Tax and development

143

POAK can offer Greg Taylor a three year contract, which, for Greek incentives to attract foreign labour, half of which is exempt from income tax.  The other half would be subject to a top rate 3% less than the top rate in Scotland.  His net earnings there are likely to be higher than what’s on offer on Scotland.

It’s clear the player world rather stay at Celtic, or he would already have signed elsewhere. It’s also clear Celtic would rather he stay. But every asset has a monetary value and every squad place is important.

I believe back up players should have their best years ahead of them.  We develop young talent or we regress.

    Good morning CQN.

Woke up to sunshine 👍 and work 👎.

You can’t have everything I suppose.

    GP – cheers.

I think I’m in the exact same spot as you.

Facts simply show we have a bit of a financial disadvantage … when competing to sign players … as a result of which country we operate in.

For me, it just shines some more light on how difficult it is to get players in … never mind the right ones.

BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 10TH JUNE 2025 11:42 PM

By my fag packet arithmetic we’d need to offer close to €30k per week gross to match his net income in Greece.

    Almost 50% more !

    Hmm

And if you have a human conscience that applies also to the person you see in the mirror.

Big positive about CQN for this consumer?

Intelligent, stimulating posts I don’t necessarily agree with.

    BSR – aye.

Blissfully unaware was I of this tax break in Greece.

Another positive about CQN for me.

So the solution to Celtics player signing issues is to tax incredibly rich young men less than they would be elsewhere?

    Utter absolute guff.

How about cutting benefits to reduce taxes?

Would that have encouraged Greg to stay?

Why didn’t KT go to Greece? He could have cut his tax bill.

  9. Timmy 7 noted,

Nobody has stated tax footballers less. We have simply stated the taxation factuals which Celtic have to overcome.

As for KT, perhaps the fact that he is a single multi millionaire due to leaving us has influenced his decision.

    Totally different scenario from GT.

    HH.

  10. timmy7_noted on

Greenpinata, the choices that Greg and kt make are theirs. Discussion on tax is a red herring.

Why was Greg allowed to leave for free? Who at Celtic allowed us to get into a position where Greg had all the cards and we were by bystanders in his decision? That’s what needs to be addressed not tax levels.

Lack of planning on the football side of the business, the same issue we have had since Martins time.

Still looking for a back up left back, how long is that now?

  11. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

Seems like a very low key reaction to Celtic signing someone who has played for top tier clubs in England and Spain, featured in a Champions League semi-final and in theory is entering the peak years of his career.

Meanwhile, the SMSM tell us R2ngers are interested in a “Danish superstar”🤔

  12. !!Bada Bing!! on

Taylor was getting various offers from the Club for about 8 months, Brendan said around November we made an offer to extend

  13. timmy7_noted on

Bada, too late and no serious back up. Greg was in the driving seat. As ever we fecked it.

But we tax more in Scotland………..

If the Greeks had to pay a fee Greg would still be here.

  16. Defining Online Trolls

Trolls are individuals who intentionally stir up trouble online by provoking or insulting others.

Their primary goal is to upset the community or derail productive discussions.

    Common Tactics Used by Trolls

Trolls often use inflammatory language, post off-topic comments, or spam irrelevant links.

They thrive on creating chaos and getting attention, which is why it’s crucial to recognize their tactics early.

The Impact of Trolls on Your Blog

The presence of trolls can have serious consequences for your blog.

    Disrupting Conversations

Trolls derail meaningful conversations, making it difficult for others to engage in thoughtful discussions. They can shift the focus from valuable content to petty arguments.

    Damaging Reputation and Engagement

Allowing trolls to run rampant can tarnish your blog’s reputation.

It can discourage genuine readers from commenting, leading to a decrease in overall engagement.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Dont engage by stating the obvious.

Old saying (not sure of the origin), ‘Don’t wrestle with pigs. You both get filthy, but the pig likes it.’
