Taxpayers do not sponsor lazy gossips

I know what you were thinking; Zenden, like Ljungberg, but older.  We need experience in the squad but with Commons, Ledley, Samaras and McCourt all able to stake a claim for the left midfield position this is the last place we need to bring in a 35-year-old.  Best of luck to the player but I’m pleased he has left Glasgow.

Today’s Sun report that a senior policeman witnessed a crime being committed but instead of doing what he is paid to do, he reported the incident to Uefa.  You have to wonder about the veracity of the crime.  The officer will do well to explain his actions if they amount to anything more than a few lines in a newspaper.

We are all partisan in this city but Justice is blind to such emotions and taxpayers (that’s you and me) do not sponsor lazy gossips.

  3. Snake, sorry it was a rushed post don’t want to make it sound like I took offence far from it, its difficult for me as i’ve been away for 8 years now and have a lot of friends in the job back home who I know are tims, but i’ve also read the reports and seen the videos from the GB, and I don’t quite get what the management of the job are up with the videoing etc.

If what is being reported has happened then serious questions have to be asked of the management as to their intentions when ultimately they are the arrbitors of what they will tolerate within the ground and have the power to deal with it there and then rather than bringing it to UEFA.

All that being said and not to start the debate again, I was home a couple of weeks ago and managed to get the Aberdeen game, the GB were magnificent and brought a smile to my face with their can you hear the celtic sing when the surrounding sections wouldn’t join in the Paddy’s fenian army chant, but I really do wish they and the away support would knock of the IRA add ons

Chants from supporters during Rennes clash come under scrutiny

Celtic could face UEFA sanctions after concerns over chants sung by supporters during their recent home Europa League game against Rennes were raised by police.

It is understood that Strathclyde Police made the UEFA delegate aware of what they termed “offensive” singing during Celtic’s 3-1 victory on November 3.

The news comes amid reports UEFA have opened a disciplinary case against Celtic over ‘discriminatory chanting’.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: “We can confirm there were a number of instances during the game of singing offensive songs and inquiries are ongoing to detect the offenders.”

Neither UEFA nor Celtic’s media departments were available for comment on Saturday but reports say the case will be heard on December 8.

Celtic last month urged fans to stop singing pro-IRA chants after being “inundated” with complaints from their own supporters following their 2-0 defeat by Hearts at Tynecastle.

Lothian and Borders Police announced they had launched an investigation into the “singing of sectarian songs” following the Scottish Premier League game on October 2.

    Embarrassment

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: “Chants glorifying the Provisional IRA are totally unacceptable.

“One, it is wrong, and it is an embarrassment to the club and embarrassment to the majority of supporters.

“We have dealt with it at Celtic Park and we will do all we can to make sure it doesn’t happen home or away.

“We don’t want it, we don’t need it. We have the best supporters in the world and hold that reputation dear.”

Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers were hit with UEFA sanctions in April after being found guilty of two counts of “discriminatory behaviour” on the part of their fans following Europa League games against PSV Eindhoven.

Rangers fans were banned from travelling to their next away game in Europe, a Champions League qualifier in Malmo, and the club were fined more than £70,000.

Rangers were also handed a suspended ban on a second away game and warned they faced playing a home game behind closed doors if found guilty of the same offence within three years.

The Ibrox club had received fines following similar incidents in previous matches against Villarreal and Osasuna.

It looks to me like there’s a move on to undermine Peter Lawwell.

If you read the article it’s using Peter Lawwell’s words to justify the action of the police on the night in question.

That and the recent attack on PL by Leggat – http://leggoland2.blogspot.com/ – it would appear there could well be an orchestrated campaign under-way to undermine PL…….this smells of Media House and hundom

Re Zenden. Looks like Lenny does pick the team and not the squad.

As for the bored being complicit in the Rennes thing. No way.

Celtic indirectly promoting a fine on themselves. Not their modus operandi.

More likely the SFA giving instructions to our loyal plod to see if the can get

trigger sanctioned approval that IRA chants are in fact sectarian “coz uefa says so”.

Thus adding to their “legal” sectarian armoury back in the best wee cuntry in the wurruld.

I hope UEFA throws it out but they are no friends of Celtic either.

Dont Rennes have to lodge a complaint first?

As for Lawwell trying to inflict a 25 point penalty on the huns 3 years in a row….

Also, Stokesy likes rebel tunes- apparently, so Celtic should sack him.

We live in a fast food instant world.

Football fans demand instant success, Celtic fans even more so.not only do you have to win the game, you need to be winning at half-time also.

Pressure from the fans for instant success peculates down to the managers office.the pressure for instant success leads to short term answers to long term problems. If he doesn’t get that right he is out and replaced by another manager who will have exactly the same set of pressures and so it goes on.

Youth development doesn’t have a hope in hell unless the youths hit the ground running and produce instant results . The fans wont stand for anything less.

Leggat has been writing negative stories about Celtic for decades – so the fact that he can’t get work in the Scottish media, which employs the likes of Andy Goram, tells us all everything we need to know about the guy. He is totally beyond help.

But any Celtic supporter that takes his rants seriously should get their head examined before Leggat does. He never had any credibility to lose but he is still a bit pathetic. He will probably come to a sad end

As for the Tax Case – the media can’t even report accurately on why the Huns are in court or on the possible scenarios they face should HMRC win. They will have absolutely no idea how the case is developing, although the odds are definitely staked against the Huns.

The media will only divide the deluded and thankfully they are thin on the ground among the Celtic support. We know what their agenda is.

Read on Phil’s site the other day when he was suggesting we had made some kind of deal with the dark side….

“Imagine if Drink Driving was a £10 on the spot fine and on your way, do you think more people would drink and drive?”

Maybe our Pro IRA singing is a wee bit like that in as much as if we can get clean away with it every time why stop?

Nobody wants to see the club punished but I do wonder if we did get punished would that make them stop and think or would they just carry on singing about the IRA regardless

Are you suggesting the Celtic Support sing illegal songs? What is it exactly we are getting clean away with in your opinion?

“NLike James Forrest I am close to having had enough in Scotland – the signs are incredibly sinister and we dont have any leaders at our club willing to tackle these developments.

Its open season on Celtic fans – not because we are doing anything illegal – they just want to make our existence illegal.”

    ———

I too feel the same as yourselves. This is getting utterly depressing, and i’ve been considering re-locating as well.

The signs are indeed incredibly sinister.

This hatred is being nourished and encouraged by the whole of the meeja, including the BBC. You’ve got people in Edinburgh trying to sniff out folk of Irish decent on the street.

That’s where it’s at just now – that’s how serious this is – and that’s why they “lost” the sectarian crime stats of the past 7 years.
