Taxpayers do not sponsor lazy gossips

I know what you were thinking; Zenden, like Ljungberg, but older.  We need experience in the squad but with Commons, Ledley, Samaras and McCourt all able to stake a claim for the left midfield position this is the last place we need to bring in a 35-year-old.  Best of luck to the player but I’m pleased he has left Glasgow.

Today’s Sun report that a senior policeman witnessed a crime being committed but instead of doing what he is paid to do, he reported the incident to Uefa.  You have to wonder about the veracity of the crime.  The officer will do well to explain his actions if they amount to anything more than a few lines in a newspaper.

We are all partisan in this city but Justice is blind to such emotions and taxpayers (that’s you and me) do not sponsor lazy gossips.

I’ve said on here many time, name the only football club in the world, that’s the entire world, where making the sign of the cross is outlawed. Correct first time my friend, poundland!!

Making the sign may upset the bears, oh dear, how sad , never mind.

Personally I don’t really see why players do it but if the want to do handstands and cartwheels before they go on that’s fine by me,

I just read the Leggat thing, well as far as the fifth paragraph, and cut my losses.

He doesn’t appear to know that should the Huns go into administration they will not be eligible for European competition for three years – so the tale he is trying to spin is, like himself … redundant.

The rest of your post I’m afraid is reactionary, half witted, childish, nonsense.

Ireland didn’t starve your forebears. People did. Specifically the ruling class did. Because there was a profit to be made.

And the only people who welcomed the Irish to Scotland at that time were employers who saw a chance of cheap labour. Because there was a profit to be made.

I think it illustraits quite wll how erfed up they are & the fact that OUR society lets it be that way speaks volumes as well. In some way were are our own worst enemy by attempting to live in haromony. We would settle for equality for all views and cultures. I genuinely believe that. And I know we have muppets as well, but the hatred and intollerance comes from on direction, yeah we can react, but seriously I think that one side of scottish culture needs the split to remain other wise they have no culture. They’re culture is hating ours.

James, as usual, a heartfelt post. I can identify with it. I used to love Scotland and I used to Love Ireland. I was just thinking about it last night watching the ROI. I wasn’t the least bit interested. I used to get as excited about that as about Celtic. No more.

What happened? Having lived in quite a few different places in my time I came to notice the common thread of humanity every where I went. There are some great people, some vile people, some good guys with quite awful opinions on certain subjects and most of all I happened to notice that I didn’t like it when one group of people expressed hatred for another because of nationality, religion, ethnicity, colour, whatever. And that happens everywhere. Everywhere is a cold house for someone.

The most powerful line in any film I have ever seen was in the film ‘Romero’ when Oscar is in jail and hears the screams of one of his fellow prisoners being tortured. The line which he screams in righteous anger:

    ‘We are Human Beings’

Even the FollowFollowers unfortunately. They need challenged and educated. People like you can do that. As you say you can do it from anywhere these days. But don’t despair.

I have started to see the sense in not getting too worried about nation states. False inventions made up by the wealthy to protect their own interests. The notion of nationhood is quite preposterous really. SO whatever you decide to do, stay or go, your gonna meet a-holes. you might find a society slightly better adjusted and less full of hatred, alcohol, drugs, crime and bigotry. but it won’t be perfect………

Probably not entirely relevant to your post but something to think about.

Often thought about going somewhere too

  9. Just back from the FAC meeting it started late to about 50 Rangers people entering the meeting and Michael McMahon MSP being late.

A lot of the Celtic fans left as they were feeling intimidated by the other side who took up about 40 seats in the hall.

I personally called the Police as I was not only worried about their conduct and what might happen after the meeting.

The meeting went ahead with the first speaker Kevin Rooney he made a balanced speech but was continually interupted by them.

They started defending racist rangers songs so my son his friends me and a large number left as we would not condone their racist behaviour, I never got the chance to hear Michael McMahon

I fear the large Police presence will not prevent trouble at the end of the meeting

What consequences? What would be different under Labour or Direct rule? Labour politicians, and I write from experience, in Scotland are cowardly when it comes to dealing with sectarianism coming from Rangers. I wrote to the MP and MSP in my parents constituency at the time of the famine song. At the time both of these were people of Irish descent, practising Catholics I might add. They did and said nothing apart from send empty letters abhorring racism and sectarianism from wherever it came.

Perhaps party politics and fear of voters has more to do with weak politicians than where those politicians sit and make law.

I’m not saying there are none but I can count them on one hand in my experience.

I know far more guys who are cops and are all Rangers fans with only one having a temperate attitude to Celtic.

I worked at Celtic park for 9 years with many police officers as a Steward and in that time I can count how many Celtic supporting coppers I met on one hand as well. Now I met many who were from forces around the country and had no interest in football but the ones who were were “staunch” in their support of the other mob.

My best memory of course was when we beat them 5-1

It was November, the rain was gushing down and I was outside the ground in a cordon to make sure none of our fans headed down towards theirs after the match. In the line there was one girl who had a face like thunder. Mark Burchill scored number 5 and the language that came out of her mouth was rather choice. Her mood was compounded when one guy came bolting out after the game and started shouting “All the trouble is down that end today” pointing at their end of the ground. She nearly chased the guy down the street but couldn’t as it was a cordon.

Funny story? Maybe but in my experience that was typical of many cops at Celtic park. I could tell you other stories but I’ll keep them to myself. That one was rather amusing I thought.

Don’t get me wrong, met a few decent ones, met some nice people but from what I hear from people on this blog, things are getting worse now regarding policing and stewarding.

Just a personal opinion based on my experience.

The police force is top heavy with their supporters in my experience.

Regardless a cop shopping Celtic fans to UEFA has no case if he couldn’t arrest the culprits in the first place or else he deliberately or stupidly didn’t do his job.

    Just saying like.

  15. Breaking news

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp faces trial on January 23rd on 2 charges of cheating public revenue. The charges go back to Redknapp’s time as Portsmouth manager. Milan Mandaric also charged. Trial due to last two weeks.

The first charge is payment by Mandaric to Redknapp of $145,000 to Monaco bank account to avoid tax. Second charge similar. Payment of $150,000.

Wonder was this related to the City of London police raids at Portsmouth, Newcastle and Rangers back in 2007.

Aye. I left early as well.

Spotted the Rankers contingent on the way in. They were agitating before the meeting with comments such as ‘You’re all British citizens, where’s your poppies? And when a Bhoy (I assume) came in with an Adidas holdall we were treated to ‘has that got a f@ckin nail bomb in it? Cause that’s what you do. Blow women and weans up wi’ a nail bomb’.

The cops weren’t in attendance then. I only saw them when the esteemed guest speaker turned up half-an-hour late!

It was mainly that type when we were driving up they where gathered outside the Alexandra Bar.

The organisers in fairness booked St. Mungos but the Janitor did not want to work the O.T. so it was switched to Whitehill Sec.

I said to my son on the way up I would not park to close to school as this was a very loyal part of the city with the potential for ambush squads. But they were bold enough to enter the hall, a lot of the youger lads looked a bit spooked not surprising I was determined to stay to end but with the racist statements being made and Famine song on someones phone, my son and his friends said they would listen to no more I went with them as I didnt know how many of them would be waiting outside.

I cannot, do and will not dispute your experiences mate.

I worked for Strathclyde’s finest as a senior civilian manager, reporting to some senior Officers and I am talking about ranks above Inspector.

I cannot say with certainty what the percentage is but I would suspect from my experiences that there are more orc lovers. However, I personally know some high ranking Celtic supporting Cops. One retired, very high Officer never hid his love of Celtic and his disdain of the orcs, every time we beat them he never missed any of his subordinates, rubbed it right into them. The only down side was they had to take it back when they won.

On your point about a Cop shopping Celtic fans to UEFA having no case if he couldn’t arrest the culprits in the first place or else he deliberately or stupidly didn’t do his job…100% behind you on that one. If UEFA were alerted the Police would be asked for their input. Every football match, whether it be Third Division (hopefully seeing the orcs soon, well I can but dream), Second Division or the SPL has an official match report recorded.

Not having a pop back mate, just sharing my experiences as well.

I think this is just to inform that a case is taking place – the finer details of the charges can’t be reported on because it relates to an on-going case involving other people Red was involved with – and it may prejudice the case involving Red.

No surprise that the Fans Against Criminalisation Meeting turned into a rabble.

I understand why our supporters groups wanted to work alongside theirs on this, but I didn’t support it because it was never going to work in practical terms, because the reality of the situation is that we have two different groups striving for different ends.

They want Irishness criminalised. They are not opposed to the bill per se … they want to see the sanctions in it extended so it covers Republican songs. They know the argument over their own tunes has been fought, and lost, and now their intent is to see us dragged into the gutter with them.

A cross-party approach here, whilst well intentioned, was doomed. This is exactly what I thought would happen.

We have nothing in common with these people. They are the common enemy of every decent person in this country. Those who are not opposed to this bill outright because it hampers their freedom to abuse others and reinforce their superiority complex are opposed to it because it does not go far enough.

This bill will become law. Those who oppose it do so for different reasons, and there’s simply no working with those on the other side, nor do I want us to.

  25. Steinreignedsupreme at 15:15
