Taxed limbs and minds

248

I looked up at the clock, 80 minutes.  The closing moments would hold a disproportionate weight on our season.  After a couple of early chances, Motherwell did not cause Joe Hart any difficulty, but Celtic, unable to retain possession, could do no more than clear their lines and wait for the next wave of attack as yesterday’s games closed.

Winning leagues is all about getting the job done, not being a hard luck story.  Celtic, without a striker throughout the game, and weakened further through injury during it, won the three points, our fourth single goal victory in five league outings.  That freewheeling performance at Tannadice a week ago was the exception.

There is a hidden problem when games are so tight; players need to compete to the last kick.  This will drain energy further for a squad, with all the European games, internationals and unmatched ability to reach cup finals, already plays more football than any other in the game.  Limbs and minds are taxed.

My worry is not for the big games.  Adrenaline will pump in bucketfuls at Hampden and against Newco.  Not so much at Dingwall, Paisley or Perth.

As for the Europa Conference draw: anyone but Tottenham, please.  They were in the Champions League Final two years ago and have not slipped into obscurity that quickly.

  2. Before i start. I love Celtic. I love football. I keep an eye on politics but not as any sort of expert. Something bugs me.

The Christmas party at no10 last year has been accepted as having taken place. The dwelling of the Prime Minister of the UK lives there but never knew what was going on.

The police and security forces never acted at the time and now wont act retrospectively.

Andrew the ‘prince’ of Epstein Island has allegations which should be easily proved due to his status and again the police presence which he requires.

Do the young men and women supporting Celtic have any chance? The westminster parliament and the royal family seem to be above reproach from the police.

Are people from ‘higher’ social standing above the law?

In an organisation as huge as the police why is there not one single whistleblower. Its a massive thing to ask of someone but surely someone must know that there is wrongdoing within the police. A bigger issue than the young people who love Celtic.

  3. People on here slaughtered AR

  7. Just for fun. I live in Mossend. ‘Stephen of Derby’ was my moniker when the Derby Inn was my local. I love the craic on here and am neither a political or even Celtic history heavyweight. Its just hard to chastise people going to support their team under the scrutiny of the police when the leaders of this Island are apparently not within the law.

No more. I LOVE CELTIC. BIG ANGE. KYOGO……. and the rest.

I messaged my brother today who has covid today. I said, “fit for the cup final?”. He said, “I should be ok””.

I said not you KYOGO YA FECKIN EEJIT

  8. An Tearmann at 8.17 , Irvine Bhoy’s you tube links to our goals from 1981 onwards are tremendous . If any readers of this site are killing Joke fans , he has plenty of Footage of them on his you tube page also.

Loads of great memories on the link you posted. The one nil win at Pittodrie in 1986 a game we had to win to give us a chance of winning the league in the 1985/86 season was a terrific experience despite le petit merde scoring.

About six weeks before we won the league at Love Street , we played a rearranged game there which we won 2 1 with Paul McStay scoring a very late winner . This match tends to be forgotten about in the run in of the above season.

  9. JVR.

Thanks for response.that season ending was amazing considering the chase.Brian mcClair was a machine that year and merde got the limelight. Top day,top ending 🤐will check out killing joke links.

  10. Thanks for a largely decent read-back of testy back and forths without abuse or politics for a change; the Mae West quip, Kyogo interview, tidbits about Borussia, braw, boozers and the GB demographics – all a good read.

    Thanks!

Chris Jullien is a right good player no doubt. For me, CCV is a more consistent and robust CB and my original point was I don’t see our resource managers keeping both having already shelled out on Starfelt. Nice if we had the luxury of all 3 but – and it’s an unknown – if Jullien’s french head has been dunted – or turned like Eddie’s and Olli’s were – I’d be happy with cashing in and putting that towards locking Cameron on a long term.

  14. AnnTearmann, the Irvine Bhoy footage of the league cup quarter final we won on penalties being down to ten men brought back many good memories of a brilliant performance by us that night at Pittodrie. Aberdeen though not as strong as they had been were still a very tough team team to play against.

Ferguson left for Man U not long after that match.

  15. Neustadt apols if ive wound you up there. My humour isnt always that funny. Im sure i am very inoffensive in person. Ive lurked in here for years. After i left bellshill and mossend 101. They went mad mad at me. A drummer with no rythm they said!😂

Also new a couple of brothers (Millar) who played for Bellshill Miners (Hattonrigg red ash… ggrrrr)

  18. That red ash became the ground of Bellshill Athletic. Played there many times myself. It was the best red ash in the area if there was such a thing. Eventually Mcormicks bar played sone of their matches there. Good times.

Didnt know Verrechia had to go to college to slap emulsion about the place. (Another wee joke). Hes an absolute gent!

  20. Thanks for the welcome gents. Feel quite proud to have had a go at this. The Shieling was the Woodend. I was in park nextdoor drinking Buckie. Night fellow tims.

Nite nite sleep tight. Dont let the bed bugs bite😂

  21. The latest round of Superbru predictors includes a fixture tomorrow night and 2 on Wednesday so we still need predictions from Gscbhoy, Bateen Bhoy, BGFC, Call Me Gerry, Marspapa, One Malloy, St Tams, wee BGFC, Ayrshire Tim, BRTH and The Lurkin Tim. I will update the round scores after the Wednesday night games.

We have £555 to play for in total prixe money, after donating £1000 to Sean’s Trust back in July.

I propose that we will pay out £355 in an end of season pay out and £200 pound in interim prizes for the leaderboard up to, and including, the end of December 2021 fixtures, with £100 going to our leader, £65 to second place and £35 to third place.

In the event of a 2 way tie in first place, £165 will be split between two (£82.50 each). A 3 way tie will see each get £66.66.

If 2, 3 or more tie for 2nd spot, they will share £100 equally between them.

The remainder of the money will be awarded between first , second, and third winners at the end of the league campaign, with a special prize awarded to the weekly winner with the highest points total in any given week. The split of this £355 pot will be announced after we have allocated our December winners. The leaders so far in our highest single week total are:-

    Auldheid 14.5 points – week 15

Call Me Gerry -14 points- week 8

    Marspapa- 12.5 – week 2

There’s a chance for someone to top that if they get this week’s 3 midweek games right.

Tx again for your support in this worthwhile cause
