Tax cheats and self-serving Help

673

Well, at least we don’t live in Spain, where tax fraud convicts are lauded like some sort of distorted victim if they have a connection to football. No one really expected Leonel Messi to go to prison, accountability in Spain isn’t that exacting, but he will have to live with a conviction for defrauding the tax system of millions of euros. A shameful act for one so wealthy.

I’ve always been a bit uncomfortable at the politicisation (from all sides) of the poppy and charities like Help for Heroes. Society has been poor at looking after its literal cannon fodder in the 100 years since the Somme, but flag wavers around these parts have imposed political sentiment on these charities which doesn’t exist elsewhere in the UK.

Four years on from the infamous Rangers-Milan legends supposed charity match, James Doleman’s article yesterday, on the unauthorised use of Help for Heroes logos on t-shirts, gives us more to ponder. It’s impossible to damage a brand which is already at junk value, but activity like this makes it difficult for all good causes to make their appeals.

Dembelle is a big bhoy. Great run out, That is Good form for first round. More confident. Think we have the players for at least the first rounds if Brendan can find right combination and add more goals to the team.

Haven’t seen any of the game but I’m sure Efe’s playing well…is he?

Thanks to all for the assistance.

The tackle on Henderson was a shocker, the dude looked very frustrated.

SJ ends up hurting himself, it was always thus.

Looking forward to the 2nd half.

  7. Good performance.

I think people are over-interpreting to portray this as radically different to what we were doing last pre-season.

It’s good but its only slightly better in performance terms but the results are good, so far.

It’s still just the warm up period. The real stuff has yet to arrive.

  8. Hail Hail CQNers after a few months off. Enjoyed the first half, our passing is accurate and our tackling strong. Dembele has good movement. Olimpija haven’t threatened but then we’ve stopped them playing. I can see a couple more goals for us in the second half.

Efe hasn’t put a foot wrong, but never fear, there are those just waiting with baited breath……some are desperate for him to make a mistake.

  11. Well done Celtic.

Best player on park so far?

    Big Nirlo.

Certainly answered the question, does he want to be here?

    Looking forward to second half.

There is no denying that Stefan on form is a top player, Brown looking fitter and faster and Bitton having has some great touches, I would say they are both staying, But who is going? we have so many MD players.

Brendan’s ideas are there for all to see, As mentioned this was what Ronnie spoke about and now we are doing it. Well done Brendan and the players for responding and aye Efe hasn’t put a foot wrong yet. ;)

  13. Decent first half performance.

All three players linked with moves away doing well.

Real high pressing. Dembele looks good but Griff showing as number one striker with an excellent goal.

Efe playing well – one opponent skipped past him on the outside but to be fair it was a decent run. Other than that the big man has been steady and drving forward to pick passes to Jo Hanson a few times

The team just looks assured, as if they know the plan and the role they are being asked to play.

TET….Hope all the players who have been blogflogged lately are doing well…

  16. i’m happy , very happy considering the limited time we have had to gel. Henderson looks leaner and is a good ball player, brown looks sharp and hungry, midfield are moving the ball quicker, our rhythm is helping with off the ball running. Debelle hold up play and link up is great. Happy hoop!

Everyone in the squad has upped their game since Brendan has come in. KC and GMS aside because of injury. Brendan got a very hard job sorting through the squad. It was easier to go through the squad on last season’s form but they all look fit, sharp and confident.
