corbyn got the ball rolling at Labour Party Conference, only for the FAKE Glasgow Republican’s to vote against him as he was “UNIONIST VERMIN” said the daft Tims in 2017 – 2019 UK GE’s.
Only 2,000 votes would have seen a Corbyn Government in UK IN 2017.
ffs!
How many of our fellow Innocent Human Beings have been killed because of this?
Example – There would have been ZERO C19 PLANDEMIC BS in UK if Corbyn, or WPB would have been in Government.
Something to Seriously consider there!
Liverpool fans proposed these changes to Corbyn and his team, All based on the back of the ‘Engineered Hillsborough disaster 1989’ killing 97 Innocent Liverpool lads, and saw Thatcherites using the Government SANCTIONED 1989 disaster to bring in all seating.
And this was probably fuelled by Celtic having no more Eloquent and, Erudite, Resistance, and thoroughly Combative on Celtic issues, and Comrade base building with other Working Class clubs like, Liverpool, Man UTD, Nottingham Forest, West Ham United, Everton, etc, capabilities on the board, without the NEVER REPLACED, Mr Desmond White, who died in 1985 and so did Celtic’s Integrity, and status of the club for the poor and impoverished supporters.
We had a Celtic from late 1985 – 1994 being led by a hapless bunch of fools who were kidded and duped at every turn. ie: a Celtic house of cards which could be easily deceived (Hillsborough psyop) and made to CONFORM to the new Thatcherised Football stadium ‘PRISONS’ were fans are seated and SPIED ON for the entirety of every game without their consent.
Remove all Jungle spirited Souls and Upitty Tims and BINGO!
Now you’ll probably need a pixel (backdoored) phone to access your tickets soon and it’ll be spun as “FOR YOUR SECURITY” aha.
Thatcherised stadiums which were intended to remove atmosphere and Terracing Comradeship, removing contentious standing areas like the Parkhead Jungle, The Man Utd Stretford End, the Liverpool Kop, etc, as these were breeding grounds for fanatical support of the Irish Republicanism during the Irish Armed Struggle, which the British called, “The Trouble’s” aye troubles cause the Irish showed the World how to resist their Imperial invaders, since 1916 – 1998.
And the horrible and evil Terraces also inspired Socialism, and Working Class Uprising, Energy Bases, in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, London, etc.
Celtic fans would never have voted for the Horrible Snp who tried to jail all Celtic fans has ALL SEATING not happened!
All Seating brain-drain and easily duped Celtic fans voted AGAINST Corbyn and put the Orange Ba#turd Snp back into power again.
ffs!
This only happened because Football Terraces were removed by scheming Thatcherites, and boring all seating has made fans DIM!
Thatcher has won!
The country has been dead since 1979!
Saint Stivs on 10th June 2025 2:15 pm –
You are more clued up in that regard than me SS but H&S allow or turn a blind eye to the windfall tickets being sold on a stairwell. Either way we are all agreed more focus is needed on the stadium environs and match day experience. Some of
the ideas seen on here and elsewhere are more costly/harder to implement than others and there are undoubtedly more fans with similar views and ideas, all of which should be encouraged by the Club and assessed.
Welcome home Kieran 👍
