TAYLOR’S SPECIAL DELIVERY NO SHOW

GREG TAYLOR has revealed there is something missing in his life – his newly-won Premiership title medal.

The Scotland international left-back, who arrived in a £2.25million switch from Kilmarnock on deadline day on September 2 last year, is still waiting for his special delivery.

Taylor, who was Cup-tied and had to sit out the Betfred League Cup victory over Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox outfit in December, can’t wait to pick up his debut piece of silverware with the nine-in-a-row champions.

And the attack-minded defender has been working hard throughout the coronavirus lockdown to make certain he is in good shape when the Premiership season kicks off on August 1.

With Jonny Hayes allowed to leave and return to Aberdeen at the end of his three-year contract, it looks like a straight duel between the Scot and Belgian Boli Bolingoli for the No.3 slot.

During the lockdown, the Hoops backroom staff set home training regimes for the players and Taylor has been crowned 5K champion among Neil Lennon’s men.

Were his team-mates impressed by his efforts? The pacy 22-year-old, speaking to Celtic TV, answered: “It wasn’t so much praise than abuse!

“A few of the lads were questioning whether or not I had the GPS belt strapped to the dog! Kendo (John Kennedy) maybe gave me a wee bit, but he also questioned again how I was doing it.

“Not much praise given – I just want my league medal, to be fair, I’ve still not got that.”

Taylor added: “It’s been so good, seeing some of the lads, getting back into a good routine and just being back at the park, the pitches are looking immaculate and we’ve got that pre-season buzz.

“Hopefully,  there are no more 5Ks, I’m enjoying doing the running with the ball and that’s enough for me.”
