Technical review needed after Real game

882

The trip to the US to play Real Madrid is core to strategy for Celtic right now.  It allowed the significant North American support an easier opportunity to see the team, keeps the club’s profile high among the game movers and shakers and will have contributed valuable financial resources.

You know there’s a ‘but’ coming, don’t you.

Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and Daryl Murphy all picked up or aggravated strains on the trip.  The players are still stepping up their fitness regimes.  Muscles are being stressed, then rested, then stresses a little further.  Returning from two lengthy flights with a high incidence of non-contact injuries suggests we need to review how we prepare athletes for travel.

Do you like the new-look Celtic Quick News?  Some fundamental changes have engineered into the back-end which should make things more solid going forward.  More new features will come on-stream shortly.  My enormous thanks to Kev, who designed the template and everything new in the engine room.

Don’t forget, if you have an article in you for CQN Magazine email me: articles@cqnmagazine.co.uk and let me know what you would like to write about. I’ll be able to give you some pointers. Next edition coming soon.

Paul67 – I hate to be negative, but you did ask for feedback…

The new look is good in concept, flawed in execution:

It’s much harder than previous to differentiate comments from each other due to all the white space.

The new column width is strangely narrow, which doesn’t lend itself to comfortably reading longer articles or comments.

The user names are disproportionately huge, dwarfing the size of the time, date, and comment beneath.

Do they have to be ALL CAPS? I feel like DONTBRATTBAKKINANGER is screaming at me.

    (thumbsup)

  2. Anybody seen Smashy? Ah would have thought with everything thats happened over the SUMMER??? that his alcoholic juices would have been positively flowing and he’d have been found in a gutter somewhere.

  3. New design looks great, Paul67. both the desktop and mobile versions.

I am starting a campaign to get the liquidated “Home” link re-instated, the site will not survive without it, Armageddon beckons – come on Kevin / Paul67 get yer finger out ;-))

    Well done both of you.

  4. Simon Cox signed for Nottm Forest. One off the list we have been linked with.

I was told Rhodes hanging off for an offer from Celtic, which all depends on Ki moving on.

  5. I have a hunch the Orc denial machine is about to go into the preliminary stages of a more comprehensive and all consuming abnegation- we are about to become assimilated and ultimately subsumed into their collective defence mechanism: they will soon refuse read about us in papers, switch off telly’s when we are on, refuse to believe or entertain the idea we are playing a big Euro game and even deny we exist as a fanbase, club or that we are even speaking to them at work etc…because if we get into the Champions League the overwhelming luminosity of radiant Tim reality will be too much for their cave dwelling eyes to bear…

  6. Anybody seen MattE? Ah would have thought with everything thats happened over the SUMMER??? that his gloss and emulsion juices would have been positively flowing and he’d have been found painting the town red.

  7. I see Goian and Bocanegra have been dropped by their international managers. Yet Black gets his first call up. Says it all really.

  8. philvisreturns on

DONTBRATTBAKKINANGER – That may be the case but here on CQN I feel like you’re demanding to see my papers, in German. (thumbsup)

On the subject of Black – is this really the direction Scotland are going in under Levein?

The rest of the World (and even a goodly number of Scottish clubs) are trying, within their means, to step back from sheer physicality in favour of ball on the carpet passing skills.

This selection (never mind the Sevco / Division 3 links, which are just pathetic) – just the selection itself – of Black really is desperate. It is such a ‘hun-mentality’, presbyterian (small ‘p’) selection (J Greig / few caps for silky-skilled Celts / Sandy Jardine !!).

Some of the play from Dundee Utd., St Mirren and Kilmarnock and others (not Aberdeen, unfortunately, due to oor Craig) has been very pleasing on the eye and quite progressive.

Yet here we are – our National Manager deigns to go down to Division 3 – not to select some amazing young hot-shot talented buzz-bomb on the way up, but to select a common, ten-a-penny clugger. Truly pathetic selection – finished with Levein.

All I can say is, Jeeezz-oh!!

Allegedly, Sally McCoist was in Tesco in East Kilbride Stewardfield branch shopping at the weekend.

He had filled four trollies, but found time to tell the cashier that her crumpets looked mouldy. The girl ( a Jungle) was raging so she threw them, and hit him in the face.

The manager of the store said, her crumpets were lovely and Sally was just a twat, but made her write a letter of apology.

  11. Excellent new look…

Well done to all concerned. On the subject of the Airbus A380 that Peter Lawwell promised,

    Sidney Tim is onto it.

  12. Hi Paul,

We seem to have had this injury issue for many seasons now, GS tried to address this, I know the personnel involved have gone now but did he have any success?

Often I read CQN on my Kindle these days, the upgrades are great on this platform, much smoother, faster, easier to read/post overall much better presention overall. Well done to all involved.

BTW the content ain’t half bad either:-)

  14. Like the new look! Thought I was taking a funny turn when I F5 on the last post.

Gallagher:- The Skyline links were brilliant. The banks truly rule the world now, and its by design methinks, they have the power now, not governments.

BIG GEORGES FAN CLUB – I gave up on the Scotland team years ago. They’re a hopeless case, a perpetual failure machine. No point in getting worked up about them. (thumbsup)

  16. Why didn’t Levine pick the Peterhead midfielders who had Black in their pockets…..oh I know, they need a few huns through the turnstiles.

I hope they lose every game.

Liking the new look, even if posters names font size is massive, but clearer :o)

Are you expecting any reinforcements before the Helsingborg game?

  21. Like the new layout. My only complaint is the colour scheme that you’ve chosen. Why does everything have to be green and white? Do we have to constantly remind the orcs of their downfall?

The world needs a strong Sevco – that’s why billionaires are queuing up to invest in the Scottish Third Division outfit.

  23. Paul,

I lkie the new ste-up, but agree with Philvisreturns about the need for caps locks for monikers and the difficulty differntiating posts fropm posters due to the large white spaces.
