POAK can offer Greg Taylor a three year contract, which, for Greek incentives to attract foreign labour, half of which is exempt from income tax. The other half would be subject to a top rate 3% less than the top rate in Scotland. His net earnings there are likely to be higher than what’s on offer on Scotland.
It’s clear the player world rather stay at Celtic, or he would already have signed elsewhere. It’s also clear Celtic would rather he stay. But every asset has a monetary value and every squad place is important.
I believe back up players should have their best years ahead of them. We develop young talent or we regress.

Read an article recently that stated around 20% of footballers take nicotine patches……sincerely hope that’s not the case with us!
Used to cringe when cameras panned onto Lenny and he was shoveling one into his mouth!!

Nicotine on its own without all the bad stuff when smoked, tar etc . Apparantly !! is suppose to help in longetivity, and its a stimulant.

Pure nicotine , yes stimulant but highly addictive and can cause gum disease amongst a load of other things….just wonder why a sportsperson today would use something like this, seems crazy !

There was a recent upsurge in Western Government’s who were falling over themselves to ban cigarette smoking.
That sounds like a welcome and healthy approach.
Right? Actually No?
The reason for banning cigarettes?
Cigarette Nicotine was repelling the “Snake Venom” that was in covid-vaccines, from reaching vital organs in the Human body.

Is that the first use of “Celtic dithering “ in this transfer window? :)
Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has confirmed that Celtic have reignited their interest in Sarpsborg winger Sondre Ørjasæter. Brendan Rodgers’ side were linked with the player in January but no deal was forthcoming.
In a Tweet posted on Tuesday evening, Joseph revealed that Celtic had reignited their interest in the player, after having a £4.6m bid rejected in January.

Fulham boss Marco Silva took time out to praise Callum Osmand towards the end of the season as he invited the Welshman to train with the first team.
However, the Under-17 international didn’t quite do enough to earn a place on the bench during the final run-in. When speaking about Osmand, Silva said, via HammyEnd: “It’s not his first time he’s been with us. Last season, he had some sessions with us, pre-season too, and the beginning of the season. He is much more mobile [than a traditional centre forward], let’s see if he is going to have a chance or not to play some minutes, but he is going to have a chance to train much more with us, to be much more involved with the first team.
“He needs more senior football in his legs to see how he can adapt, perform. He’s got the profile that I like. When he has a chance, he can punish the opposition. I can see the talent, in a position that is very difficult to play in the Premier League. Probably if you play another striker by his side … you will take the best from him. Let’s hope we can help him to be ready for the Premier League.”

Sondre Ørjasæter (2003) is one of the brightest talents in Norwegian football. In his debut season in the Eliteserien, he has already established himself as a key player for Sarpsborg 08. The left winger is part of a promising new generation of Norwegian wide players, alongside talents like Antonio Nusa of RB Leipzig and Sindre Walle Egeli of FC Nordsjælland. A naturally right-footed player, Ørjasæter operates as an inverted winger, excelling with his explosiveness and aggressiveness in direct 1v1 situations.
Standing at 1.80 m, Sondre Ørjasæter possesses an athletic build combined with electric dynamism and exceptional mobility on the pitch. His powerful acceleration and impressive pace make him a constant threat, both with and without the ball. While he is not particularly muscular, as we will explain below, this does not hinder his ability to excel in duels, where he is remarkably effective.
At Sarpsborg 08, Ørjasæter operates as a left winger in a 4-2-3-1 system, positioning himself very wide on the pitch—where his magic truly begins. Few players in Scandinavia, and even fewer in the Norwegian Eliteserien, are as creative and dynamic as Ørjasæter. His primary strengths lie in his creativity and explosiveness in 1v1 situations. Whether by dribbling or sprinting past defenders, he excels in direct duels.
The data backs this up: among Eliteserien wingers, Ørjasæter leads the league in successful dribbles this season, with 67, and boasts a dribble success rate of 54.5%—well above the league average. Starting from wide areas, he frequently cuts inside before making decisions. He is an effective crosser, often delivering floated balls to the far post, and also takes advantage of his position to unleash powerful shots from distance. However, his shooting could improve in terms of accuracy, as many of his attempts are centrally placed. Still, he leads all wingers in the division with 30 shots on target this season.
With his attacking mindset, Ørjasæter has the potential to surpass double digits in both goals and assists as he refines his finishing. He also excels in solving challenges in tight spaces, demonstrating excellent spatial awareness on the ball—an attribute critical to adapting to higher levels of competition.
Not only is Ørjasæeter a skillful winger, but he is also a tireless worker on the pitch. He is an aggressive player off the ball, frequently tracking back to contribute to defensive tasks. Impressively, he leads all wingers in the league in recoveries, with 118, utilizing his body intelligently to win ground duels across all thirds of the pitch. However, there are areas for improvement. He struggles with high balls and is notably inefficient in aerial duels, especially when compared to his high success rate in ground challenges.
Ørjasæeter is a player destined to shine on the biggest stages—a winger who could reignite anyone’s love for the game. His meteoric rise from the OBOS-ligaen last season to the Eliteserien has been remarkable, which could make it difficult for Sarpsborg to hold onto him in the upcoming transfer window. A smart next step in his career could involve joining a top club in Belgium, Denmark, or Austria. Such a move would provide the ideal platform to test his potential for a future in one of Europe’s top five leagues, which seems to be his ultimate destination.
Norn Ireland ? Sure the people are grand. Alway a friendly smile and a warm welcome for everyone. . . . . . .

OK. Decided to have a go at crunching the numbers.
For ease of calculation used the highest rate of tax, 45% and 48%, across the board.
Rates are tapered but high earners hit super tax rates quick enough.
Plus in UK you lose your tax free allowance too.
Lets assume GT is offered €20,000 per week gross by both PAOK and Celtic.
At PAOK, €10k is tax free, the other €10k taxed at 45%.
GT clears $15,500 per week. Nice work
Here, he gets taxed at 48% across the board so clears €10,400.
By my fag packet arithmetic we’d need to offer close to €30k per week gross to match his net income in Greece.
Almost 50% more !
Hmm.

With renumeration for Celtic players ( Not including management ) in excess of £30m per year the differential between ourselves and others outwith Scotland can be vast.
Put simply, it will cost us more to sign a player than it would cost a comparable English club.
Im not going to argue the merit of a 48 percentage tax bracket, but I do acknowledge it makes it that wee bit more difficult and costly for us.
HH.
Just my opinion. The football we played under Brendan Rodgers in the first half of the season was the best we’ve played in years .
We looked like a top team and were given real respect from our European opponents.
In the past it seemed the crowd lifted us to victory and although that was obviously still a factor, we were playing a high quality brand of football.

Lots of folks I know would rather live in Scotland and enjoy being here but have to work abroad to earn enough to keep themselves and family enjoying a decent lifestyle.
If we can’t be wage competitive then it is a factor. Sadly footballers hearts might be in one place but their heads and limited shelf life might take them elsewhere.
============≈=======
Lots of folk in todays Global world can site themselves in an enviroment that enables them, their families and their business to grow dynamicaĺly,all via the return key, providing them with a secure path to contentment for all
who support(family) the main provider.
Who are we not being ‘wage competitive’ with?
The Greeks? or is it those in the U.K we have the difference in rate(3%) with – England,i would we simply cant be competitive in anything to do with England,be it tax or wages in general.i think this is a fake arguement. The wages in England are exponentially better than here,
I think you use players as cover for this debate when we know players and agents seek the best deal as is their right under Bosman.
We have a template of success(as you call it player trading model) were a young player can be coached to be a winner in cups, league and Europe, there are experiences in there that are worth paying the extra for as a club(we can well afford to overcome a 3% difference, and for the player who will grow under our coach godwillin.
Good luck to Greg i hope it all works out for him and his new family,am still a tad bemused our managers wish(to keep him) wasnt worked on.
But thats modrin fitba, some come some go.

You would be goin down to Division3 in England.
Can you,as you brought it up give an example of a ‘comparable club’in England or elsewhere for that matter.
Of course you are not goin to argue the merits of a higher, more redistributive rate of tax,Staunur :-)and the labour party along with most govts in the neo liberal west baulk at any hint of transferring wealth from rich to poor,it was a socialist fundamental, alas growing inequality will continue. Was saddened to read you cheer Pauls highlighting of the 3% difference in tax,imo the “competitive” chat can easily be overcome by Celtic,Labour being against distributing wealth and cheerleading wage comparison(with no1 in particular) show idiom over reality, which only ends in higher profits
A player can play and experience winning, cups, league and unlike our ‘comparable clubs’ in monetary terms experience European competition, all the while living in one of the worlds beautiful countries with a great quality of life.

Foreign players arrive at Celtic and after a couple of home games were 75% of the crowd start leaving with 30 minutes to go, they’ll be thinking “We must be piss poor?”
Will Brendan put the players straight about the Cycle lanes and the clowns who voted for the Hollyrude clown show?

Trusty has given us some excellent CH performances, yet he seems to be very uncomfortable with the physicality of the SPL.
Can he improve his strength and conditioning? Let’s hope so.
It’s a football oddity that he can perform at an elite level in Bergamo yet struggle domestically, I’m sure the way the games are officiated has a lot to do with that – Kuhn is another one who looks better on the higher stage.
We need to remember this when recruiting, as the physicality and agression necessary to thrive in the SPL will do us no harm in Europe.
