Techniques to deliver titles

393

I’ve never known Celtic to subsidise an away match ticket before. Put aside for a second thoughts of thanking the fans for their support during a difficult period (which are valid), I like this move for the message it sends to those in the dressing room, as well as the stands.

We are in a league race, and we want to win it. You can understand Aberdeen’s razor-sharp appetite. They’ve not won the league in over 30 years, every man, woman and child in their ranks will be forgiving of faults and profuse in praise.

By contrast, this will be our five-in-a-row, the 11th title in 16 years. It will never come close to what we experienced in 1998, when we worshipped the words of Wim Jansen after a late-season home draw against soon-to-be-relegated Hibs.

For many of us, 1998 was our Celtic supporting high point – it meant that much. Hopefully we will never again be in a place where a domestic title has such importance. Instead we need to find techniques to deliver that edge, to remind us of the importance of getting it right in every league season.

I refer to that Hibs game in 1998 often, it felt like a pivotal moment. We were nip and tuck for the title, what would have been an historic 10-in-a-row title, one which would have violated one of Jock Stein’s teams’ records. That day, it felt like the chance was slipping, but there would be no let-up. We bundled our nerves together and moved on.

Telling the world that the club is subsidising fans’ ticket costs is one technique to help deliver a little bit of that focus. Let’s hit the plastic running on Saturday.

TBJ, I was in the car earlier and put radio 5 on . As soon as I heard Sally’s voice, I changed station.

  2. I remember joyously blasting my car horn leaving the East Dunbartonshire Recycling Facility (the dump ) when Kilmarnock scored that goal.

Bankiebhoy, a great observation. If I remember correctly, very little criticism of Tait was made despite no legitimate reason for 7 minutes injury time.

A few days off the pace but I thoroughly enjoyed our players’ shifts on Saturday. Just exactly what we should expect every time. Honest best effort. Keep it going, Celts.

Kilmarnock FC, separate us into the two stands behind both goals. I’d encourage Celts to ignore any fringe protests. Buy a ticket, if you can, be in place before our players emerge from the changing-rooms and let them know we’ll be there for every game to be played this season, next season, any season.

Hello again all you young rebels.

My sombre mood is lifting again after watching the wee mhan and

his mates at training last night, nothing cheers you up more than

seeing young lhads running about with the hoops on hoping to live

    the dream.

St Patricks weekend again this Sun. for us down the rebel peninsula

and i can’t wait to see the new banner the hotel girls have been busy

making behind the scenes, they won’t let us see it but they say it is

bigger and better than last years and that was massive so much so

that the local council tried to ban them from putting it up on the

hotel facade due to it covering all the windows ( fire hazard ) they

will do the same this time but the ghirls said they plan to get up the

hotel roof early morning 5-6 ish drop it down and tied off ready for

the big bash, those Aussie babes will go to extraordinary lengths to

catch the eyes of our young Irish contingent :-))

It really is amazing after so many years in Glasgow comparing how

our Celtic town celebrates Paddys day, the main street looks like a

scene from that day in Seville, all the small cafe bars full of green

clad patrons, top hats, waistcoats, kilts, mums, dads , and kids and

to cap it all off our club the fans and the music. phew ! i’m

salivating now, no negative res 12 thoughts till Monday yeehaaa

For anyone visiting the peninsula the place to be is.

    The town of Mornington.

    The Bay hotel

  22. Comments from my source regarding the board & Res 12.

I bought shares at both the IPO and additional offering when shares were diluted. I spent over £2k buying them just to have them. I will be writing to Club as both a shareholder and fan.

CFC board are spooked for one reason. The evidence gathered is compelling to prove the case. That evidence proves beyond doubt that the company was denied additional significant income due to the clear mismanagement/corruption of the SFA.

With that evidence having been presented to them. It is the absolute responsibility for company officers to investigate to the fullest. If not, they stand accused of failing to provide proper director responsibility with regard to the company and it’s shareholders.

Remember this is something that has happened on CFC board’s watch. They are also concerned at the image of the game in Scotland scaring off sponsors and tv companies if such a fraud becomes public. Uncertain how long that damage would last for and or worse case it could be irretrievably damaged. They know negotiations for commercial deals would hand upper hand to sponsors and tv companies.

I am concerned that Lawwell has accepted a deal on this and CFC have or are being given some financial concessions. While back CFC got a couple of semi finals and home international matches etc.

What people don’t know doesn’t hurt them is the angle Lawwell has decided to take.

Before anyone goes crashing in there we have to gauge and know what waters we are sailing in first. I’m just explaining it from Lawwell’s most likely point of view and position. Scottish football presently isn’t a great commercial enterprise and attracting investors and sponsors is difficult. Lawwell will feel Res 12 becoming public will make that task even harder. Me? I couldn’t give a toss for the consequences. I am outraged at this as much as anybody. I want the perpetrators of the exercise to defraud CFC from CL income in order to aid an Ibrox Club publicly strung up and executed. This is a culmination of decades of favouritism and down right cultural bigotry towards CFC.

That’s good news for me to hear. There are times I’m away from this flat and I only re-connect on this laptop when I’m back.

Young’uns never listen. Nevertheless, around the country I never fail to remind any one who clambers by me to their notional seat after kick-off; our Celtic team ran out the tunnel and you’re seats should not have been empty.
