The trip to the US to play Real Madrid is core to strategy for Celtic right now. It allowed the significant North American support an easier opportunity to see the team, keeps the club’s profile high among the game movers and shakers and will have contributed valuable financial resources.
You know there’s a ‘but’ coming, don’t you.
Gary Hooper, Anthony Stokes and Daryl Murphy all picked up or aggravated strains on the trip. The players are still stepping up their fitness regimes. Muscles are being stressed, then rested, then stresses a little further. Returning from two lengthy flights with a high incidence of non-contact injuries suggests we need to review how we prepare athletes for travel.
Do you like the new-look Celtic Quick News? Some fundamental changes have engineered into the back-end which should make things more solid going forward. More new features will come on-stream shortly. My enormous thanks to Kev, who designed the template and everything new in the engine room.
Don’t forget, if you have an article in you for CQN Magazine email me: articles@cqnmagazine.co.uk and let me know what you would like to write about. I’ll be able to give you some pointers. Next edition coming soon.

Paul, I’ll go against the flow here….I find the new layout really ‘busy’. The name of the poster is about 4 times the size of the font used for the actual posting.
Interesting point about travel. There are 3 areas in which Celtic should be able to be world class. Scouting, youth development and sports science. In my humblest of opinions…..
Excuse my spelling above please.

I expect better from you sir, you let me doon!!!
The Planner
It was me. All from outside the box, including the header for the third goal.
I like the new look but I think the font size and the caps need to be altered for the usernames. Wee-er is better for me.

Jordan Rhodes “Neil. Please, please, please sign me as Celtic is the team I dream of playing for”. We made that one up….or did we?
Where is Rhodes from ? Glasgae ?
Never saw him play much .. What type of striker is he ? Target man or hopper type ?
Dubaibhoy says CQN being Green & White is pampering to the lowest denominator of the CQN users.
I am enjoying the SPL & the Champions League.

(Individual tickets are priced £15 each). So come along for a great night in the Kerrydale Suite.
Not surprised at all that Levein called up Black after all this is the tactical genius that lined up 4-6 against the Czechs..says it all really ..he is becoming a complete and utter parody..
I like the new layout and I hope we can claim the history of the old blog. :-)
Meanwhile, my appointment with Specsavers has been cancelled.
For what it’s worth ———-
I think the Monikers are way too large /way too shouty..
There is too much empty white space for me
Just logged in, big Charlie’s mug was there for those of you who have missed it.
I used to think that Craig Levine was intelligent(must be the Gregory’s) and would do a good job for Scotland, but Black, Nacho Novo’s replacement for the third division cellar dwellars, your avin a laff Craigy boy.
New site looks great Paul, well done to and Kev

THE EXILED TIM, excellent.
If the ,up to now, silent Tartan Army needed a reason to get involved in the Cause of saving Scottish football, yesterday’s shocking selection by Levein should be their Black Monday.
I posted elsewhere the suggestion that this was a collusive decision to elevate the thug to International status, in order to give them an increased transfer fee if/ when they have to sell him.
I smell Raphael.
should read “you and Kev”
But I like it!

New layout takes a bit of getting used to but it’s much easier to see who is posting, thus allowing you to skip the compulsive moaners and wasters on the blog!
Helloooooo – wonder why nobody’s reading my post???
Hail! Hail!

THOMTHETHIM, yes, but we need to be able to spill out of a plane and know how to prep for
a game.

Paul,
Are you suggesting that we parachute the team from a great height?
Now where is the precedent for that? Mmmmmm
I’m not sure of correlation to injuries and flying except maybe issues over dehydration and some other rarer stuff.
My instinct, having done/ doing a lot of proper running (and travel) is that it’s not the flights. It is overtraining . The underlying cause the season comes too soon forcing accelerated fitness regimes with inherent risks. We are in a catch 22 as we can ask the players to do a bit in close season but this brings its own problems. The answer is we need a shorter season and longer preseason for a sensible build up to fitness.
Monikers not in CAPS on the iPad
Weefra HH
Only in Scotland would a player get their first senior international call-up after _leaving_ top tier football for a club in the 4th division. While these kind of decisions are made it’s no great surprise if you find the rest of the world laughing up its sleeve at Scottish football, and the SFA and SPL struggling to market the game effectively and attract sponsors.
I’ve got no excuse for spelling sumbdy’s name wrong now.
Paul67 et al
Great new layout Paul! Good point about our pre-season preparations. We seem to get too many of the strains and sprains, and it could just be all those trains and boats and planes we keep hopping on. Players need to to have greater awareness too. Doctor Joe Venglos realised this all these years ago, did not go down well at Villa Park, hence the given nickname, Dr. No!
Desperate Dan faces 80% wage cut.
The change of layout is like a new signing – Mark Hateley

Why didn’t Levine pick the Peterhead midfielders who had Black in their pockets…..oh I know, they need a few huns through the turnstiles.
I hope they lose every game.
AGREEEEEEEEED shameful pandering to the hoardes again,
Im starting to dislike Levin & his lackey Houston more by the day .
Olympic Shot Putt
Obstapchuk caught cheating = stripped of gold
Adams in second – new Olympic champion
Obstapchuk punishment for cheating still to be dtermined, but most likely 2 year ban from competing.
Ragers (iA) caught cheating = stripped of titles???
Celtic in second – new champions????
How likely?
EC67
New look is cool but will take a wee bit getting used to names in big green letters.
Onwards and upwards.
One question. Will the new revamped blog be less susceptible to crashing now?
Congrats Paul. Always innovating!
